An American Dentist by the name of Walter Palmer is accused of illegally killing a famous lion in Zimbabwe named Cecil. Anyone notice this all came to light when the sun is in the sign of the lion? IP: Logged |

I hope Zimbabwe prosecutes him. The worst part of this whole mess is the next head lion will probably kill all of Cecil's cubs. Does anyone have Walter Palmer's stats? EtA: The hunting party knew they were wrong (poaching) which is why they tried to hide/destroy Cecil's collar. ------------------ "There ain't no revolution, only evolution, but every time I'm in Georgia I 'eat a peach' for peace." What's the dilemma here? Everyone knows who needs a big gun to kill a defenseless animal for sports. In this case, a magnificent endangered animal, the mascot of the park, totally friendly to humans, illegally lured out of the park to be killed. He paid $55,000 to shoot an arrow in it! Brave Mr Palmer http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/world news/africaandindianocean/zimbabwe/11767119/Cecil-the-lions-killer-revealed-as-American-dentist.html For Cecil isn’t just any old lion. He’s one of Africa most famous and beloved lions, the star attraction at the Hwange national park, and a YouTube sensation for tourists. He’s renowned as a gentle giant. Such popularity cut no ice with Dr Palmer. He and his fellow hunters tied a dead animal to their vehicle to lure Cecil out of the park, scenting an area half a kilometre away. Cecil took the bait and strayed outside. Dr Palmer pounced, firing his bow-and-arrow and striking Cecil. He’s a great shot. A New York Times profile of him in 2009 said he was ‘capable of skewering a playing card from 100 yards with his compound bow.’ But Cecil didn’t die. Instead, he stumbled off, wounded and bloodied, for 40 hours before Dr Palmer and his hunters finally caught up with him and shot him dead. They then beheaded Cecil, and skinned him, before leaving his rotting carcass lying outside the park. There was no report on whether Cecil died with a ‘dazzling smile’ on his face, but it’s probably safe to assume he didn’t. As a result of his death though, conservation experts say it is now highly likely that all Cecil’s recently born cubs will now be killed by the next lion in the hierarchy, Jericho – so that he can insert his own bloodline into the females. You don't believe this is a dilemma involving a lion since they haven't resolved it? Right now, as it stands, it's still a dilemma. Anyway, I realized last night all this became public while the sun is in Leo, the sign of the lion although the actual hunt happened in early July. I thought I would call attention to that here. I don't hunt or anything like that and think the man is selfish for taking an animal so dear to people's hearts. IP: Logged |

This is so, so sad... Everyone is furious where I live (I'm on the East coast). At least there is some divine justice at work: he hunted a beautiful creature for sport and now everyone hunts him. He probably lost his practice and even if he reopens it, I doubt anyone would go there after the flogging he got on Yelp.com. http://www.metro.us/slideshows/photos-angry-yelp-reviews-over-minnesota-dentist-accused-of-killing-lion/zsJogB---rjAdE1FTWll7U/ IP: Logged |

Just evil I tell you. I hope he is prosecuted in Zimbabwe, that was a lion from a preservation with substantial human interaction who was let out of the preserve baited by meat. IP: Logged |

Unfortunately, hunting nowadays is never really about sport anymore. People just do it to kill and in some cases, it's only to have a head and the animal's skin to show off as a status symbol. If it were about sport, they would have too difficult a time catching anything. As long as there are people who are willing to pay big bucks to go into an area and poach wildlife, there will be a market and it will likely continue.IP: Logged |

I wasn't mad at you BTW, this...I-have-no-name-for-him's dilemma for being into big game "hunting" ( I hope everyone knows this is no hunting; the state-of-the-art guns can be used by a 5y old and the "game" is practically "positioned" for these pathetic excuses for a human being - I guess I did find a name for him after all - to just shoot): “I don’t have a golf game,”, that's his explanation for practicing this "sport". He is born in 1960, but I couldn't find his DOB. EDIT: very beautiful animal, Cecil Cecil and Jericho fight IP: Logged |

It's easier to find his wife dob than his. "Mrs. Palmer was born Tonette Elizabeth Jensen in April, 1959. They got married when they both were 23 on March 26, 1983 in Hennepin county."So if they were both 23 on March 26th 1983 and the following month she turned 24 years old, it's safe to assume he was born between January-March of 1960. Apparently not even his fancy weapons could make that bast*** a good shot. He only wounded Cecil first. The poor animal fought for life for 40 hours (!) before that man managed to give him the coup-de-grâce. According to the public records, he was born in Jan 1960, but I couldn't find the day listed anywhere. IP: Logged |

He was getting all this positive press years ago for being one of the best in his "sport."From the New York Times: Stalking a Majestic Beast With an Eye on the Record Book quote: As the 2009 season approached, Walter J. Palmer, a dentist in his late 40s from Eden Prairie, Minn., paid $45,000 for a tag at an auction to finance preservation of the elk habitat. Palmer, said to be capable of skewering a playing card from 100 yards with his compound bow, has cultivated a purist’s reputation for his disinclination to carry firearms as backup. Learning to shoot at age 5, he has slain all but one of the animals recognized by Pope and Young.“I don’t have a golf game,” Palmer said. As the season began, Palmer was completing a year of probation. In 2008, court records show, he pleaded guilty to making a false statement to federal wildlife officials concerning the exact location of the slaying of a black bear during a guided hunt in Wisconsin. In his sentencing order, prosecutors had specifically agreed that the “defendant shall be permitted to possess archery equipment for lawful sporting purposes.”
Bad decision. IP: Logged |

Faith, it seems he has quite the record
Dentist who killed Cecil the lion faces backlash, expresses regret 2:14 The American dentist who killed a well-known lion in Zimbabwe also has a felony record over the hunting of black bear in Wisconsin, court documents show. Walter James Palmer sparked outrage when it emerged he killed Cecil the lion, a local tourist favorite who had been collared as part of an Oxford University research project. The Minnesota-based dentist said he had the correct permits to hunt and kill the animal earlier this month. But the two people he hired to lure the lion to its death have been charged with breaching hunting quotas and were due in court Wednesday. Following the incident, court documents emerged showing Palmer was fined $3,000 and given a year's probation after pleading guilty over the illegal killing of a black bear in Wisconsin in 2006. Image: A Zimbabwean lion called "Cecil" The much-loved Zimbabwean lion called "Cecil" pictured in October 2012. Zimbabwe National Parks via AFP - Getty Images, file Palmer had a permit to hunt bears within a certain area near Phillips, in the north of the state. But on September 1, 2006, he was part of a group of people who killed a black bear 40 miles outside this permitted zone, according to the court documents from April 2008. Realizing what they had done, the group agreed that "if any authorities were to ask where the bear had been killed, they would say" it was hunted within the correct area, the documents added. They transported the carcass to a registration station where they certified the animal had been killed legally, the documents said, adding that the body was later taken to Minnesota, where Palmer lives. Palmer was charged with knowingly making false statement to an agent of the Department of the Interior, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, having "falsely stated that he thought the bear had been killed legally" during interviews with officials the next month. According The Associated Press, citing the Minnesota Board of Dentistry, the dentist was also the subject of a sexual harassment complaint settled in 2006. He admitting no wrongdoing and agreed to pay a former receptionist more than $127,000, the AP said. He was also convicted in Minnesota court in 2003 for fishing without a licence. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/cecil-lion-killer-walter-james-palmer-has-bear-related-felony-n400226 IP: Logged |

haha exactly he couldn't even kill it, this target master Personally, I think these people are closet sociopaths and if hunting humans were legal, they would probably be the first to enroll. So nice to see these "elites" taking advantage of Africa. He practically destroyed worldwide patrimony, tortured and killed. There are only app. 30,000 lions left in the world. IP: Logged |

I agree. Jeffrey Daumer got started with animals, too. I can understand hunting to feed your family, as long as you are humble and humane about it. Killing for the sake of killing is purely sadistic, in my view. IP: Logged |

All right, so there's a global outrage about it and I read some of the reviews people posted on his business page on Yelp (expressing this outrage and sabotaging his business now). Apparently, Yelp deletes all reviews which don't include comments about the actual experience with this guy as a dentist, so it's funny to see how people try to include that. That's a funny one I read (as funny as it can be, in the context)Ugh, this dentist is not very good at all!! Worst dental experience EVER!!!! First, without any warning, he shot me with a bow and arrow. Then he just let me sit there for 40 hours in pain as I bled out.....no sedatives, nothing (Damn, I thought dentists were good at administering pain meds!!) Then to add insult to injury, he had a friend take a picture of my lifeless corpse with him posing above me!!! Please, by all means, avoid this dentist. Not only does he have terrible aim, but he lacks any bedside manner!! Don't get me started on how much pain he inflicted!!! Worst Dentist EVER!!! I agree, Faith, hunting to eat is different.
Thanks for posting, StarlightSmileSupreme, hopefully we get the DOB soon and we can take a look at the astro profile for such a case. ugh You are right, it is symbolic for the intense Leo energy Maybe it will eventually turn into something good for eradicating such practices. IP: Logged |

No kidding! ISIS is full psychopaths like him. Here is an interesting tidbit. No matter when in January he was born, on July 1, 2015 when he killed Cecil, t-Jupiter was exactly conjunct t-Venus conjunct n-Uranus (1-1.5° orb depending on the exact day). I bet that sadist felt like he won the lottery. Still, I want to think that in the grand scheme maybe this will have at least some positive impact, in the sense that it will boost the public awareness and help protect the animals. P.S. He was definitely born in January: http://www.familytreenow.com/search/people/re sults?first=walter&middle=j&last=palmer&state=MN&rid=0sl&smck=24Vz3wXZ0OJD2nCzbGHAaw
