No foreigner who is not an "immigrant" to Mexico, living in Mexico can own real property in Mexico. That's the law.In cases where tourists and non residents want to purchase Mexican property they cannot do so directly. A trust is set up which actually buys and owns the real property but the non resident or tourist cannot directly own real property in Mexico. In the case where a non resident or tourist establishes a trust which would buy and own real property, there is an exclusion zone into which the trust cannot buy. The exclusion zone includes beach property out to about 30 miles from shore and property near Mexican borders out to about 60 miles. IP: Logged |
