That's interesting that you say that about serial killers. It's always interesting to see how we are perceived overseas. Australia is no different to any other place. Most people are decent, but it only takes one or two to tarnish things. They're everywhere. Which I suppose is what this thread was about. Ironically. It's nearly midnight here. I've been on and off at LL since this afternoon. In between housework and family duties. And also during them. But I'm not here that often anymore. It is Saturday, so that's excusable, I think. I like it here. I have a lot of fun here. Great people. Great friends.

I like it here too. I have learned somethings about astrology here. A friend of mine used to live in Australia. She said that it was beautiful over there and that everything is very clean. She said that they really care about the environment. She said that she could not spray bug spray because it would pollute the air. She loved it there.

HEY BELGZ,

I wanted to let you know I don't appreciate your post. I never seriously blamed my sensitivity on my moon, I was just trying to lighten the vibe of the thread, which may or may have not been successful. And you getting passive agressive about that is kind of odd to me.

And I don't know what you mean as me trying to "act" innocent and have an attitude, as I am confident that throughout my membership here at LL, I have been nothing but respectful to everyone. I don't have room to judge anyone or act like the Qu33n 0f LinD4L4nD, and no, I'm not saying you do.

It seems to me that you're trying to start problems here, and if you've seen my attitude before in 2007, it's not here anymore. Didn't I just say that I was gone for a year? I think I'm entitled to my opinion of LL's changes.
If you were looking for an aplology, sorry.

I hope that's the end of that.

Jeeez there's a whole freaking page on shoes, and another one on celebrity crushes relevant to other members, that's just insane, I'm not reading that.

What an interesting thread, although I’m a bit late for the party and the subject is now Shoes :-D

Lucia ~

This is the same sort of thing that VirgOh did on my "Ouch! Scorpio stung Lion" thread. To me, it's a blatent example of a place where moderators ought to intervene and politely suggest that if the poster, in this case, VirgOh, is not interested in the thread topic and cannot/will not connect his/her posts to the topic, he/she should leave or begin a separate thread.
Did anyone try writing to the Moderator of this forum regarding their concerns by using the hyperlink on the forum topics-header page?? Please help police your own neighborhood. As of right this minute, there have been over 18,000 posts in this forum since Christmas. Do the math: that’s over 300 posts per day. Moderators are volunteers – we don’t get paid to sit here and read all day long. If there is something objectionable posted in a thread, do this:

quote:
if mods can't be bothered to stop these kinds of posts, then how can one expect this forum to be clean of nonconstructive/off topic/antagonizing posts/posters = missing 'the love'
That’s a bit hurtful to insinuate that we “can’t be bothered”, but so be it. The Admin people at this website expect you to be adults and converse within the guidelines and rules that you agreed to when you registered. If you feel that a poster here is flouting those rules, then write IMMEDIATELY to the forum’s Moderator or to Randall the Webmaster, at webmaster@linda-goodman.com .
quote:
i don't see why no moderator stopped the bird brain thing escalating to the statement of fol calling one a 'bird brain'.
I did. I wrote to Randall. And FOL got un-registered (again). Case closed.
quote:
lets get something straight, FOL got banned. by an admin. where does the moderator come in? shouldn't he have been warned first? then maybe it would have prevented him from being banned, and prevented him from continuing to post like he did. what im trying to say is, we should have moderators warning people.
OK LL09, let us *do* get something straight. FistOfLegend was banned by Randall: the Webmaster and the only Forum Administrator. Moderators can’t ban anyone, but they can lock threads and delete posts. Do you really think that FOL needed another warning, since he’d been here twice before under other usernames and gotten warned and then banned?? I think he lasted remarkably long considering his checkered past – maybe he was growing up and learning some self-control :-D

I know some of you are here a lot (daily, hourly in some Aussie’s cases ;-)). But do you seriously believe you could read every post in every thread, watching people’s posts to warn for misbehavior?? And who is going to clearly define “misbehavior” that deserves warnings?? What I might consider going too far, or even nasty, someone else might shrug and say ‘whatever.’ We have the rules and the guidelines set down by Randall, but nothing more specific than that. People are called a lot worse names than “birdbrain” in the Global Unity forum here at LL, but that forum is looser than the rest – we appreciate and expect a little more consideration and manners from posters here in the Astrology forum. But every time the Mods come in and “warn” people, we get cries of outrage from the up-in-arms members about CENSORSHIP. We’re damned if we do and damned if we don’t :-((

MVM ~

quote:
Seriously, there is an overabundance of time being spend on COMPLAINTS at this point, instead of people just showing tolerance and expressing gratitude for being on here.
Actually, I think the complaint-venting is a good thing. Although this is a benevolent dictatorship, Randall is always open to hearing about improvements that could be made in his site, so for that reason, threads like this are useful. In a way, it’s taking the temperature of the patient ;-))
quote:
There may be fantastic people with valuable astrological insights who don't like to complain, but have been turned off of the site by abusive, "pot stirring", off-topic and irrelevent posts, and left.
This is all too true, and has happened in reality. But LL is a microcosm of the world, and there are all kinds of people in the world. There are no qualifications for entry here at LL, so we’re going to get all kinds, and we all need to learn to deal with them. Personally I would like to see more “shunning” used, as in, completely ignoring the posts of those who are only here to get attention or get people wound up for their own jollies.

23 ~

quote:
There clearly is a problem. "Distress" posts like babbeefoxx's happen quite regularly which indicates something is wrong. Yes, Lindaland has lost it a bit.
From my perspective, it isn't just LL. Look at anything broadcast in any media. ‘Respect’ for others is slowly disappearing. When I came to LL, my impression was of a large group of (mostly) spiritually-advanced people. If I were coming here for the first time now, I’m certain my impression would not be the same. But I don’t really blame that on poor “Moderation,” as I don’t believe more Moderation (like more government) is really the solution.

Well said

i just want to say, i understand everything you said, and i don't disagree. im sorry thats what i insinuated. i don't really believe you guys "can't be bothered" its just at the time of writing the post, it just.. felt the way. because fist and other posts like his had been around for a while now. is lalalinda active here? i mean, this topic if anything kind of proves why i felt the way i did when writing that. its 270+ posts, half full of arguments, and it took alot of time before a moderator like you and mystic to come in and say something that actually helped this situation. i mean, this is the most popular forum of the linda land isnt it? maybe two moderators would be more appropriate for -as you pointed out- so many posts.(or a second more active moderator, because 3 mods have seen this mumbojumbo, but the moderator of this forum is currently nowhere to be seen)

as for fol, all i mean was, he could have done with a warning a few times before the bird brain thing. not necessarily "ban" threats, but just to prompt him to stop abusing topics with sarcastic nonconstructive posts.

do i think he would've listened? i don't know, probably not. but for how long he was posting like that i think something should have been said to him.

as for the censorship, it is a hard line to draw. but i'd like to make it clear, that there is a difference between some one sharing an actual light joke, after some discussion has gone on (thats been on topic) that the person has participated in.

compared to some one who consciously out of nowhere, joins into the topic (adding nothing to the topic previously discussion wise) and just posting (a) stupid nonconstructive comment(s), that may be sarcastic and antagonizing.

and as you have seen in this topic, people aren't liking it.

now, some people will dress this up as an "opinion" or "statement" and say these comments aren't insults. but they quite simply are. you can dress them up however much as you want, but they are not offensive by opinion (an example would be me saying the "moderators can't be bothered"). but they are rude and nonconstructive, and only provoke further rudeness or hostility.

in future, i will 'email' the moderator, and take your advice. we should all be adults around here -as you said- but as you can see, not all of us consistently behave like adults. (including me, but give me a break, im 19, im still learning, i aint in my 30's or anything.)

Of course lalalinda is active here, she was posting this morning.
From my perspective, if a thread has more than 30 or so posts, I usually investigate it, as the probability that there is either argument or sexually-related material is higher

I can't speak for other Mods, but I'm content to let people speak their piece. This is a Forum: that means, meeting/dicussion/debate, and Free Speech rules here. And *even* people like FOL get to speak their piece (for awhile, until they run afoul of the rules) because Randall is by nature a tolerant and forgiving person. There's one ex-member who was allowed to come back at least 10 times under different usernames -- and every time, she sabotaged herself and got kicked off again (a prime example of not learning one's lesson)

This place is not like astro.com's forum nor astrologyweekly's forum -- and members from those forums who are unhappy with the constant supervision/surveillance often join here because we ARE expected to behave like adults and take responsibility for our own actions towards others here, instead of being babysat.

If there is ever a problem on a thread, or offensive posts, then PLEASE write to a Mod -- ANY Mod -- or Randall, and it will be dealt with. You DO have recourse. Randall is here every day, even if you don't see him
All you have to do to write to *any* Mod is go to their forum and click on the hyperlink of their name.

If you feel strongly about more Mod-presence here, then please write to Randall with your ideas/concerns.

Jaws music? Nah. I think circus music would be most appropriate.

My favourite thing about these threads - is that they go on tangents. Unpredictable and fun. You can post charts all you want. But in these conversations, that's when you get to know people. And make friends.

I'm looking for my giraffe. If anyone's seen it can you let me know, or return it please.

It's tall, with brown spots and has a mouthpiece on it's dock. I said dock.
