Except that hurt and pain don't exist in anything other than physical form. The rest is an illusion given to the mind by ourselves to have something to hold onto and take like a crutch through life IP: Logged |

that may be true in an ultimate sense, but the process of healing is still valid. perhaps holding it in mind that suffering is essentially illusion, in a sense, and yet acknowledging the suffering (rather than repressing it, which is more destructive), is the key.IP: Logged |

I understand what Lara is trying to say and it is a strategy I try to apply to myself. Nobody could be my age, have three marriages and not have a whole sackful of crap! But here is a little story and I will try to be brief but it explains a lot. My brother was killed when I was four in a road accident. He didn't die straight away but was unconscious for 6 weeks. In my distant memory I can remember bits.He was 7. I was the only surviving child. My mother hardly ever spoke about him except to say that her and my father did not speak to each other for 2 years because of grief. I in response developed severe asthma which the doctor said was psychosomatic and I would grow out of it (true). Leaping ahead years. I once mentioned to a friend of mine (psychologist) that I can't bear people to sulk. My mother sometimes did if I annoyed her and it drove me crazy, and when I got older I refused to let her get away with it. And I hate tension in a house. Can't hack it for 2 mins. Anyhow she said "Well of course you react like that. You grew up in a household where your parents didn't communicate for 2 yrs. It must have been horrendous for a child" I was like "What?? You know it never occurred to me. It never occurred to me that my chidhood affected me in anyway. For the simple reason no one ever pointed it out. No one ever said "Oh you poor thing" So I just got on with life. And now I have completely forgotten where I was going with this So Valus. The car thing. All I meant by that was. The red faced fella calling you a stupid **** and giving you the finger may well be a psycopath but he may just be a well meaning bloke who has just lost his job, is driving home to see the wife and tell her. You pull out in front of him and you are the vent for his frustration. He probably couldn't knock the skin off a rice pudding in real life. You will just never know. But ******* it boy you do write some good stuff! If you had me on webcam you would be like "Bunnies, get some botox now cos you've got a huge number 11 between your eyebrows!" IP: Logged |

LOL!! Bunnies you know, your story is a sad yet perfect example of chakras and how they affect us. With no one talking nor expressing grief in your childhood, it is easy to see how a child will shut down her own THROAT/expression and HEART/feeling chakras to reflect the parents scenario. It's called mirroring and kids do it brilliantly. I hope that you are now over your asthma... the body is a remarkable vehicle which will do anything to protect you, and it did. The memory of yours stems from your own parents change in behaviour. I truly believe that if a child falls over, check that he/she is ok and nothing more. The more you play up to anything in their life, the more they will. Everything should seem or appear to be natural and then they will mirror 'natural' as opposed to "OMG!!! Are you alright? drama drama drama moment" IP: Logged |

Yep Lara you are right. The one thing they did do was not push me in any way. I didn't like water so I didn't learn to swim Fell off a bike once. Never taught again. Therefore I never pushed the envelope until I got to 11 when they had my sister and it was like "That's it kid you're on your own! And what a blessing. They lost interest in me as a primary focus and I could become myself. In a way I think it might have been from the best. Born into a high achieving family I would either have been a drug addict or a complete meglomaniac!! As it was I have developed into the well rounded individual I am today...no really I'm not that bad!!!IP: Logged |

Oh God Lara. I think (in Fact I know!) that I have an over active throat chakra (truly I'm Miss "Well let me tell you") but I Have a bit of a miserable showing in the "Heart area" and a complete no show in the "sacral" Oh no! Is this my chidhood coming home to roost? Why the sacral? No joking apart. I think I scored 2 out of a possible 100 on that score. I'm classed as an amoeba.IP: Logged |

LOL Bunnies... well maybe you just need to ground yourself a little as the base feeds the sacral. Either that or sh4g like a bunny ha haok joking apart. I think its the best thing when parents step back. I remember mine doing the same at age 12ish and i spent the rest of my childhood mastering the art of riding my bike all over my neighbourhood. I still love the combination of the wind in my hair and speed. It's very releasing and lets you find yourself. Your throat sounds just fine to me... in fact i think you are one of the most lateral and interesting thinkers here. your advice is always spot on and wonderfully out of the box yet perfectly sane! katatonic,I dont really disagree with anything you are saying. I think maybe I didnt explain my position clearly, so I'll try to clarify it. I think that a true master, by the power of thought, can control himself and even materialize objects, and do many other miraculous things... But this requires profound discipline. My objection is not to the philosophy of positive thinking, in general, but, to the excess and naivete with which it is practiced by so many people. Anything can be misused, and I seem to see this being misused quite a bit. Yes, it is perennial, but all great truths (even more than little truths) must be considered with a grain of salt. Maybe I am just being overly cautious, and I'm sure that, for the majority of us here, this stuff probably goes without saying. I think that "as a man thinketh" is a part of all great paths and teachings, but, for me, personally, it does not resonate to the extent that I would place it at the center of my metaphysics. Maybe if I had Pluto in Leo, it would be central to me; and, probably, that would be just as it should be -- but there are still pitfalls to be mindful of, as there are on any path, and it seemed worthwhile to point a few of them out. You spoke of Jesus.. The perennial philosophy I see more clearly than any other in his words is the truth of determinism. I believe it was central to his teaching. I hope I'm understood. Love to you, V IP: Logged |

Valus ~I was listening to Blood on the Tracks yesterday -- a song called "Idiot Wind," that I found very very appropriate after reading some things at LL yesterday (not in this thread)..... I must be going over to The Dark Side (Aries) -- this isn't like me to say exactly what I think without dressing it in diplomacy I blame it on tUranus conj nMoon IP: Logged |
