Philip Sedgwick said the following about Pluto and its fellow big transneptunians

Evolutionary Intensified Objects. Evolutionary suggests that emotional and spiritual crisis induced by the presence and passage of these bodies intends to enhance the insight, inspiration, creativity and consciousness of a person on Earth and through events on Earth containing these bodies in significant locations.

big transneptunians that already have names, and so are related to certain archetypes include:
Eris,Pluto, Makemake,Haumea,Sedna,Orcus,Quaoar,Varuna,and Ixion

They would be similar to each other in regards to evolutionary intensified lessons, experiences that involve emotional, spiritual crisis that enhance the insight, inspiration, creativity, and consciousness of the person.

Therefore a big transneptunian in 8th house can be about evolutionary intensified lessons, experiences that involve emotional, spiritual crisis that enhance the insight, inspiration, creativity, and consciousness in areas of shared resources, other's money, sex, death, legacies, insurance, and other 8th house matters.

if they are aspected by personal planets, points then the 8th house placements are more significant

this also can pertain to the nodes of the big transneptunian objects too...heliocentric,geocentric

nodes of planets in houses can be relevant too...heliocentric,geocentric

Raymond
Sedna(sextile Moon),Eris(sextile Midheaven,biquintile Mercury),and Geo/Helio North Eris Node (oppose Sun) in 8th house.

LOL! Never knew how Scorpio I came across. Though I;m not sure what I post that comes across as a scorpio tone....

Though the funny thing is in Equal houses mar mars is in the 7th and I don't think it fits there. It's more of a strong 8th house Mars and I seem to be connected to many community resources out there (Dealing with other peoples money)

When I was 30, my greatgrandma was still living and now I'm close to 40 and I still have 1 grandma living and she is not even 80 yet. She was 38 when I was born - gee same age difference between my baby and me....interesting.

Death has more of a spiritualist bent to it for me. Like John Lennon said death is like changing from one car and getting into another.

When people speak of 8th house transformations, even those on campus taking Astrology it always the "bad" things that make you transform and well the bad things in life didn't make me transform it made me learn but transform no, it was dealing with other affairs outside myself is where I transform.

It's interesting about the 8th house ruler in the 7th house and one of your transformation came from a relationship.

An Astrology Class on Campus?! How cool is that?

And yeah, I hate to give the person credit, but um...yeah. Thanks to him, I'm alot more realistic. Is it odd that this person turned out to be a Scorpio and first came into my life when Saturn was going over my Sun?

And another random thing: my 8th house Moon is in Virgo, my friend's Scorpio Moon is in the 3rd----->> we both LOVE to get lost in a good book. Its almost like another world to us.

Chang, a lot of NNs are rx in natal charts
Not all, but many I think. Don't worry about it

Plus the ruler of your NN is the sun, which never goes retrograde

My 8th house is empty. Don't know why I wanted to put it in bold lettering... It is, though.

Cancer on the cusp, and the moon is conjunct DC in the 7th in Gemini, opposing Mercury and Uranus which are in 1st house Sagittarius. Not sure what it means, I didn't really get the hang of 8th house... mostly because it's empty. Maybe the bold lettering signifies an echo?

It's ruled by the moon. Just go with that. Who cares if it's empty? It's not like it's reflective of your mental state or anything LOL!

LOL Hopefully not, otherwise I'd have a very empty mind... most of my houses are empty.

I think I just emphasised it because it being empty meant that I never really paid attention to it...

DD,
My guy has retrograde Saturn in his 8th also, and yes, fear of intimacy is an issue. Letting people go, but also fear of letting people in. The 8th is about transformation, so with Saturn in that house there is a resistance to that transformation. I thought this was a good interpretation;

"The eighth house asks us to enlarge or sacrifice our ego boundaries in order to enter into relationship or union with another or others. To do so, some aspect of our personality or ego must die. Usually it is some thing, not some one, that dies, and with the passing away of that limiting aspect of our personality we experience a releasing freedom.

Herein is the second aspect of this house: resurrection and rebirth. The eighth house rules personal evolution, growth, transformation and change, death, rebirth, sex, possessions of a relationship, legacies, inheritance, taxes, rituals, initiations and the occult, the astral body and reincarnation, and the severing of ties to that to which we are attached. A planet in the eighth indicates that a personal facet of your psyche is under pressure to work more cooperatively or jointly with others. Many planets here signify a person whose life can be characterized by change. Such individuals may find continuous states of affairs monotonous, and periodically bring about changes or crises to feel truly alive.

The test with Saturn in your eighth house is one of letting go. In sex there's often the need to control or manipulate the partner out of the fear of surrendering, as well as a general lack of balance (too much or too little) in sexual matters. You are quite good at using what you have to its full advantage, but may take advantage of other's resources as well. There are money problems in both business and personal relationships. You are demanding when it comes to getting down to the nitty-gritty. Other things being equal (and it's unusual that they are), Saturn in the eighth house is an indicator of a long life."

I also have Ceres, Juno and the Vertex in my 8th. As if my 8th wasn’t going to be transformational enough, they had to throw my Vertex in there as well!

"Juno in the eight house indicates that transformative experiences are most likely to come to you through the avenue of a committed relationship. Your partner, the relationship or the way you behave in the relationship is likely to be emotionally and sexually intense, with a need to share about issues of trust and power in order for things to be healthy. The sharing of resources (financial and material) and energies (emotional and sexual) will be important concerns in the relationship.”

Raymond,
Thank you for the Solar Fire interpretation of Ceres in the 8th. "You feel nourished when you experience deep and intense emotions. You may nurture yourself by delving into metaphysical matters. You may find or give comfort in sexual experiences; or care for dying people." That’s pretty accurate for me. I feel very strongly that Ceres tends to be overlooked, in the sense of its strength. That she is probably along the same power level as Pluto and Eris. When I look at the myth, I am reminded that her purpose is transformation, just like Pluto.

"Ceres is the expression of the Earth Goddess archetype that has been worshipped in many forms by various cultures. This archetype has always been associated with mother earth, harvests, a transformational journey to and from the underworld, rites of passage, and the birth or resurrection of a fertility deity.

The myth of Demeter (da mater or "earth mother") and the sudden abduction of her dearly loved daughter Persephone by the lord of the underworld contains the same universal symbolism as other Earth Goddess myths. These myths may appear, at first, to be early explanations for the changing of the seasons. They are actually wise, rich, symbolic teachings on such profound themes as loss and renewal, death and rebirth, and the endless transformation that constitutes the very laws of creation to which this universe and everything in it adheres.
On a more personal level, the Ceres myth deals with the severance of the bonds of love and/or attachment. When we experience love as we have known it being taken from us, we can feel as if we have been cast into a realm of eternal darkness, never to return to the world of the living again. We may then be unable to let go of the past, reliving it again and again in our minds - protesting and resisting the present, and demanding that it somehow hand over to us the treasure that has been snatched away.
Yet as with Demeter, who chose to forgo her divinity and wander in the world of humans, after which she was reunited annually with her transformed daughter, it is only when we can give up notions of eternal paradise and immortality that we can relinquish old attachments. Only when we have been humbled by and have accepted those mysterious cyclic forces beyond ourselves that we can be restored to a state of plentitude and abundance in the here and now. Then we can truly understand how our cup must be emptied in order to be filled afresh.

Ceres in the birth chart thus describes what one really cares about, and the way one nurtures others (and needs to be nurtured oneself) in a parental kind of way. It also indicates where one may tend to cling, the kind of separations that can be traumatic, and what one may be required to give up (or share with others) in order to grow. It can also indicate the ways in which we seek for something that seems to be missing, something we didn't get enough of, as well as the ways that can help us mourn such a loss. As with Demeter and Persephone, Ceres can also indicate the kind of experience that constitutes a rite of passage - the most profound transformation: the death and rebirth of the self.”

Diablo,
I have to agree with your comment, “being a radio antenna”. Yes, that’s me. Totally. I absorb emotions and energy. I’m also an empath. Being in crowds completely wipes me out. I have to essentially go into hermit mode when I get home. I have to pull into myself just to center and balance myself again. I try very hard to surround myself with a protective bubble, and do IQ’s violet bubble/tetrahedron/octahedron visualization daily.

Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Uranus in my 8th.

I relate to most of what Dinobleu said: I am a natural detective and extremely interested in death, the Other Side and past lives.

I never have been afraid of death, per se. My only fear is of injuring my body or feeling physical pain BEFORE death, but even that fear has been assuaged by my recent reading about what happens just before our souls leave our physical bodies.

All my life so far I have felt like a complete outsider in most social situations. Like I sense that most people don't get me and like I have trouble relaxing around most people and being myself.

Only Chiron in my 8th.

I wonder if this has to do with my major hang ups and insecurities about sex that I've always had and can't explain.

I have the same placement, but I also have dwarf planet,Eris in the 8th. I believe that my Eris in 8th is the stronger influence because it's a dwarf planet like Pluto, and it's even larger than Pluto.

here is Solar Fire interpretation for Chiron in 8th:

You may feel inadequate sexually. You may be sensitive to painful undercurrents, and use this knowledge later to become an intuitive healer.

Here is Part 2:

The Mysteries of the 8th House: House of Death & Transformation: Part 2

The planet placements in the eighth house can reveal where we find our spiritual healing, rebirth, and growth. Below is a list of how the energy of the planets in the eighth house impacts an individual’s life.

Sun in the Eighth House: The focus is on hiding one’s true nature and makes the individual extremely private and secretive. These individuals are blessed with intuition, psychic abilities, deep dreams, and depth of empathy. These individuals often benefit financially from the father or the father’s side of the family. Healing energies are the blessing of this placement and this person often keeps who they are a secret. Many individuals with this placement are drawn to fields such as law enforcement, psychiatry, massage therapy, counseling, detective work and any field that deals with death, change and behind the scenes actions. These individuals drawn those with problems and people who have pain are drawn to them for healing. These individuals have a strong, powerful, intense presence.

Moon in the Eighth House: The focus is on concealing the emotions. These individuals are emotional, passionate and sensitive. They feel other people’s pain and the suffering of others weighs on them. They have to learn to protect themselves because they are highly empathic and absorb all of the secrets and subtle energy in the environment. These individuals often benefit financially or receive inheritance from the mother or the mother’s side of the family. These individuals suffer through sacrifice of themselves for others and often in their lives feel victimized emotionally by others. Issues of sexuality often bring confusion and suffering until they find the right person to share intimacy with. These individuals bond through the sexual experience and need not only physical but emotional depth in any relationship.

Mercury in the Eighth House: The focus is on depth of thought and communication. These individuals need deep communication and intellectual intimacy in relationships. They enjoy sharing their deepest, darkest secrets with others and need others to open up to them verbally. They often keep their thoughts to themselves for fear that others will not understand them. These individuals often think about death and their own mortality and at times worry about this topic. They have a keen, insightful mind and sharp tongue.

Venus in the Eighth House: The energy is focused on keeping the love nature secret and private. These individuals often benefit through the marriage partner and tend to marry someone of a higher financial status than themselves. They are blessed by the partner’s possessions and relationship. Their love nature is deep, possessive and intense.

Mars in the Eighth House: The energy is used to express aggression, drive and ambition. These individuals often find themselves in conflict with others and with relatives at sometime in their lives. The sexual nature is strong with this placement and can become addictive if not balanced. These individuals have intense passions and dramatic shifts in emotion. They feel strongly about things and response assertively. There is danger of accidents and surgeries. These individuals need to exercise regularly as it will aid in balanced health. If they repress their natural energies and drives they can find themselves suffering from illnesses. It is important for them to have a healthy outlet for their intense nature.

Jupiter in the Eighth House: The energy is focused towards expansion, abundance and good luck. These individuals often inherit money, land, and goods from the dead. They often are naturally lucky and are looked after by others. They draw financial and material things into their lives easily. This is a positive position of Jupiter and I often see individuals with intuitive gifts that come naturally.

Saturn in the Eighth House: The energy is focused on learning and discipline. These individuals are learning self-control and often repress their desires. Sexual tensions are high with this position and often these individuals are afraid of intimacy. They can overcome this fear by being vulnerable and letting go of the need to control their own emotions. This placement also shows a karmic wound in areas of sexuality, intimacy, relationships, death and inheritances. The positive manifestations of the eighth house may be blocked with this placement, because Saturn is the planet of karmic learning and this process is sometimes painful. The true lesson of this placement is to let go of the past and to learn to trust others and themselves.

Uranus in the Eighth House: The energy is focused on unexpected changes in finances, intimacy and death. Oftentimes these individuals inherit money unexpectedly. There is caution with this placement that individuals drive safely and avoid any high risk behaviors. They need to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Anything that goes too fast such as cars, planes etc. need to be controlled. Unexpected flashes or visions are common with this placement. Mystical experiences that come and go throughout the life are common. These individuals will benefit from others in their lives financially or emotionally in some way, even though they may not ever believe it or prepare for it.

Neptune in the Eighth House: The energy is focused on finding a spiritual union with a mate. Intimacy is taken to a spiritual level and sexual intimacy can become almost platonic with this placement. These individuals need to take caution and not to take alcohol or drugs. They are ultra sensitive to chemicals and drugs which can disturb the mind and spiritual experience. This is a natural spiritual planet and sitting in the eighth house makes these individuals vulnerable to negative energies, people and situations if they abuse substances. Mystical experiences are common with this placement. There may be problems with inheritance and other people’s resources.

Pluto in the Eighth House: The energy is focused on power, control, sexuality and privacy. These individuals are born secretive, intuitive and psychic. They have a powerful ability of healing and have an intense presence. They see through fakeness and cannot tolerate superficiality. They are strong and people are often intimidated by them in some way. They have a look of confidence and a “don’t mess with me” look on their face. They are natural healers and drawn to the healing professions. Many psychologist, therapists, counselors have Pluto in the eighth. The downside of this placement is that I often see individuals that were sexually abused or sexually victimized in some way. This feeling of being victimized not only comes from physical experiences but emotional experiences. There is a feeling of regeneration and rebirth that these individuals must experience. This can be a painful placement if these issues are not discussed, healed and processed with someone the individuals can trust.

North Node in the Eighth House: Individuals with North Node in this house are born to be healers. There spiritual mission this lifetime is to heal others and many do this through energy work such as reiki, pranic healing, yoga, massage therapy and psychotherapy. These individuals are learning to let go of the past and detach from the need for physical, material and emotionally security. They must embrace change and oftentimes the universe forces them to change by taking things away from them. This can manifest as divorce, death of a loved one, loss of job, etc. The purpose of this pain is to force these individuals to become more spiritual and to become the “wounded healer.”

South Node in the Eighth House: Individuals with South Node in this house are meant to focus on finding security and balance in their lives. They have been through drama, change and upheaval in the past and now desire to settle down and find comfort. They are meant to stick with things through completion and not end things before it is time. They are born to accumulate possessions and to focus on practical matters this lifetime.

The guy I'm talking to has this placement. His Moon is in Cancer, his sun is in Pisces, and his Asc is in Scorpio.
He has the word "pain" tattooed HUGE on his arm.
Just thought that was interesting, not making any certain point.

*Cynnard, I meant it in a good way. I love Scorpio people. You just come across very matter of fact, I think that's why I thought you had a Scorp Sun. (O:

I wish I did have some sort of shield for my empath nature....I work at a freaking hospital. Thank God my Moon's in Virgo though, because I'd be crying at the drop of a hat if it wasn't. Not very practical at my job.

Interesting to note that if I were to get immediate help, it would most likely be from maternal relatives. Nothing personal against the paternals, but there's less barriers with my mother's family to overcome. :\

As for sexuality, that's a confusing area....but more because of social influence. I mean, I know who I am...its just other people in my circle who couldn't accept it. And I'm not talking about orientation (I'm definitely sure of that) but rather, the way people expect me to act.

In Equal, Venus and Pallas are in the 8th.

"They are destined to go through emotional, physical and material death at sometime in their lives."

"Many people will sacrifice so that these individuals are taken care of financially."

"Individuals may find themselves constantly sacrificing their own emotions and what they really want for others."

"Individuals with planets placed here will be extremely sensitive to energy and will be able to “feel” other people’s pain, emotions, and energy field."

"What others show them on the outside is insignificant, because they will zone into the true energy, thoughts and emotions of others."

"Many individuals with planets in this house experience depression and are often treated with medication"

"Several body workers, reiki masters, and pranic healers have this placement

All fits!

Oooh man, I totally relate to this. I feel it's my 12th house moon though. That's very much to me the bars-on-the-windows-and-life-is-going-on-outside-while-i-am-inside-watching-it-all.

It's interesting how many of us relate to this statement, feeling isolated from another yet still feeling the same way!
