I like finding out how people see, read or pick up completely different nuances in the cast members and their relationships with each other even though we are watching the same show with the same people, interesting how different we can perceive everything.
Well said. And Married at First Sight is better for this than, say, The Bachelor, because you have the same cast becoming more familiar over time. There's more opportunity to really study the zoo animals...er, I mean, reality stars. No insult intended it's just...kind of a wacky spectator sport. That I happen to really like. More to say later, hope everyone here is doing well. IP: Logged |

Catching up some more...I finally checked out the trailer for Jersey Belle...that girl seems clever. I like that she uses the word "micro-culture." And her life seems kinda bizarre...I might watch that one, too! quote: I think it makes him really special and it's impressive how much he's honoring her emotions and letting her take the lead in a way. Letting her know that he's not going to push her into anything and is okay with waiting until she's comfortable.
It really is impressive. Someone asked on one of the Twitter accounts or Facebook pages..."Can we clone Doug?" LOL...there's probably a lot of women who are looking for his good old-fashioned manners. And muscles. =) quote: They are sweet in a genuine, mature kind of way. Not sick-sappy. Doug is a true gentleman. And yes, I think she is really sensitive and has a good heart too.
I like them both. Kudos to her for rising above her circumstances and making the best of it. She's down-to-earth and a bit glamorous at the same time...great combination. quote: Glad this show will be renewed for a second season. It's fun to talk about.
I know right?! I just hope Lonake gets us the birthdays again...dunno how she did that or how I would survive the suspense of not knowing. No pressure Lonake, if you're reading. Just keep us in mind if you're feeling generous again when that time comes. =) quote: The trip w/ your girlfriend sounds fun. I am a northern girl too - no wonder we click like we do.
Yes! It's amazing to me how much geography affects compatibility. (That and being in the same Pluto/Neptune generation!) I missed the trip, sorry to say...she's there without me. I have to pack for going to our other house, sooner than I thought. I should be packing now but wanted to try and get my computer life squared away a bit first... quote: I might not initially like her or how she reacted to my son on their wedding day either. I'd probably be overprotective of him and hurt for him with how she reacted to seeing him at first. Mom needs to let that go now though and realize there's more to her and things have changed and that she seems like someone who will treat her son right.
Exactly. Plus...I guess part of me dreads the time when I will have to deal with my children dating and marrying. I like to think I will handle it with compassion and wisdom, not just turning all sour-puss when someone challenges My Baby. I don't want to be like how she's acting...or how the cameras have been portraying her. She may have her more gracious moments that they are editing out. quote: And I too can usually see through the "villains" they cast - or can see that they are using the worst footage of some people in order to paint them in a certain light. And others making look innocent sweet etc. They need angels and devils and contrast etc to make a show interesting to watch.
Same..I've seen too much of that, even with the limited time I've spent watching reality TV. The Bachelor is ridiculous that way and apparently the cast is given suggestions to play up a certain role, to please the directors, and they can either assent to that or be themselves. *eye roll* To me it's just a corny distraction, people being fake when they could have been more real and interesting. As the saying goes: Truth is stranger than fiction. (Therefore, more entertaining!) quote: At times I like Monet and other times Vaughn. It's hard to get a full picture anyway and they can only choose a small amount of footage to cram into one episode. They obviously want to pick the most dramatic or interesting parts.
Vaughn is apparently really facing hard backlash for the threesome comment and defended himself in an interview...he posted it on his Twitter, and I'm such a kook I actually look at these people on social media. *blush* Anyway, he said the dinner was playful and they got a bit tipsy and opened up to each other with all kinds of questions like that...if he had known how it would be cut and pasted to "frame" him, he never would have asked the question. My sun square Pluto shudders at the thought of people cut and pasting me like that. And then having to face people on the street who accuse me of being the "TV character" that live footage of me was used to create. What a pain in the neck! quote: Will be very interesting to see how this one plays out in the end!!
Am I the only one who's daydreaming about seeing Doug, Jamie, and their baby on the cover of People magazine about two years from now? LOL Can't wait for next episode, I'm definitely going to be crying along with Jamie when she's visiting her ramshackle trailer home. I got teary just watching her try to keep her composure in the previews, when she's explaining that she was "testing" Doug to see if he'd be sensitive about it. Talk to you later! =) IP: Logged |

"zoo animals" I know what you mean.Yeah, I think I tried to watch the Bachelor once years ago, but found them all to be really phony and couldn't get into it. This show is way different and better. quote: Can't wait for next episode, I'm definitely going to be crying along with Jamie when she's visiting her ramshackle trailer home. Same here & it will be interesting to see how he handles it. Might be back later. I'm cooking dinner for a friend and myself tonight. IP: Logged |

^ I did cry a little bit. I would never be able to do that. Would NOT open up after knowing a guy for two weeks, and not on camera. I don't know what the producers were pushing for, and why she even had to revisit the trailer park? It made me uncomfortable like...this shouldn't have happened. It doesn't make good TV if they are exploiting someone's pain just to add some depth and interest to the show. --- How NICE that Doug's mom said that she's always felt warm towards Jamie. I feel like she healed it all up, with that one sentence. I almost cried at that, too. Actually my nose is tingling just writing this...heheheheh. Wish I could have been there for the hugs afterward. LOL Doug's dad is super cute, I like his mustache, and I liked him right away. --- The way that Jamie felt about the experts, ie "I have no parental guidance, therefore I need some outside help" is the same way I've described my interest in astrology. As in, astrology sees me for who I am, just like a parent would, and can direct me. --- Yuck to Jason's wrestling, just yuck. Please no more. Where can we send our letters of protest, to make it stop? --- Vaughn and Monet, when they are cute together, they are REALLY cute. I'm with Vaughn about the honey having to be ORGANIC, cuz the bottled stuff doesn't taste good. It's usually adulterated. I just eat honey the regular way however. Like, in tea. IP: Logged |

They have to accelerate everything given the short time frame. I didn't think it was *that* horrible because the trailer was obviously empty and for sale/sold it wasn't as though her mom was still living there. The part where she was crying alone on the stoop and said she didn't feel close to Doug has me worried... I think she will really like him as a friend but will find it hard to open up more physically. I see a problem with Jamie having expectations that Doug still doesn't meet.

Faith, I thought the same thing when I watched Jamie have to go back to her childhood trailer - "This is staged and she's been coerced by producers to do this and it's not right." I'm sure the contract she signed didn't help her out. The producers probably forced her to do that scene for the show and go back there, with no regard to how it might affect her.Seeing the previews for next week's episode made me go...."Uh-oh" This whole thing might be too much for her right now and reality is coming crashing down. The previews always make the next episode seem more dramatic than it usually is though. starmoon, Yeah, I notice the trailer seemed to be in the process of a revamp or reconstruction and it seemed a bit OTT for her to have to go back there at that point. I hope the situation doesn't set her back years and that she's able to focus on her present life enough to not close completely up. IP: Logged |

Faith, yeah, nice that Doug's mom seemed to open up. His dad seems really cool and laid-back. Agreed about Jason's wrestling hobby - Yuck. It seems to be more popular with southern folk so maybe Cortney will be more accepting of it - even more attracted to him because of it? lol They might just be perfect for one another. Vaughn and Monet....Vaughn and Monet......LOL I just don't know anymore. I saw some people coming down pretty harshly on him for suggesting a 3-some to his new wife who he barely knew on that previous episode. I agree it was pretty slime ball of him and made him sound like a horny 16 year old boy w/o much relationship experience and I'm kind of surprised Monet let that one go too. I'd have been really turned off and probably never been able to switch it back on. The sex must be really good between them. I think they both know it won't last and they are just having fun now. I'm not a fan of either of them at this point. I don't think either of them are experienced enough for marriage at this point. IP: Logged |

As the saying goes: "To everything a reason, a season, or a lifetime."I think with Vaughn and Monet it's "a reason." They might learn and grow from this experience a bit and that is good. But I think that's all they are supposed to get from their union. If they don't part ways I will be very surprised. IP: Logged |

T, now I agree about Vaughn and Monet...after the last episode, I just can't see it ever working out. And I would have divorced Doug for the whopper about smoking. Dr. Joseph could judge me til the cows come home, but I wouldn't stick around for any more of that. Funny how I said at the beginning that he reminds me of one of my brothers...and that brother used to lie through his teeth the same way, driving me up a wall. (And he might still lie, I just don't live with him anymore or see him except once in a blue moon.) I've even told people that my brother is the only liar I love and will put up with. Not that I have never lied or never would...but I rarely lie, and I certainly wouldn't lie over pathetic cr*p like that and get all antagonistic to deflect the matter and try and switch the blame. I mean, it's a matter of character: stand up, admit fault, take the punishment head-on. DO NOT just turn crazy! In order to be that crazy, I think you actually need to have had a lot of practice with lying...it's a kind of behavior you can't whip up on the spot, it's more the culmination of years of sneaking around and manipulating people. I'm disappointed in Doug but...honestly he reminded me too much of my lying brother, right from square one, I almost expected this. Jason and Courtney were cute this last episode, sometimes it looks like Real Love. But the previews for next week's episode spoiled it. Let me just spend the time between episodes being happy for what's going well...let me get a little mileage out of seeing their sweetness...don't ruin it straight away with previews that burst the bubble. How is that good TV? Who came up with that formula for how to promote a TV show? IP: Logged |

I just re-read my comment and thought, "WTF, why are you taking it so seriously?" I dunno. Pardon me, I'm just in a strange mood. ETA: And who knows, maybe liars can be rehabilitated...maybe Jamie can actually cure Doug of whatever's making him do that. It's not like anybody is perfect. I was just saying, knowing myself, I know that I wouldn't have decided to be the one to train him to be honest. I've never had an interest in teaching people that (aside from my own children.) LOL I just watched it. yes - what the heck Doug????? Why did he lie about something so stupid? When he could've just said, "Yes, I caved in and had a cigarette." And then continued to work on quitting. I'm sure Jamie would've been fine with that seeing as how she likes him so much. It makes me nervous about him now, and a little suspicious. I understand when she was saying how she didn't want to be with a guy she needed to teach how to be in a relationship. I've been in a similar relationship and it was one of many reasons I broke up with him. Jamie needs and wants to be with a man at this point in her life and she deserves that. The lie about smoking situation the way he did was really childish of him. quote: Not that I have never lied or never would...but I rarely lie, and I certainly wouldn't lie over pathetic cr*p like that and get all antagonistic to deflect the matter and try and switch the blame. YES Did you catch the part when she said something about him being selfish (i think) and he said he'd been told that before. :/// Looks like things are back on for them in the next episode. I really hope he doesn't do something like that again. It's not nice to do to anyone, but especially someone like her with everything she's been through. I'm wondering about his maturity level at this point.

I've thought the same thing. Although they could be setting us up. I wouldn't be surprised if it were to make us think Cortney and Jason won't make it, but there will be a twist at the end and they will. We shall see! IP: Logged |

Hi T!Thank you for talking this out with me. Obviously I was not handling the news well. LOL quote: yes - what the heck Doug?????
OMG it pretty much ruined the show. Even when he was standing in front of the apartment *acting* contrite about it, it was a poor acting job and just...ugly. quote: I'm sure Jamie would've been fine with that seeing as how she likes him so much.
Right. quote: I've been in a similar relationship and it was one of many reasons I broke up with him. Jamie needs and wants to be with a man at this point in her life and she deserves that. The lie about smoking situation the way he did was really childish of him.
Totally. 'Can't handle people being childish like that. (Childish in some other ways is fine, though!) It's a shame in this case because Doug has so much going for him...why does he have to be defective? :/ Who knows where the selfishness comes from, but I think Monet is the same way, and I'm wondering if it's a stellium thing. The sun has all these other planets clustered around it, so the sun/ego feels popular (?) Like "I'm so important all the planets come to me." Hmm. Anyway, I wonder if I'll be able to look at him in a positive light again. I'm trying to be forgiving and flexible (um, not that it matters to anyone...LOL) but like you said about Vaughn and the threesome question, when the switch goes off, it stays off. quote: I've thought the same thing. Although they could be setting us up. I wouldn't be surprised if it were to make us think Cortney and Jason won't make it, but there will be a twist at the end and they will. We shall see!
Silly me, I spelled Cortney wrong above! I think you're right...we're, like, totally onto the producers' game. It helps that the brides all went on The View and revealed that they are still married. But the episodes could show that the marriages aren't as happy as we might've thought at the beginning. I'm puzzled that Jamie did say AFTER the lying incident that Doug is "the best guy ever" so maybe he re-earned her trust. I like to think people can reform ourselves or at least change a bit as our charts progress. But I'm scratching my head about her turnaround. Yup, we shall see. IP: Logged |

Anyone else still watching?? I am so annoyed with Jason. Why the heck did he sign up for the show if he thought Fire Academy would destroy the marriage?
It's almost like he WAS doing it just for fame, and didn't expect to actually like the girl? Poor Cortney, his waffling about the decision must've hurt. Doug and Jamie were cute again, she is sweet to forgive him. I like that he chalked his lie up to "insecurity." That seemed very raw and honest...like he is countering his dishonesty with extra openness. Ok then, there is hope for him. They are just ooozing physical chemistry. I have no idea how they held out so long against consummating the marriage. And good for Vaughn and Monet, working things out. The matching watch gifts were pretty indicative of compatibility, I think. IP: Logged |

I think I missed an episode somewhere along the line. The last one I saw was where they sat down with the counselor in their homes re: their issues. All I remember is that Monet's full of it and that Doug and Jamie still hadn't knocked boots. Oh and I think Cortney's fabulous. And I still feel bad for Vaughn that he has to put up with Monet's general weirdness. If I were Vaughn I would've dumped her ass so fast. Kudos to him for being so laid back about things.IP: Logged |

Interesting thing about Monet is her stellium in Aquarius, and also Jason's Aquarius moon. Both of them - aside from Jamie, for other issues - are the most hard-to-reach and guarded. It's interesting - for me, anyhow - to see the Aquarius traits play out in Monet/Jason. I have dated tons of Aqua men with the placement in Sun/Moon/Venus and they do have a general coldness and reserve and weirdness, even when they don't think they do. Seeing it played out is fascinating. I actually don't hold out much hope for any of the couples making it long-term. IP: Logged |

^ Yeah, now that you mention it...I can see the Aqua influence!I'm glad that Vaughn and Monet divorced...Lonake, he's free for you now The article I read said that they fought more off camera and couldn't even remain friends. Cortney looks pregnant (!!!!) in this picture: http://nypost.com/2014/09/10/which-married-at-first-sight-couples-found-wedded-bliss/ Good luck to them And Jamie and Doug finally consummated the marriage and it got into the papers. hehehehhe ...awkward. Then again, most people do have sex after marriage, right? They say they are really in love now...looking forward to the reunion show. Interesting that both couples with the trine suns lasted (so far.) If only the experts panel would keep that in mind for the next season... IP: Logged |
