This is a subject and a problem I feel very very strongly about and english is not my mother tongue so I will do my best to formulate this. The breeding of dog breeds(and cats etc) that is being born to this world being horrificly mutulated by the genetical selections humans made is to me and many more (but not many enough) inhumane, unethical and also in my opinion animal cruelty.
Breeds like Pugs, corgies,dachshund , shar pei, bulldogs, chihuahuas etc breeds that is struggling from day one with crippling health problems, dogs that do not even resemble a dog, dogs who looks montrous and all mangled, its superbly selfish and even in some cases in my opinion sadistical to wanna support this kind of breeds and breeders!
I don't get the appeal with a bulldog however I can understand why one wouuld found a chihuhua sweet. But its a breed that for ex has eye problems, eyes that some in cases can pop out because they are too big for their head! Epilepsia problems etc.
Corgies, they are immenseli popular, I get it, they have very happy go lucky temperament, but this is a breed where the dog sooner or later will end on the vets table for back surgery! There is so many dogs going around with horrific backpain since the day they have been born, they are so used to the pain, they don't show it before they are immensely crippled! Or shar pei who gets skin problems and eczema because of the wrinkles.
If you have watched the tv-series The supervet with the amazing vet Noel Fitzpatrick he gets so many cases with dogs like this.
It's not right! It's so selfish so absurd I can't wrap me head around it! Just because you think a pug or dachshund is "cute" should you let that animal suffer, not being able to move, breath etc the way a dog, hell an animal was suppose to?
Just imagine yourself walking around in stumpy legs, back pain, not being able to breath properly, having heart problems because of that, having eyes too big for your head they can pop out, eczema over your whole body the list is long. Would you wanna live like that? What kind of life is that?!
And its all because some thinks it looks cute? I can't find any more words to describe this... People who supports this breeders should not call themselves animal lovers at all. Thise breeds should be banned to breed with!
The breeds I love? The breeds that looks the most alike its ancestors, the breeds that has normal mental health, breeds that can breath and smell with their long nose as it should be. Breeds that can walk and run properly, uncrippled breeds.
I love dogs and animals so so much <3, and I know this should be a "happy" thread, but I felt I needed to state thise facts.
