They have great bi-polar medications now to treat mental problems specifically. If people would get over the stigma of treating mental illness, I think many individuals would rely less and less on recreational drugs like alcohol and marijuana. IP: Logged |

My father would NEVER go to a doctor or take any kind of medication like that. He just wouldn't. It's all a government conspiracy to him and if anyone ever suggested he might be bipolar, I'm sure he would have thrown some plates at us or something.So.. Yeah.. I don't have any negative experiences with pot. I tried it a couple of occasions. Boring, in my opinion. But I did see a movie and go to dinner with Montel Williams several years ago and he talked quite a bit about medical marijuana. Really smart guy. Eloquent. I have no doubt pot really benefited him. I've never, nor would I EVER argue against people, like Montel Williams, using Marijuana as a pain reliever for excruciating and chronic pain. That ISN'T the way that other's use Marijuana. People use it to just get high. Some, use it to self-medicate mental illness, when it has never been shown to cure mental illness. IP: Logged |

I also doubt that anyone with a parent or relative who habitually uses would be open to hearing about alternatives, considering the associations and issues that surround that...I have had, however, the good fortune of bumping into a mother who struggled with a son with substance abuse problems - she told me she wished she had never smoked pot around her son growing up, and felt that her influence, as well as her partner's (alcoholic partner) had an effect on forging her son's identification with drugs. For the sake of not having the guilt alone, I wished she had not smoked pot, too. I'm done for the night, though, trying to argue for caution in a "pro-marijuana" society. It was just another idea, out of the blue, but something I feel passionately about. Recreational drugs are drugs that should be handled with responsibility, by responsible individuals, and under the supervision of a medical professional. Habitual marijuana use will never be ok for me or my family. IP: Logged |

It's not much of a pro-marijuana society . Even here in California the voters haven't made it legal yet.IP: Logged |

Just for the record, I thought my comment was quite constructive. Can this at least be moved to Health and Healing? IP: Logged |

And, you can't blame me that your friends willingly left. Randall has welcomed them back, and they never came...You however have stayed and lingered around my threads getting upset that I defend my own points, especially when I was nice enough to give you a warning that this was going to be a heated discussion... You can't blame me for your lack of motivation and creativity - or lack of discretion. If you don't like my threads, don't read them. I do a pretty good job of avoiding material that's boring to me, in fact, I have a talent for it... You won't see me chasing you guys down, whining and crying on your threads. It just will not happen. IP: Logged |

Because, who the heck else was AG talking to with his last comment? Was it for everyone else but me on a thread I started? If you got a big deal about ME, why don't YOU do something for yourself? IP: Logged |

anyway, i think pot is a tool for seeing more deeply into one's own thinking process. at least, that is how i experience it and my impression of how most people do. lots of people say pot makes them feel paranoid, but i think what is happening is there is a slight disconnect from the 'autopilot' chatterings of the mind (much like meditation) and as a consequence, one can feel disoriented and fearful. i personally experience/d this to a minor degree but worked with the information i was gleaning about my own mind, hangups, preconceptions, etc, and found it to be incredibly liberating, a way, even, to communicate with the Source (which dwells behind the chatterings). it, as anything, can exacerbate psychosis, sure, but on the whole i do feel it is a valuable tool for self realization, creativity and general relaxation, and letting go of unnecessary mind rubbish.IP: Logged |

I probably dominate the threads that I start, which generally have great participation... Otherwise, recently I have "dominated" in group settings with other like-minded folks... I don't go trolling other people's threads. That's not my style. And, Woah Cakes, I'm not changing for your sake. So, if you don't like my personality, then tough titty. IP: Logged |

who is trolling?you just don't seem to understand the spirit that existed here before you came. and that is sad, especially because you seem to be so proud of how you've helped 'reform' lindaland, or something. it feels more like a police state than a spiritual oasis these days. sad. yeah, many MANY people i love are GONE. same for so many of us. what right, seriously WHAT RIGHT do you have to speak to our feelings. it takes a lot to make me angry but MY GOD. YOU started a thread on a PUBLIC forum. you don't own this thread. i feel quite sick. lindaland used to be beautiful, home, loving, a family. i will stop writing now because i feel i could go off. and if you know me at all (i've been here for YEARS), i never do. Go ahead and rally the troops, Woah Cakes. I know what you're doing. Regardless, I am not going to play into your pity-ploy "victim" game. Have a nice night! IP: Logged |
