Ceres in Gemini feels nurtured when someone takes the time to talk or write to them. They need to communicate with others. Traveling with them or even going along on errands will make them feel that you care. They like to nurture others through education, sitting down for a good talk, and the gift of travel. They share important information whenever they can. When things aren't going right, they may suffer from mental confusion or try to be intellectually superior. They love to learn and be listened to. They feel good about themselves when they feel smart or intellectually competent for the task at hand. [/B]
Ceres in Gemini here and this is perfectly accurate. I need communication to feel accepted and get really depressed when people don't share my need for "talking." BTW, a big cheer for the dwarfs! I love them. IP: Logged |

@SoaringLeavesHi from another Gemini Ceres person! That reading fits me nicely, too, but I don't want to run errands with anyone. God no. I would much rather be alone. And I don't have any communication contraptions on me either. Not even a cell phone (well, I have one, but it's rarely turned on.) But that's my Pisces moon I guess. What dwarfs are you referring to? IP: Logged |

@FaithI think I don't care whether someone joins me for errands or not, but I appreciate the *thought* behind it. Re: "communication contraptions:" I can't stand them either and I'm an Aquarius, so it's not that I don't love tech, because I love it more even than the next person. It just drives me nuts not to talk face-to-face when that is possible. Re: the dwarfs: there are three larger than Ceres--Eris (which is estimated to be larger than Pluto), MakeMake, and Haumea. Another Ceres conjunct Chart Ruler here. It also trines Mercury and opposes Venus. How is that aspect working out for you Ceri?

@Soaring LeavesIt occurred to me as an afterthought what you meant, though I was half-hoping you took a totally random departure to these guys: Happy = Aries Ceres Bashful = Cancer Ceres Grumpy = Cap Ceres 'Haven't studied the other dwarf planets much. Well I studied Eris at length but remain confounded, and I think that's the whole point of it: tantalizing you with what's beyond articulation. I have Haumea exactly trine my sun, which may remove my singleton sun status as astrology develops in the future. IP: Logged |

If we're really going to try to assign a rulership to Ceres, I'd lean toward Taurus. Ceres would make a poor MacGiver or librarian, and only a so-so nurse, any of which Virgos would be right at home with. Ceres main rights are late April, beginning of the planting cycle.Don't care if she did get a promotion... Eris is not getting an entire sign to rule. Not on my watch. Just sayin'... IP: Logged |

I agree with the association with Taurus. Don`t ask for reasons, just feels like it. orb: 4 degrees. though of course I like them closer than that. You know me, Faith!

I wonder if that is why I became a teacher really. It is in 3rd house after all. I got all the good and bad sides of Ceres apparently. I mean for a long time I was obese, and Ceres does have to do with food, in my case it seemes to have become extreme with no boundaries. I blame pisces and more so the square to Neptune in my chart. No limits, no boundaries.
Interestingly some of my pupils sometimes call me accidentally "Mom". lol IP: Logged |

LOL! My brain is still sore from my latest T-Mercury opposition N-Neptune, so I can't think well yet. Anyhow, I'm pretty sure my Gemini Ceres isn't this guy.

Oh wow! Ceres discussion on Astro 2.0.Ground-breaking, Faithy. I had an interesting talk with Mar about our Ceres in Scorp the other day. The closest thing to Ceres in my chart is Pluto, but it's 6° away, so probably doesn't count. :/ It also squares moon. Ouch. IP: Logged |

My Ceres is in Taurus in the 8th. It has a lot of afflictions It is opposite Chiron, square Venus, and inconjunct Mars + Ascendant. Luckily it is also trine Mercury and Neptune, so that helps most definitely. I indulge in lots of food and like sensuality. ------------------ Aquarius Sun, Merc, Venus, Uranus, Neptune Scorpio Mars conj. Asc in First 8th House Moon opposite Pluto, Trine Uranus Have you caught onto the predicament I'm in yet? IP: Logged |

Ceres in Virgo/7th house, conjunct my Venus in Virgo. Trine my Uranus and Neptune, square Mars and Moon.My mom also has Ceres in Virgo but in her 3rd house. It's in the same degree as my Sun, conjunct her Pluto, sextile Neptune and biquintile Saturn. It's no secret that my mom is my favorite person, ever. My brother also has Ceres in Virgo/9th house, this time conjunct my Mercury and our mothers Uranus. My dad is the only one with a different Ceres - his is in Gemini/3rd house and in the same degree as my Gemini Mars! It's also conjunct my Moon, squares his Jupiter/Pluto/Chiron and sextiles his Mercury. IP: Logged |

I see Ceres as the ruler of Virgo. My Ceres is in Libra in the 3rd house, forming a sextile with my Leo Jupiter and Sagittarius Sun/Venus. IP: Logged |

T Ceres is about to be conjunct my north node along with t north node conjunct my natal ceres, all of this happening in July when Im due for my first child. That to me makes me think Ceres has just as much if not more to do with mothering than the moon.IP: Logged |

I agree with you. Especially when I look at my mom's Ceres - T Sun was exactly conjunct her Ceres when I was born. IP: Logged |

Taken from grupovenus.comCeres is the expression of the Earth Goddess archetype that has been worshipped in many forms by various cultures. This archetype has always been associated with mother earth, harvests, a transformational journey to and from the underworld, rites of passage, and the birth or resurrection of a fertility deity. The myth of Demeter (da mater or "earth mother") and the sudden abduction of her dearly loved daughter Persephone by the lord of the underworld contains the same universal symbolism as other Earth Goddess myths. These myths may appear, at first, to be early explanations for the changing of the seasons. They are actually wise, rich, symbolic teachings on such profound themes as loss and renewal, death and rebirth, and the endless transformation that constitutes the very laws of creation to which this universe and everything in it adheres. On a more personal level, the Ceres myth deals with the severance of the bonds of love and/or attachment. When we experience love as we have known it being taken from us, we can feel as if we have been cast into a realm of eternal darkness, never to return to the world of the living again. We may then be unable to let go of the past, reliving it again and again in our minds - protesting and resisting the present, and demanding that it somehow hand over to us the treasure that has been snatched away. Yet as with Demeter, who chose to forgo her divinity and wander in the world of humans, after which she was reunited annually with her transformed daughter, it is only when we can give up notions of eternal paradise and immortality that we can relinquish old attachments. Only when we have been humbled by and have accepted those mysterious cyclic forces beyond ourselves that we can be restored to a state of plentitude and abundance in the here and now. Then we can truly understand how our cup must be emptied in order to be filled afresh. Ceres in the birth chart thus describes what one really cares about, and the way one nurtures others (and needs to be nurtured oneself) in a parental kind of way. It also indicates where one may tend to cling, the kind of separations that can be traumatic, and what one may be required to give up (or share with others) in order to grow. It can also indicate the ways in which we seek for something that seems to be missing, something we didn't get enough of, as well as the ways that can help us mourn such a loss. As with Demeter and Persephone, Ceres can also indicate the kind of experience that constitutes a rite of passage - the most profound transformation: the death and rebirth of the self. IP: Logged |

quote: With Ceres in Sagittarius, nurturance is expressed through the sharing of life as a "quest," and is characterized by broadmindedness and optimism. You feel that true nurturing should instill a spirit of adventure and exploration, a search for knowledge or other ultimate goal, and the expansion of mental horizons. This could include travels, relocations to foreign lands, or the adoption of a foreign culture or world view as your own. Lack of this kind of philosophical nurturance at an early age could be a keenly felt source of grief that leads you to find ways to fulfill this need for yourself, thus enabling you to care for others in this manner. On the other hand such a lack may lead to a kind of cynical pessimism, or a sense of meaningless and drifting. Your image of the ideal mother figure is of one who is a mentor. Loss of faith or of a mentor figure, and parent-child separations due to travel, long distances, or belief systems could be transformative experiences that change your life and constitute an initiation into the lessons of loss and return, death and rebirth, and simply letting go.
