So the original motivations of the warmongers can be totally different from the motivations of the people who are often (pardon me) just outright manipulated into believing in a war narrative that is at odds with reality. But it is these people, not the architects of the wars but those who have been manipulated by them, who supply the manpower and generate popular acceptance of the wars.

I'm always quoting Obama's one-time foreign policy advisor, Zbigniew Brzezinski who famously said: "The war on terror is a mythical, historical narrative."

I second that. So if it's not about terrorism, what is it about? I have my theories, they are beyond the scope of this discussion, but what matters to me in this context is to show that the people I know who support these wars most (and whose children are most likely to join the military) are clearly racist against Arabs, in the sense that they reject Arab religion and culture, and sometimes practically recoil at the SIGHT of them, when they appear in public in the US.

Well thanks, I never knew that before today. I guess because the number of Japanese who were put in camps far exceeds the number of Germans or Italians, so the focus has been primarily on them (just as invalids who were executed in Germany receive far less attention than the Jews.) Also, only Italian non-US citizens, and very few German US citizens were put in camps, but meanwhile two thirds of the Japanese were US citizens.

Of course, I really don`t know but the law as it stands, gives a sense of misguided or misdirected entitlement. It is a lame excuse to behave badly. Sadly resulting in death.

OK, thanks Juni, I now have the Jim Marrs' book on hold at my library along with "Guns, Germs, and Steel." I can't promise to read either of them in full, but I will skim and see if I can get into them. I sort of "interview" books before committing to them.

Honestly, I find a lot of history writing very dull. I ADORE David McCullough and have read about 5 or 6 of his books, even the thousand-page tome on Truman, because I love his style so much.

McCullough's biography of John Adams seems to have spawned a whole new genre of biographies...but I haven't found any (yet) that are anywhere close to as good as McCullough's. I mean, McCullough could write about trash collection or any subject at all and I would be riveted. (By the way, I feel the same about William Langeweische, editor of Vanity Fair International and one-time columnist for the Atlantic Monthly. I am kind of in love with him. LOL)

Anywho...I love conspiracy theories but so few of the books I've looked at really seem credible. I KNOW that anyone who aspires to having a modicum of fluency about US politics ought to be conversant on the Trilateral Commission and freemasons. But I've honestly never come across a book on the Illuminati that wasn't cheap and poorly done.

So I HOPE Marrs' will be the first to impress me!

And Crossfire will be next week.
