OMG........... I was working FINE on my laptop this morning. Then I packed it up to go to my meetings. Was supposed to work later at the office so I just took it with me. After a long boring morning of meetings, I sat down with a coffee looking forward to come online and do some work (I do those in parallel i.e. scatterbrained! lol). My laptop would NOT boot to save its life! It would refuse to run Windows! I rebooted several times and I got all sorts of scary error messages. Upon running the diagnostic test, after several hrs (that I should have spent WORKING) I got the REALLY scary message: "Replace HD 1" with a phone number and a web site to go get my replacement! I nearly had a heart attack!

BUT - enter Taurus moon - I never quit too soon. I have the original Windows disks and I thought I would try to repair the folder that was corrupted. But it wouldn't let me get in to do that! I could run the recovery program but I would lose everything I have on my laptop (including important WORK files) that I saved last summer. My last backup was full so I had to save only the most important stuff and those backup files are 6 months old now!! I should have known better that Merc rx is always bringing me laptop headaches!
Lo and behold, after several semi-random clicks, I managed to: 1. repair the corrupted system folder (phew) 2. come back with NO file lost (PHEW)!!

I need a strong martini for the rest of the evening!!

I was THAT close to pull my hair out, and go get me a new machine! URGH!

I HATE YOU MERC RX, I HATE YOU!!! [fist in the air]

Guys, I'm so spooked, I am thinking of postponing my meeting with a bigwig from tomorrow to whenever-merc-is-back-in-working-order-pls!!!!! Only thing is I need a NON-astro excuse to persuade him that it's best to stay away from each other until I have my:

1. Uranus
2. Jupiter
3. Mercury

IN WORKING ORDER......... URGHhhhhhhhh.

If I disappear, you know my laptop has been playing games on me!

Oh no!

When you run the diagnostic tests that comes with Windows, the program checks the RAM (memory) and the HD for errors. If any of the tests fails, it is imperative that they give you the diagnosis, the guarantee number for the replacement and related contact info (usually the brand company local phone numbers and/or web site for replacements). This is part of the deal when you run this program. Also my laptop has recovery points you can backup everything in it for later recovery. So no it's not creepy at all!

I will be spending the rest of my evening saving stuff away..... :eyes:
I will also create a new recovery point and hope I never get this scare again!

OOO, be careful. The other day my dad got this nasty trojan. It comes as an "Antivirus" software that makes your whole harddrive and system files disappear. A bunch of error messages come up and you're forced to run their diagnostic tool because all the RAM is "tied up". You can't connect to the internet. Can't open any other files. The errors look like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXdrXF7O6Tg

(Sorry I couldn't find a video with less obnoxious music.)

When you run the software's diagnostic tool, it shows that your whole computer is ****** up and that you need to download their premium account to get rid of the "virus".

I got very suspicious of this, so I found this: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/8693/how-to-remove-antivirus-live-and-ot her-roguefake-antivirus-malware/

Anyway, after using HiJack This and some nerdyness, I finally got it off my Dad's computer. I almost just restored the whole damn thing, too.

PHEW! I just got off the phone with Sallie Mae. Was actually very pleasant! I already defaulted on my loan before, so we're on a special plan to pay off my loan instead of getting sued 8(. I was so nervous because the guy said that usually if it's 45 days later (we're 2 months late), that they send the account to collections. But then he told me that Sallie Mae opted to keep the account since I owe less than $15k and they'd rather keep me as a "customer". PHEW. They guy even told me I can just resume payments without having to play catch up with the last two months I've lost. Lee Alison at Sallie Mae Collections is my HERO.

There is an angel who loves me somewhere.

I tend to get lucky when it comes to my debts. Must be Taurus Jupiter in the 8th? PHEW. I am so relieved. If that account went into collections, dear lord... PHEW. PHEW. PHEW. I am sweating with relief.

Bad news: I broke the door knob to my house because I got locked out getting the mail. It's a sliding door in the back that I know has a weak lock... Well, I finally broke it. It was COLD! FFFFFFUUUUU-

Ouch! Sorry to hear about the door knob! Hope you can replace this soon!

As for the debt, you know when they say "we would rather keep you as a customer" it simply means they want their money back. They want any money you can give them rather than a pesky lawsuit that might not get them any money anyway. Given the state of the economy, many people don't pay so they dread losing "customers" (= people who are willing or fearful enough to pay even at a rate of 50 dollars per month). So I'm not sure how much of this is "luck" and how much is just financial crisis and banks going after any money they can get their hands on!

^ LOL, I know. In my head was like, "Sure... I'm just sure you love keeping me.... and my money."

I do consider it luck or some sort of blessing that my account wasn't sent straight to collections. Last time, they defaulted my loan after I missed A MONTH. No notifications, no calls. Just two letters send to my mom's house where no one was home at the time. This was back in 2008? I had left school before of other money issues, and had to start payments almost as soon as I got out. ******** really got me...

Right now I owe them 15k and pay $200 a month... so 6-7 years to go. Whoohooo.....

The fact that I actually had a nice conversation with Sallie Mae for once! With Merc Rx, I expected to be put on hold for three hours, to find out there's nothing I can do, that I'll have to do such and such, and no I cannot talk to a manager. But the call only lasted five minutes and everything is fine now.

Still broke my door knob. I do stupid **** during Mercury Rx. My brain implodes.

Oh, I don't do as well during Merc rx either! (See above )

I was just kidding as I think we got a bit off-topic but it's alright by me. I enjoy the friendly banter.

Plus, I know that if I suddenly disappear (thanks to Merc rx messing with my 'puter), I know that at least one person will be wondering about where the @#@#$ I've been!

i always notice things going berserk during retro Mercury (but my natally retro Mercury seems to cope well with it in the end), but had never seen that people from the past reappear as it happens to others.

well guess what, my university mates had decided to have a reunion next year, and made a Facebook page for it last week! this will be in the US and at the moment seems impossible for me, but i'll regret it so much if i don't make it!

Whenever Mercury retrogrades I have noticed I interact more on forums like these than talk/write to my friends.I'm a Gemini Rising with Mercury in the first house.I wonder if other Gemini Asc feel this way.
