Randall cant things be changed for good to make it a better place for everybody in a way as the word GLOBAL UNITY needs its due recognition there?

GU is a charged forum because most debates are emotionally subjective . Unity isn`t based on emotions or ones personal agenda or belief. Unityis derived from the Latin "one". Needless to say here , people can not be one but they can be one unto themselves. be the change you want to see One can walk through GU with with dignity or one can be goaded into a *** for tat debate that runs amok and sends good people running wondering what just hit them.
Mama always told me, don`t start something you can`t finish.
To participate effectly, find your objectivity, know your subject , be aware of emotional trappings and again be the change you want to see.

juni  I can't go to that forum anymore because it does infuriate me. It is mean. People say some pretty cruel, sarcastic things there and if you are prone to taking things personally, it's not the place to be. It is hard to separate who we are and what we believe from "facts", and I think the problem is that political "facts" can just as easily be fiction, depending on who reports them. But as it's been said so many times, if one doesn't like the feel of that forum, there are MANY other forums to participate in that are not so heated. Juniperb, you are right, but it's easier said than done.The last time I went through GU I saw a very tasteless post about slavery and something to the effect of "it wasn't white people that did it, it was your own people" Why even go there and even if you do go there should you not keep in mind that there are people of color here and that this is a very sensitive subject towards us or any race or creed that has had a history of slavery? I'm not well versed in politics, so I just stay away, otherwise I'd be a hell of alot more angry than what Glaucus was yesterday :/ IP: Logged |

Actually, Linda loved debate, and through letters, she would use her outstanding writing skills to decimate those she disagreed with quite effectively. I think she would have endorsed having GU and would have peacefully participated most of the time. But Linda was known to have a bad temper also. She was quick to anger, quick to say she's sorry, quick to forgive, quick to ask forgiveness, and quick to feel remorse. Like the time she broke the china doll in a fit of rage and then tried to glue it back together piece by piece.  IP: Logged |

This is what I think. I am a minority---Jewish.
I am a Christian---Hated by many.
I think being Black is harder than either of these.
When I find a black person who can LOVE white people, I am amazed,astounded.
I bow at their feet for that type of grace.

However, I think LL is like life. There are HORRIBLE people in this world.

They are everywhere. I do not go to GU so I don't know about the fight,there.

Yes randall i can see all that you state to relate to sweet peas forum!
Where people come get offended and dont mind entering the same again and again to discuss and debate their most fragile and personal problems and views!!
Dont you see the difference randall...why people dont mind entering into SWEET PEAS but feel much repulsive when it is about GU!

Yes! This is the reason why I wanted my 30 and can't get right thread CLOSED because it was turning into a GU thread. Who wants that stuff on the same thread that they opened up to others on. Sweet Peas started an all-out war here when it opened that far exceeded any argument in GU. Plain and simple, I wouldn't have any Forum here that I did not believe Linda would approve of. This site is all about her, for her, and in dedication to her. ------------------
