Lately I've noticed some people on LL who are apparently TRYING to be hurtful. It certainly isn't the majority, but it would be nice if moderators would intervene. It's one thing if a potentially offensive post addresses the thread topic and contributes to the discussion, but quite another if it's kind of a non-sequiter.

If there is love, I'm not feeling it. If moderators are keeping it under control, I'm not seeing it. I won't name any users, but some people are in denial of their actions.

I just think, and maybe I am just sensitive, that any place in which someone opens up about their personal life, that responses should come back in a respectful and tactful manner. I know I appreciate and love good manners, I consider myself very welcoming, open, and social. I'm aware not everyone is like myself, but I do believe that you have to treat others the way you want to be treated.

And also, just because someone doesn't have 8,000 posts doesn't mean they are a newbie. And if they are, I'm sure they'd appreciate being welcomed with open arms .

What ever happened to moondreamer81? I don't know if she changed her name, but she was nice , one of the few people I remember in my LL beginnings.

Sorry if my venting is bothersome, it's been a bad month. Most of the reason why I came back to LL, for some astrological guidance.

Not all of us are experts (I know I'm definitely not), which is why we ask questions in this forum, we come for a better understanding of things as well as guidance.

No, Snohawk, I was actually referring to VirgOh's posts, not yours. Your post detailed why you thought somebody might be annoyed by a Leo or want to sting one, based on your own Leo-loathing experiences. I wasn't hurt or offended by it. It actually addressed the post topic. (And was kind of funny.)

Here's what I found offensive, and if I were a mod I would've issued a warning to VirgOh to stay on topic. It didn't completely annoy me until he(?) ignored my questions and reposted basically the same thing, refusing to connect it to the post topic and just basically trying to be mean.

As an 8th houser, I don't mind when I come onto a website looking for comfort and someone posts something really nasty...but when it's not connected to the discussion and/or they won't explain it in context, that's just being a troll.

Note: on that same thread, soooo many LLers posted words of love, comfort, support and encouragement.

It's easier to observe a change in incremental stages rather than in a continous flow.

It's not just about offense. On my favorite site, mods gently make sure that the discussion stays on topic, that posters avoid making duplicate threads, and that posts are vaguely grammatical and clear. The poster makes clear exactly how his/her post relates to the topic. So, if the topic was Cancer-Scorpio relationships, for example, the post "scorpios suck lol haha," or a scanned in photo of a kitten surrounded by hearts, or the post "good to see u here Susie how r you?" would get a moderator warning, unless that post also included a substantive discussion of Cancer-Scorpio relationships. The poster could start a new, appropriate thread: "Vent About Your Misguided Hatred of People Based on Sun Signs," "Maudlin Pictures that have Nothing to Do with Astrology," or "Random Chat."

Keeping posts on the topic can make for a much richer discussion. And then earlier threads can be used as a resource, too.
