Seasonally Affected Disorder... or something like that? I have it.

I need sunshine but it is around negative 7 degrees here in the midwest and too cold for a walk. I am out of money and having a horrible time finding work, and can't purchase a cool light bulb.

I was wondering if anyone who reads this might share an excerpt from a favorite good book, that is not too deep or difficult to read, that would help me look at things in a more positive light? I need some motivation and some spiritual light to get me through this long dark night. I am too overwhelmed with things I need to do but haven't been doing to go to the library and search out books, so excerpts would be deeply appreciated.

Thank you

You are a strong woman.
Things will turn up OK.
I don't know what the situation is but landlords sometimes have hearts.
You may be able to hold off on the payment until you get a job. I am so sorry things are tough for you right now.

Hi Yin, I use paypal in conjunction with ebay to get my college books. I've been wondering today if the college thing is going to work out this semester, I was going to go part time while I worked, so that is adding to my current feelings of ... what do I feel? Just confused and without a sense of direction and motivation I think. Or maybe some motivation is there but I feel blocked at every turn. Here I am wallowing in my misery though. :/ I really need to turn things around. It is hard to envision good things for yourself to get things going in your life again when you get into this spiral of negative thinking. I try to pray but I can't feel the connection very often... I'm just in a negative rut.

Melody,
You can post your paypal here and ask people for donations. Nobody wants to see people kicked out on the street for not being able to make rent.
I am sorry you are feeling this way. I wish I can help.
Just... Have faith. Breathe. Surround yourself with friends. Sometimes a friendly physical presence is all we need.

I see your new post now... actually my landlord doesn't have a heart but I have an interview tomorrow for a job that starts Wed and I'm sure it will work out... well 80% sure... but I really need a boost from a positive book and teacher to give me the energy I need to pull everything together for the job and school and home and daughter. Thank you for your kind words but have you ever had that feeling that everything anyone says to lift you just falls into an endless pit that never fills up? Only God will help me now and I need a light to guide me back. Thank you for caring.

Yep. I've been feeling like this for months... I break out of it for a little while (sometimes hours, sometimes days), and then it's back.

What helped me briefly in October, was reading Michael Newton's latest book (in regards to past lives/life between lives). I know that you can find him (and Brian Weiss), on youtube. I can't think of anything else right now, but I'll have a look through what's left on my shelves.

I have Man's Search For Meaning, out of the library, too.. somewhere around here.

MM~

I have Seasonal Affect Disorder as well. I use a tanning bed when it gets bad, studies show that the U.V. rays from them really do help (in moderate use of course) I understand your finances won't allow this at the time, but it's something to keep in mind later.
My cousin has the fancy light bulb, I tried it and didn't think much of it.
Try putting brighter bulbs in the lamps you have. Keep as many lights on as you can. Open your drapes and blinds as much as possible.
Even putting your face to the window when sun is shining helps. Sometimes, I drive in my car on sunny days, just around for a little while, listening to the radio and feeling the sun shine through my car windows.

What kind of passages from books are you interested in reading? What sort of books?

Do the feelings of being completely overwhelmed come in huge tidal waves for you all too?

I wish I was able to be a better friend to you Melody, i'm not able to right now. And on top of having S.A.D. remember that as Capricorn risings, we have a bunch of planets transiting the 12th house at this time of year - never the easiest or funnest of times. I've always felt like that has made this time of year even harder to deal with, personally anyway.

Soon, they will cross over the Asc and into the first house and things should start to look brighter and the energy and mood should pick up a bit.

Lot's of Love ladies.

I posted this link elsewhere and the mediation may help. I dont know only because I havent tried it consistently.
http://orinaffirmations.paradisenow.net/inner-sun-doorway-eternal-sun.html

(more at link)

quote:
“Let your physical heart, in a vivid visualization, flare up into a radiant ball of light as the sun and tell yourself: 'My divine heritage flares up within me as bliss, freedom, light and love. God wishes it so, as do I wish it so. I am one with the Will of God. I allow my whole body to be filled with this light, I even allow it to radiate beyond me, until my body and all around me fills with brilliant light, as if from the sun.'

Max Prantl

This mystic sunrise, which is experienced as a vivid visualization only within the physical body, is an immediately effective, visible reality within the astral body. With the fire of your divine will (it's enough to vividly think: I will to be light and free), you are really and literally burning all the darkness and distortions within your consciousness.”

Max Prantl continues to explain that doing this exercise will also help dissolve any diseases we may have manifested in our bodies (short translated excerpts forthcoming).

According to Prantl, we are becoming (or rather have the choice to do so) Eternal Suns - and I find it a fascinating correlation that on one of my Orin meditation tapes, Orin says the same thing, i.e. that our final destination is to become a sun.

Vitamin D and full spectrum light helps a bit.
That would cost about $15.00 for a small spiral one and a bottle of vitamin D.

In the infinity of life where I am, all is perfect, whole, and complete.

I no longer choose to believe in old limitations and lack. I now choose to
begin to see myself as the Universe sees me - perfect, whole, and complete.

The truth of my Being is that I was created perfect, whole, and complete.

I will always be perfect, whole, and complete. I now choose to live my life from this understanding.

I am in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing.

All is well in my world.

teasel, I saw you joined the Brian Weisse page and I checked it out yesterday afternoon/early evening and watched the video there. My mom loved his book back in the day and I have read bits and pieces and I think there was a movie... I hope any excerpts posted give you a lift too.

Gypsee, I will open my blinds... it is true that that will help but I have kept them closed because it helps keep out the cold. I can open them for a few hours though. I need to. Thanks for the idea.

T, I read what you posted last night and tried it a little. I felt the energy spreading in my chest and then started to wonder if I was just setting my chest on fire and then thinking no, no, Light of God! And then feeling depressed like maybe I was no longer worthy of the Light of God. I tell ya, I get freaky and weird with my thoughts sometimes. I then decided to just try to go to sleep but ended up watching some Law and Order thing about a dead baby because it was the only thing on and the last 15 minutes of some dating show with a conveyor belt had cheered me up and I really wanted to watch more TV to get my mind off my worries. Dead baby show. yay. I see your sunflower pictures today, thank you for all of your trouble. And you are always a good friend to me. ♥

Lexx, well, I do have multi-vitamins so I should take them to get the vit D. I will do that, thank you.

Spanky, what you posted is just what I was hoping and praying for when I posted this thread. Easy, simple, uplifting. Thank you so much. I have a couple of her books and can get the one out of daily affirmations. That will help some! Thank you! If anyone has anything else short and simple like that that has worked for them in the past I would really appreciate your sharing.

pire, my rent is cheap, I'm a single mother living in a trailor... the problem is I have been working temp jobs for half a year now so I don't know when I'll have work from one day to the next. There was nothing over the holidays so now I don't have enough for my rent. I've got a phone interview today for the Muscular Dystrophy Association to do a cute fund raising thing for them for three weeks and I am happy about that, but the rent is due today (well, due the first but they give you five days after with no late fee) and I only have a little over a hundred when the rent is $300 and I need to pay the after school program $40 to start my daughter Wed if I get the job. I am just stressing because I will have to wait weeks to get paid for the first time from the MDA place and the landlord will send a 5 day eviction notice. I've got to take my daughter to school. I hate talking about all of this anyway... but it seems once I get started...

I can't afford that amount but I can send 100 euros

but I'm paid around the 10th, hopefully by thursday or friday.

how can I send it? paypal? and how long does it take with it? I know of "western union" but there is a fee though if I remember, is it the same with paypal?

pire How kind when you don't even know me. Just the thought alone helps me feel a little better. Don't worry about the money... I am just "talking" about it to get the worry out of my head. I've been "temporarily out of cash" (Iyanla Vanslant says to say that instead of "broke") for over a year now. My parents have helped me and pretty much look down on me now, and I don't want to ask anyone else for financial help. I really hate this thread. It has become a pit of my moaning and complaining combined with the evidence that I have "failed at life" when I was hoping it would be a little beacon of LindaLand Light and magic that might help me find my way.
Pire, all I can say is that I want to know you so much. Anyone who would do that for someone who is basically a stranger has a super huge heart. Thank you so much.

That is not a good feeling at all, not having enough to make ends meet. I know how it is, but it's got to be even worse with a child. As a triple earth sign I find it very unsettling not to be able to support myself properly or find solid ground. Uranus has been in my 2nd house for a long time now and must be in yours too. Jupiter is about to head into Pisces and will eventually conjunct it - hopefully this will be the beginning of some relief in this area. If I had it, you know I'd help you out and i wish i could. Right now I'm paying the cheapest rent i've had to pay in awhile (which i am so thankful for), but that still doesnt usually leave me with much left. Money is sporatdic and up and down - as Uranus/Pisces would have it. It's really one of the worst feelings to live this way. I'm wondering if maybe your parents could help you out a bit? Just a thought - one which you probaby already had. I dont know what's going on in that department and you don't have to "go there". Really hoping you can find some secure work that you enjoy, quick. Sending good thoughts your way. Hopefully things will start to change for the better when the planets start transiting your first house. Hang in there, Mel.

((((hugs))))

Stop it!!! We understand! And any person with strong Cappy energy would tend to feel that way. I get you there. Please don't feel bad though. You need to vent sometimes and be reminded that people DO care. You are far from a failure! A lot of people are in positions like this right now.

Right, I've been in this situation before but not as scary. My postive affirmation is a quote from someone, I can't find it so it'll be paraphrased but something like action being the best medicine for depression. It's not so benign as "depression" for you really though at the moment huh? More like anxiety. My god I feel for you right now. I don't want to offend your dignity in any way by suggesting any of these things but:
1) Have you asked family for a loan?
2) Have you asked friends for a loan?
3) Can you sell anything? (this is my fallback tactic on many occasions)
4) Is your bank able to give you an overdraft temporarily?
5) Have you considered phoning the landlord and asking him to accept part payment on your rent before the eviction notice comes through? Even the nastiest landlord would rather accept something than nothing in my experience
6) Ditto with the school if you explain your circumstances.

You don't have to reply to any of this here and if I can help you in any way please contact me on FB. I feel for you, it is hard to muster strength when you feel you have none to give. If anyone deserves the light of god it is you love.

no, I'm actually quite an assh0le, but you don't have to feel embarassed. I've been there, I'm unable to send more because I'm struggling too (it's my saturn return - had the first wave and waiting for the second and third hit) anyway, I can't let you be evicted and still post here. no way!

my leo/aries moon sister (who's helped me financially a lot) always says "there are no problems, only solutions. paypal seems one

actually, I'm aware that what I want to send is not enough and I'm hoping others here can help you and your daughter to NOT BE EVICTED IN JANUARY. so, what about paypal?
