Yum, cookies! Just don't get yourself used to cookies every time you face a glitch, ok? I am working on a research paper (the write up of a programming project with a lot of background theory) so the cookies would come nice to me as well. Can you fax a few? I have phone calls to make and I'm afraid that Mercury is still not done being glitchy... although this is stuff I've been trying to get resolved for a while. Gah... I just can't deal with trying to get stuff done over the phone during Merc Rx -- too much misunderstanding and I'm slightly phobic of the phone to begin with. Does anyone have any cheese to go with my whine? IP: Logged |

OH MY FREAKING GAWD. For DAYS I've been trying to figure out why gmail is acting so unbearably slow. (I mean, I know Mercury Rx, but I didn't know how to FIX it.) I type 70+ WPM, but if you looked at the screen when I would type an email it looked like I was pecking the keys. And then Firefox would spaz and not register half of what I typed. Instead of really troubleshooting the issue, I just gave up on my emails. Today, though, I REALLY had to send one and I was not about to type an essay on my Blackberry, so I used Safari instead of Firefox and there were no issues whatsoever. I was like John McEnroe yelling at the chair umpire; YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!!!1 IP: Logged |

I had no gmail issues. But I had issues here on this board lol. Also (unrelated to this board) I use Google's Chrome browser and it would snap out on me (literally switch off any site I visited) but that's nothing a reboot can't fix! With computers, usually the dumber action (reboot) is the smarter way to go when you want to fix things. IP: Logged |

I just downloaded Opera, because I like being non-conformist, and it's light years faster than Firefox has been for me. IP: Logged |

I tried Opera on my BB too but it didn't do it for me. I love Chrome on my laptop. Yes, very fast too. I would love to buy the Chrome-ready laptops I've seen in the market some time!IP: Logged |

i was using Opera too but it stopped loading yahoo mail and after 2 months of putting up with it i went back to Firefox. i have to download some popular browsers and test my website for the final fine-tuning. gonna try on Opera, Chrome and Internet Explorer... i already have been testing with Firefox and Safari. i cannot believe people do this as a job, what a tedious time-consuming thing to build websites... Do you use DreamWeaver exclusively? There are many ways to build a website. Can't wait to see the finished product! You can test it with me before release too. <~~~ excited

oh believe me, i'm so excited to put it out there too, want to get there already! i'm just using dreamweaver, yea. i know there are other ways but figured this is the simplest solution to get started as a total beginner. as a beginner, i keep encountering all sorts of problems and i've only been trouble-shooting the whole time, it feels like! now i have a couple of new ones. oh how can i not just have it the way i need it to be!? everything is sooooo complicated! Troubleshooting (aka debugging) is any coder's favorite past-time! (OK, except perhaps for the beginner! lol) Plus by doing things on your own you become very efficient. If anything goes wrong down the road you are the right person to fix it. I think that was very brave of you! Kudos! IP: Logged |

thanks! well the most annoying part comes from having incompatible pre-packed scripts etc. i needed a simple shopping cart script. i spent 1+ week searching for the perfect one, then spent more time implementing it. the perfect one did not work with the popup gallery script, so i spent 1 week looking for the perfect popup gallery script. then when i started fine-tuning the shopping cart, i realised it was not working very well and the project seems to be providing no support at the forum. so i looked for a new one, find one, then this new one is not compatible with the popup gallery script so i had to do everything all over again in one big circle. (did this paragraph even make sense!?) technically i totally wasted 3+ weeks, working on things that didn't work. but it's ok, as long as i don't run late, i leant a few things. but now i wish i had more time! on the side note, last week my ceiling light went out. just now my clock stopped (the battery is only 1-year old wtf?). Mercury is still not done! (and i just pressed "clear fields" instead of "submit reply". good thing the text field remembered what i was typing!)

Sounds familiar! Last April one of my customers whose site I was working on, wanted everything finished in two weeks!! Talk about ignorance! She had nothing no infrastructure and I was working on no money. She was a rightful ***** . She would resist all my suggestions and keep asking why. I could not tell her that in the time I had been allotted for the job I simply didn't have the time to also educate an idiot. Not only that, she blamed me for not working just because she saw no change in her old site (I had explained to her that in order to avoid confusing her old customers, I will be working offline on a different front page and make the transfer when everything is ready! You think she understood any of that? LOL). It's dangerous to work for people who know very little and are also not prone to trust you. Lesson learnt. Never again. quote:

Since you have never done this before, this is more than justified. I wouldn't roll my eyes on that. It takes as long as it takes. Simple as that. quote:

True. Time is never enough. Do you have any loans running? If not, it's best NOT to stress yourself out about timing. You need to get ready and you are working on it. What else can you do? quote:

I hope today is a bit better. I try to warn people about the shadow period of retrograde but nobody is listening. Because of the holidays everyone wants to get out of Merc rx so badly. Are you doing this with the help of a forum? You mentioned something above. Do you have any real life help? Do you have all the photos etc. of the products? How come you didn't just do it on etch or somesuch? Again I think you took a very brave decision and you are admirable and an inspiration. IP: Logged |
