Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship.

You will see no cute little smiley faces on this ~ Just the stone cold truth of our great friendship.

1. When you are sad ~ I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry ******* who made you sad.

2. When you are blue ~ I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

3. When you smile ~ I will know you are thinking of something that I would probably want to be involved in.

4. When you are scared ~ I will rag on you about it every chance I get until you're NOT.

5. When you are worried ~ I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining.

6.. When you are confused ~ I will try to use only little words.

7.. When you are sick ~ Stay the hell away from me until you are well again.. I don't want whatever you have.

8. When you fall ~ I will laugh at your clumsy as$, but I'll help you up.

Actually,
that's not my reality.
My friends aren't like that.

If that's what you call a friend,
I have to wonder about your enemies.

It's easy to handle people roughly.
It takes courage and heart to be tender.
"Tough love" can turn the most beautiful
people into bitter and cold machines.

I think sometimes we get lost and confused,
and we think that's the way to go, but,
really, we've just been brought up without
the necessary love and proper instruction.

No, it's not all sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows.
You have to tell the truth, -- but, the whole truth
has more to do with understanding than with judgment.

I was an alcohol abusing suicidal teen, so I'm like ultra-sensitive to #1. in particular.
I will battle these demons my entire life.

I only know I don't want to drag people down with me and I hope I can keep someone from such a fall.

Dealing with such a situation at this very time...a beautiful young man, incredibly gifted, full of doubt, just taken to rehab and I can't help but feel his pain simply because I KNOW what's it's like.

personally i avoid the nasty kind of friends and Friends by not inviting anyone in until i know them. on the social networks like myspace and fb that translates into small numbers and who cares?
