If by your definiton rationality is backing up actions with logic, then id say gemini too. A novice surgical doctor Gemini can cut off a patients toe and make it seem like everyone does that -- its supposed to happen. Gemini can out wit anyone. ... I personally think to end this delicious icecream topic with a cherry finish one should understand that for the signs, to each their own. What works for me in outwitting terms may in my opinion not work for another and so forth. I.e. I think aries' (mars so they have some stamina) ability to keep a tight seal until gemini spills the beans on why their hair really is that color will lend aries the perfect advantage to pounce like a puma and outwit. So really any sign can. Its all in the tactics and approach. Verberally stil gem, so it all depends. IP: Logged |

The question actually branched out when you introduced the rhetorical case of a fickle Gemini impressing a Cap as "rational" when describing what the Cap perceives as irrational behavior. quote: But anyway, Gemini is ruled by Hermes/Mercury and he used logic to persuade and confuse many different minds, differing value systems notwithstanding.
Right, logic and persuasion are separate from rationality as you clarified above. My argument is that in rationality, value systems do apply. quote: Someone who can freely apply straight logic within any given situation is more reasonable/rational than a Capricorn who is dead set on maximizing the bottom line no matter what. Capricorn is bound by its need for material security and status, which trumps all else.
So, if you want to use the words "logical," "reasonable," and "rational" interchangeably, of course you might arrive at the conclusion that the most logical is the most reasonable and the most rational. I seriously disagree. Medieval theologians like John Calvin studied logic formally and applied it masterfully to what I, in my admittedly subjective sphere, regard as an irrational set of assumptions. quote: Subjective rationality? That sounds like it could be insanity.
Never heard of that before. IP: Logged |

I think the best part about this thread is not the signs used for answering the question but the explanations. Lol. I guess we're all very different. Personally I think Gemini's are too scattered to be rational and Capricorns are too judgmental which isn't sensible. They can be very narrow minded and ruthlessly authoritative, not exactly my definition of a rational individual. I'd assume rational people should somewhat have themselves together. Cappies are great though and they can be very professional and appropriate. Just not the most rational...

The most irrational sign I ever met was Gemini. I'm thinking of three prominent ones in my life atm...I would not say Taurus is the most rational, because we ware ruled by Venus and are often pushovers and get lost in that realm.. Joan said it best about Capricorns being too judgemental. In my expereince, they have not been the most rational bunch either. I guess my vote would have to go to Virgo. I'm thinking back on two of them now and they were great businessmen....they both had tempers, but were able to restrain it...and make wise business and romantic decisions.... So, Virgo, gets my vote. IP: Logged |

The three Gemini's I am thinking of have to be the most irrational, chaotic, insane people I've ever known. (one being my own father)That has just been my experience. I'm sure there are more even tempered, sane ones out there. The ones I knew were reckless. IP: Logged |

virgos i think are pretty rational. They tend to incorporate their feelings into things too, so that's good. I just feel like they analyze too MUCH. But they are definitely up there on the rational list Hmm, why were geminis in your life irrational, would you say? IP: Logged |

The problem is the topic, its to debatable I think if It was re-worded as "Most-Rational elements and placements in a Natal Chart" there would be more of a definite agreement with everyone.I mean if everyone just wants to debate forever, we should all just debate climate change we could go on for 30yrs. I'm sure everyone would agree mercury Gemini is a logical sign and if paired with the right chart elements that particular individual would be vary rational. I mean we can say that a Gemini might be vary logical, but scattered. What about other chart influences that would make a Gemini more focused. I think everyone follows what I'm saying. Whats the "sweet spot chart" that has the best combination balance of elements/placements that makes someone rational. Every placement has a pro/cons so its a balancing act. Anyway, Everyone I've known with strong Gemini presence in there charts have either became mathematicians or computer programers/software developers/software engines, so there is a logic present in Gemini. Keep in mind I refer to gemini males, I haven't encountered Gemini Females being vary logical unless they display logic in a different way. --------------------------------------- Capircorn Rising Gemini Sun, 5th House Aries Moon Mercury in Gemini Venus In Taurus

RAS, you are too sweet, so i'm going to spare you the details and not got into the dark side of Gemini - that i have witnessed anyway...Plus I'm in the middle of cooking something right now and only taking a quick break. Just know....that they will never win an award for Most Rational. in my book anyway... IP: Logged |

Earth signs in general, but especially. I've noticed that personal planets in Virgo especially Mercury in Virgo, is the most rational. IP: Logged |

Earth and Air are thinking signs, water and fire are feeling signs. Earth reasons, air analyses. It's as easy as that.IP: Logged |

A combination of Air and Earth in the Sun/Moon/and the houses they're inBut i don't think Air and Earth dominant is a rule tho. I have it and most of the times i put emotions first (if i really care about the person/situation, which happens really fast but can go just like that). I have Venus conjunct Neptune tight. I was surprised to see no Pisces placements/12th house in my chart. Of course there's more but i won't remember now. IP: Logged |
