Currently the sun is transiting conjunct Saturn so pardon me for feeling rather morose about some of the latest news:
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/nov/29/hundreds-involved-in-mass-brawl-at-berlin-refugee-shelter

Also just learned about some other troubles involving high rates of sexual assault:
http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/asylum-shelters-in-germany-struggle-with-refugee-violence-a-1056393.html

Nothing to discuss for now, just marvelling and mourning.

Why should you feel the need to "pardon" your feelings?
It is a disaster.
What is there to marvel??

Those links give a glimpse of the inevitable troubles that are just the beginning....

I am German and I am PRO refugees- but where will this all end? Do we really have millions of jobs & accomodations left for them?
Do we really need to make/create a limit? But wouldn't this be against the UN refugees convention? And we can't let them die....

I have no solutions but i am worried. And ths is just the beginning. The crisis in Afghanistan, Iran, Yemen and Pakistans get worse and worse- Millions of Nigerians would love to flee from Boko Haram, another millions Christians in Egypt fear death attacks and would love to flee, just to mention a few of potential refugees, in addition to the current 60 million refugees. The Syrian mass exodus is just a little part...
We really need to solve the reasons for the crisis.

As for the many rumours of rape incidents in Germany done by refugees: the rumours are beyond ridiculous- some even fear to get raped at every single street corner. I always tell them: don't worry, they take the pretty ones only.

LOL...

But honestly if there have been rapes within the refugee centers, I would be worried that the problem would continue outside of the refugee centers.

Of course there will be rapists, murders, etc among the refugees. They are People like you and me. Some are nice, some are not.

This is the latest news from Germany re the refugees crisis http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-35231046 It is HORRIBLE what happened and it increases the tension in Germany,.

Basically I NEVER heard of any German that we mustn’t help refugees- I only heard concerns about terrorists, clash of cultures, lack of money, rejection of any refugees from the Balkans & many parts of Africa since they are not considered as real refuges etc. but it’s like anyone I meet agrees in helping refugees and for this I am very proud of my countrymen. But incidents like this one doesn’t help to delete the fears and concern about the refugees crisis.

What chart would you use for Germany? The one when the federal republic has been created or when East Germany re-joined us?

Just got an email from Ceridwen about this...I was unaware, since I don't check the news as vigilantly as I should.

"Germany shocked by Cologne New Year gang assaults on women"

Sad to say I am not shocked I am shocked if Germany is shocked.

quote:
What is particularly disturbing is that the attacks appear to have been organised. Around 1,000 young men arrived in large groups, seemingly with the specific intention of carrying out attacks on women.

Police in Hamburg are now reporting similar incidents on New Year's Eve in the party area of St Pauli. One politician says this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I feel sick to my stomach...from the beginning my Bavarian friend has been trying to help while trying to keep her fears under control, that something like this was going to happen. She has moon conjunct Pluto in the 8th and could only sense the impending tragedies. But she could barely talk about it, everyone is so quick to label others "right-wing"...worries have not been tolerated and recognized as legitimate, but branded as something else (racism, hate, cruelty, etc.)

Oh I feel so bad for Germany.

I would use the chart for when East Germany re-joined.

Please don't quote, I will remove the part about my friend later. Not sure if she wants me mentioning those kinds of details about her.

Yes, this is a huge problem in Germany.
Everyone is afraid to speak since no one wants to be judged as some right-wing.

Some people who were afraid are, who did vote for "leave them in the camps in the middle eastern- we will help them there" are now like "ah, look what your new friends have done". disgusting!

We all knew that there will be issues and huge Problems- but this is no reason not to help anyone in desperate need.

I'll take a look at the Chart later.

We need to think who benefits from hatred and violence against the refugees, and fear, hatred and violence between the refugees and the welcoming Germany or other host countries. Who hates and is afraid of peace, harmony and intermingle between the two "sides". Who looses their purpose of existence, their means of recruitment, psychological, ideological and otherwise if such peace and integration happen. Who uses fear and planned sudden attacks as main weapon. Among others, you know who, those terrorist groups first and foremost.
This was a shocking, hideous concerted attack. It's very upsetting indeed

It is a huge risk to welcome refugees who are 18+ Stags into any country, priority should have been given to families with young children, widows with children, women and orphaned children. The other problem is lack of resources to counsel refugees into adopting the European country's language and the way of life.
It would have been far better to have avoided the crisis, Europe is paying the price for the sins of misguided policy makers in USA/UK and their supreme ally, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who think that Iran should be weakened, and thus kept quiet when Daesh took over large swathes of Iraq and Syria.
Huge mess, a desperate attempt by Dark Siders to re-ignite WW3 by fomenting tension between Iran and Sunnis, and simultaneously India-Pakistan.

The assaults initially were not highlighted by the police and were largely ignored by the German news media in the days afterward.

quote:
Henriette Reker, Cologne’s mayor, who was stabbed during a campaign event in October by a German man who opposed her welcoming attitude toward migrants, sought Tuesday to play down the links to refugees, after meeting with police, state and city officials.

“There are no indications that this involved people who have sought shelter in Cologne as refugees,” Ms. Reker said.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/06/world/europe/coordinated-attacks-on-women-in-cologne-were-unprecedented-germany-says.html?ref=world&_r=2

I don't get it!

To be inclusive of fundamentalist Muslims, must Germany become anti-feminist, denying crimes against women, denying that women can be trusted to identify their attackers?

Of course not....but I'm appalled at how this was handled, if the news story can be trusted. Well it continues:

quote:
Several hundred people gathered in front of Cologne’s cathedral late Tuesday to protest violence against women. Several groups promoting women’s rights have complained that the authorities have not taken allegations of sexual abuse of women in refugee shelters seriously enough.

Sheesh...

Sorry i diddn't get back to this thread earlier but i was terribly stressed.

the mood in Germany is really really horrible. I have never experienced that before!
It's like anyone can feel the tension and it's like everyone i ask is tired of the topic "refugees".

The attacks on New years Eve have been disgusting and inhuman. Germans are upset that people who enjoyed our hospitality and money are now turning against us. There are sooo many opinions and point of views- no newspaper -let out foreign newspapers- are able to reflect all arguments.
Some German have turned against refugees, some say "not all refugees are like that", some say that those offenders have not been real refugees.
some say that there must be a radical attitude against refugees, esp the criminal ones
some say that all those right wing groups were right
some say that discrimination will increase
etc.

And i know that many members of the German-Turkish and German-Arab and German-African community, esp the male ones, are really upset. They say that they will have to suffer from that crimes , others committ though. And they are tired to be judged as "disrespectful muslims". Many of them grew up in Germany, were even born here, and couldn't disagree more on the allegedly "middle eastern" attitude towards women. They say that German women are free persons and they don't want be put in the same position as those molestous criminals.

You see, it's very very VERY complicated these days in Germany
I knew that those things will happen- and i am pretty sure that we will face conditions like a little civil war in Germany this year.

I used the following birth time for Germany: 3 October 1990 at 0 am CET in berlin. But is this correct? Shouldn't we use noon or something else?

Whatever, transit neptune does inconjunct sun!
The challenge between illusion and spiritualism. Was it an illusion to let so many refugees move to Germany? Was it our spiritual duty to help those in need?

How do you like that? German's moon is exactly on my 18 Pisces moon (no wonder Germany is my favorite country ) with transiting Chiron conjunct it.

Do I think it was Germany's duty to help?

The way Germany is handling the situation seems to me like allowing patients with a highly contagious, possibly deadly disease into their hospital...and while the "doctors" know enough to take certain precautions, they are ignoring some aspects of the disease, and now other patients in the hospital are going to suffer for it.

If the premise was that Germany ought to just adopt everyone in the world who is suffering, or else Germany is evil...people would say, "That's ludicrous, of course Germany cannot handle such a burden."

But if the borders are wide open, and Germany is allowing people from all over to come in, indiscriminately, without an end in sight....that's essentially what they seem to be striving to do. Something that's ludicrous and impossible.

Maybe it's a leap of faith that will work out well enough, but for now, the situation looks very precarious and a little insane. I think it's being handled poorly, and people are scared, and the leadership is not listening to the people.

Isn't everyone on this planet...people? Moving in all directions since the species emerged?

Comparing refugees with sick contagious people is a little far fetched, dear Faith.

I am always surprised to hear the border/refugees speech from Americans considering that all Americans are migrants and refugees. And I won't mention they didn't come to an empty land, and what they did to the locals. For Native Americans, all the others who came there are refugees who stole their country, if we want to look at this way. But migration in all directions is a natural mechanism of our species, responsible for its success.

For example, I am part of a nation who pride themselves in being on their land, the same land since Stone Age, and everyone else coming here. Even so, part of my blood is refugee blood: Italian, Greek, Turkish, Mongol. Although my great great father was a count, the economical crisis in Italy forced them to migrate and they found refuge in Romania.

And if we look further, we are all "refugees" from Africa.

All economical powers in the world, including US and Germany made their fortune by conquering others, or taking from others at some point, and karma laws we are studying here say no power or riches belong to just one person or one people, there's always a time when you will have to share it, give it back, and you can't isolate yourself from the problems of the world and keep your structures indefinitely since you are part of the problem anyway (such as the US playing a big part in this refugee crisis), we are all part of this world and share everything, there's no protection from that. Now the only question is to do it wisely in an organized way, also respecting human rights and the local laws and peace. In this process, sacrifices will have to be made on all sides.

Personally, I actually reject the term "refugee", I think it's pejorative. Human migration is as old as Lucy. We are all "refugees". It's just people and I am happy to live in a world where free movement is available for almost everyone (almost, unfortunately there are still a few cases of closed country, I think just one, in fact, North Korea). We are living amazing times. To me, this means not just that any American can go and live in Singapore or Mexico or UK, but also that any Mexican can come and live in the US if they please, or any Syrian to Germany or US or Romania, if they respect local and international laws (which not all of them will, just like not all Germans or Americans or Romanians respect the law). It doesn't matter who these people are, their skin color or religion, it is normal to help others if they need help, no matter where they come from and to encourage a free world.

I don’t have much time since i am at work right now but here are some points i would like you to consider/discuss with me:

1. Merkel did not invite anyone. The “rumour” or “ misunderstanding” has been created by a little note of the foreign department that Syrian refugees will not be send back to the European country they first entered. This was meant to ease the tons of work the employees of that department faced. This gave a lot of hope for all the refugees who were stucked in Hungary, etc. They requested to be allowed to walk to Germany and Hungary and the other countries were relieved that they would leave their countries. That is the true story. I don’t get why everyone abroad thinks that the German government invited them. This is plain wrong, actually a lie.

2. The right of asylum is a human right

3. Germany (and other countries as well ) has signed the UN conventions for refugees

4. The borders were open before the migrant crisis. You know EU…. Many act as if the borders have been closed before. This is plain wrong and a lie.

5. If we close the borders, it would effect our strong economy drastically. Most companies make “orders when necessary”. This wouldn’t work when borders are closed. Also, see point 2 & 3

6. Germany is aging….

7. We can spend 450 billion to rescue the banks but a ninth shouldn’t be spent for HUMANS?! Are you kidding me?!

Yeah, all things considered, I could have used a better analogy, but I thought everyone knew me well enough to NOT assume the worst connotations there.

Fact is, as we've seen, many of the migrants come from war-torn areas and are still fighting in the camps. The aggression they bring with them is the "disease." Many have backwards ideas about women, another "symptom," and that's what led to the mass rapes.

By the way, to clarify, I had said:

quote:
The way Germany is handling the situation seems to me like allowing patients with a highly contagious, possibly deadly disease into their hospital...and while the "doctors" know enough to take certain precautions, they are ignoring some aspects of the disease, and now other patients in the hospital are going to suffer for it.

It was a criticism of the way the German government, and also the press, has been handling it. That includes blindness to the problems and failure to fix the problems they refused to see.

And I only said that because Enneline asked a question: "Was it our spiritual duty to help those in need?"

I didn't know there was a scripted "right answer" I had to give, or else get blasted.

And what else can be said? There is TROUBLE there.

Probably not as shocked as I am to hear you speaking to me so condescendingly, lumping me in with everyone else.

It's as if you are saying I have no right to an opinion. One of my best friends is German and terrified of the situation. So it matters to me, personally.

Well sorry for ever noticing any problems, Lee! My bad.

It's wonderland in Germany now, I forgot.

Thanks for the speech.

Like I said, you win, and don't complain about anything in Germany from now on, or I'll send this speech back to you.

Btw, the economical situation is more complex in a socialist country, where you have to stretch the taxes made by workers to pay for accommodations for the huge influx of non-workers, over the span of time until they become assimilated, assuming they can be assimilated.

In America, much of the land was free with the Homestead Act, but you had to grow your own food, fight the Natives, risk dying and take all the responsibility on yourself. Or you were living in the cities, often in squalor, often starving to death. You didn't have anyone taking care of you, the way Germany takes care of people. All I'm saying is, there is a limit to what is economically feasible, when you combine socialism and migration.

I don't understand why you say I "did something to you" and that I betrayed our friendship.
We can be friends and "kill each other" in a political debate, and still be friends.

It's true that I found your opinion very discriminating and this is always triggering a strong response in me. As I said, we have all been refugees in the past and we can all be in the future. A natural catastrophe, a war, a disease can happen anywhere and push us all to migrate some place else, the fact that we're sitting comfortably on our peaceful sofa right now means nothing, historically speaking.

And even if some of us will live peacefully ever after, I do not understand how can we not all open our doors to people in need when they need it and who and why wants to promote this idea? Why falling in the trap of policy who teaches you to fear certain people? That policy is made to use you, steal from you, put you in danger; it doesn't protect you. I don't mean you, I mean everyone believing this.

Is this a free world or not? Is a free world with no discrimination we want or not? if so, what does a free world mean?

I don't see how expressing these opinions doesn't make me your friend anymore, it's just a different way of looking at things. And this is how I am.
