Sometimes when people are raised with constant criticism or rejection (or worse, abuse), then that shatters their confidence, and the way some preserve their self-esteem is to deny that others (particularly those who criticize them) are right, and can thus never admit mistakes while blaming everyone around them for what goes wrong (alternately, they may adopt the arrogance of those who mistreat them to minimize the mistreatment, but that typically means finding others to mistreat). It's a vicious circle that alienates more and more people (though it can attract others afflicted with arrogance who then feed into each other's affliction), making the afflicted more and more defensive and thus more arrogant.

But if they're raised better than that, then they aren't arrogant, they're confident. Confidence doesn't need to put others down.

Perhaps Leo, being a fiery fixed sign filled with pride (and also tend to be almost as straightforward as Sag), can be more prone to arrogance (and obvious about it), but if raised right (or if they can somehow find metaphoric rebirth) then they'll be warm people to be around who inspire confidence in others rather than defensively arrogant.

Actually, it can be true, I've experienced it, and been on the receiving end of it. It may not always be arrogance, but it can come off that way.

I know a Scorpio who needs for others to think that he's having more fun than them, is more worldly/smarter/more attractive/dating more attractive women than a lot of men his age/is a better cook than the famous chefs in NYC, etc. He goes on and on. I wish I knew the rest of his chart.

Sorry PixieJane, but I have to disagree as well. I've been psychologically abused and the result is not that of arrogance, but that of self-deprication. If I was proven wrong in some sort of argument, I'll admit that I was wrong (Aqua Mercury). Not to mention, I've known of people who were raised well and have been arrogant. That doesn't mean that it can't be true though; just not the case in my experience.

As for the OP, I'll have to say Scorpio and Aquarius. I don't necessarily see Leo as arrogant;perhaps cocky would be true. With Scorpio it makes sense since they tend to see the negative side of things before looking to the positive, so they can put down people before they get a chance to know them.

I'm a woman. I was talking about one Scorio in particular.

I was raised really well. I doubt that anyone would have called me arrogant, until a few years ago, when I needed to be tougher, and to put up walls. I was angry, and upset, and that can come off as arrogance. It's rarely the case, though.

Self-depreciation is another possibility. And there are other possibilities as well besides arrogance and self-depreciation.

I know you're female.

I think personality flaws can happen regardless of upbringing (my parents were/are great parents), and that any statement otherwsie is somewhat idiotic.

Having said that i dont view arrogance as a personal flaw. You should believe in yourself. Others tend to want people to be self-loathing because it makes them feel comfortable or even superior, which is why people view arrogance as an issue.
