If so how does it affect you? When i walk around with my fro people look at me like i am being inappropriate or crazy for walking around with my hair like that which i find very laughable but also a little annoying. But why is that? i honestly didn`t think afro was a big deal but by the looks i get almost everyday it apparently is. People look at me like i am not from this planet.

State your asc, mercury and moon signs too.

I am a gem asc, lib mercury and cancer moon.

I'm not black, but it angers me when people judge people by how they look, on the outside. Or judge people harshly.

I wish I had a fro. They're most likely just jealous.

I get treated differently when I have long hair as opposed to when I have my hair short. People are judgmental.

So did you send off for your birth certificate and get a time that changed it to Gemini? Seems like I missed something.

I don't have a birthdate for her, but here is Walida Imarisha.

If you got it wear it big

I think it has to do more with location.

You whould be better of doing a location chart to determine which places whould view it as inappropriate.

My theory is the overall views and beliefs of people located in an area are reflected in the location chart, otherwise they whouldn't live there.

I'm not female, I think afros are pretty cool I connect it to culture.

Problem is where I live now there isn't culture.

So the people aren't as open,

Back where I was originally from the people whould put a lot of effort into black history and even the holocaust.

Not here...I'm only here for another 10 months max then I go back to where I'm originally from.

Yeah i think so too which i find f.u.c.k.e.d up. I mean straight hair is never seen as inappropriate but with afro it depends on where you are, lol. I swear sometimes i want to punch those people in the faces that have the nerve to look at me like i am out of my mind. Its disgusting.

No, not at all and it doesn't affect me if they do think it's inappropriate. This is me and mine, and I will not damage my hair just so I look more "acceptable". It's just how my hair DNA turned out to be.

Unfortunately, good will and hair acceptance doesn't work in the corporate world, so I must either buzz it down or straighten it with an iron

One thing I do notice is that people tend to... Turn my hair into some fascinating yhing. My Leo self likes the attention but deep down it feels like a person wearing natural hair is a novelty rather than a normal thing to some folks.

Inappropriate? Who is it harming anyway?
IMO, don't mind the folks who think it's "crazy" to walk around with your natural hair. That's just silly.

Hell, you can walk around with a rainbow afro in a mismatched robe and bathroom slippers if you want. Your choice.

If you stop to think about these sorts of shallow reasons people judge you, then you'll get frustrated real soon. People will judge you even if you are damn near "perfect" by society's standards. so what's the point (of being affected by it)?

See the tabloids. See how they tear into celebrities and split hairs over the tiniest perceived imperfections.

Literally anything, even the most seemingly inoffensive thing can be "inappropriate/weird/crazy" to anyone, depending on their perspective. The same thing can be divinely beautiful to someone else. Who's to say how your appearance affects all those different kinds of people? Who's to say it even matters...?

Honey ,do you and screw the rest! Some people will always have something to say or judge you. Typically it's due to thier own frustration or thier just not happy in life therefor they critize or pass judgements off on to others because they lack. I can't say I haven't looked at new trends and thought what in the world but it's because it was new or I won't use to seeing it. Obviously that had nothing to do with the other person and then when I saw it more on others I was like O, it's a style. Fros are awsome in my oppinion and there is nothing strange about it or to be judgemental about. Your area could have something to do with it but in time other people will probably start wearing thier hair the same or you could start the trend. At the end of the day as long as your happy thats all that matters anyway.

Yes i have experienced the same thing that some folks find my hair " fascinating" lol. And why in the hell do we need to buzz it down or straighten it? it shouldn`t be like that and this is what i find f up. Screw them they better get used to more fros coming their way.

It matters to me and thounsends of other black girls that experience s.h.i.t like this just for looking like their natural self. Somewhere out there is a young black girl that thinks its something "wrong" with her bc of her skin color and her non white hair and s.h.i.t like that needs to stop. White isn`t the only "acceptable" way of looking and people need to get that through their thick ass sculls.

Well out there I'm sure that there are people who don't like me because I'm white or that I have a beard and look like a caveman. S**t happens.
I think the point was that no matter how determined you are (anyone) you will NEVER EVER change everyone's perception of you. It'll never happen.
So the more productive and less fruitless path to take is this approach. Because wanting to change perception is nearly impossible.
If someone is racist, being angry with them almost certainly reinforces that racism and I wish people could understand that.
If you love and are confident in yourself despite these things that you complain about then I think you'll be more likely to truly get what you're wanting.
I've lived with this within my own family. I'm very aware of what kinds of actions create other reactions.

Also, if you're on some level self conscious about it to where you're almost expecting these unfavorable responses then that's what you'll observe even if you're wrong. You always have to consider that you've misjudged someone else.
