Since "moe-anthropomorphism" (giving cutesy vibe to in-animate or totally weird objects and personalities) has become a thing in Japanese Anime these days (with shows like Upotte and Kantai Collection,) I give you, Dictators of the World... Moe-ified.

http://imgur.com/a/2i3rH

Why? Because its Japan baby! Lol!

Seriously, I am so confused right now... I am looking at Saddam and thinking "No! Nononono! He/She was an ******* ! A murderous, tyranical, sadistic, ******* ! And... God damn it! Why does she has to be so hot?!"

Effective Japan. Very effective. No wonder you managed to popularize Kantai Collection (a game consisting mostly of Imperial Japanese Warships) in North America of all places.

Been a while since I contributed to this thread. Hope I am not breaking any necro-posting rules .

Anyway, I wanted to drop something in for all us anime and/or Ballroom Dancing fans out there . This year, Toronto is going to be having a Toronto Argentine Tango Festival in June:

http://www.torontotangofestival.com/

And yours truly and my better half will be participating in it . As representatives of Anime fandom, we will be changing up routine from the usual traditional style to a more... Modern rendition (to the dismay of a lot of purists among the group .)

One of the songs we will be dancing to is the new release by the Japanese Band Zwei entitled "Last Game." Its the ending song for the anime Stiens Gate: Zero that is currently airing:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQBHr1kGmT0

Beautiful song ain't it?

We have a few months of practice ahead of us before the Festival starts. Wish us luck . I will see if I can post pictures and videos from the Festival once it happens.

i don't like anime generally, but i'll give anything a chance and there's a handful of decent ones

berserk, akira, cowboy bebop, the 2nd vampire hunter d movie, and perfect blue as far as better known ones go

i like animated shorts and silent stuff too (the sandman is a good silent claymation short... cicada princes is another good claymation short, it isnt silent but also good as far especially artwise because steve ferrera has a good style) so i also enjoyed cat soup and kakurenbo

my older brother was really into anime so i grew up with plenty of it

i'm not into disney at all

i prefer things like fantastic planet, rocko's modern life, bojack horseman, aqua teen hunger force etc as far as cartoons go

i dont care for all the music in disney cartoons or how badly they twist the source material

Disney, of course. I grew up with it, but I still watch old Disney favorites. I also enjoy watching Pixar films, and Pixar is owned by Disney.

Disney. I'm listening to this right now, because it's a Summer song.

Although I grew up with The Fox and the Hound (my favourite).

Just so you know, I've become a HUGE fan of High School of the Dead (but not the "season 2 episode" that came out and if that was what s2 was going to be liked then I'm glad they ended it after the first season).

It's been awhile since I've rewatched it so it's hard for me to explain why, but I can say I really got to care for the characters. It's true that the fan service got ridiculous at times, though I think it's overhyped by haters in the middle (where they're momentarily safe) since it's actually a small part and if they can't break the tension like that then the viewer will almost certainly get "horror fatigue" so that it's not effective anymore. Where I got mad was like when one fought zombies half naked when she very well knew how to use armor (given her training) and was clever enough to create some (even if only from cardboard, and even cloth could provide a little protection). Basically, when it interfered with the story rather than sprinkled into it then it annoyed me, because I cared about the characters (and if someone in real life did that I'd be super mad at them, not for being half naked but for being so inexcusably stupid).

But I still shrugged most of it off with humor just as I did of the crazy trick shooting, driving an ATV sideways, etc. It's just good fun and I sort of see it as "how the characters remember it 20 years later" or how "the movie based on a true story of the zombiepocalypse was made" than what really happened. And what I liked best is the point that surviving a zombie apocalypse isn't worth it if you just become another monster (favorite line as they exposed themselves to zombies to save a little girl, "Something wonderful just happened, we realized we're still human").

I definitely want to see Akame ga Kill, though I've already been warned about it.

Sword Art Online interests me as well, but is much lower on my list of anime to watch.

I'd like to know how Disney could get Kim Possible so wrong as a live action movie? They made the cartoon!

The cartoon was ironically more mature, funny and fun, well thought out, and most ironically, "woke" than the movie trying to be woke (and failing badly), though when I say they're trying to be woke it's as a cynical corporate trend, not any actual ideal. The only thing the live action movie did right was the villains, but even then they still belonged in a cartoon.

Hello my fellow Lindalandians! Just dropping in to see how everyone is doing . Much thanks to you Randall for keeping the thread alive .

There have been a lot going on in the Anime World but none of them were as impactful and tragic as the attack on Kyoai Anime studios.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-49027178

For those who aren't Anime fans and haven't heard of Kyo Ani studio, its probably one of the best Anime studios in the world with an Art Style, Quality and content that is in a category in itself.

To Appreciate just how good these guys are, have a look at this clip from one of their recent hit anime series; Violet Evergarden:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_PTlM5quRc

Nuff said.

Furthermore, this studio has one of the best HR track records when it comes to the treatment of their employees. Their animators are one of the highest paid ones in the Industry and are personally taught by the animation studio.

To summarize the reason why the attack was carried out, the suspect in question accused the studio of Plagiarism which is completely absurd. Kyoani to this day has always given full credit to the Authors of Light Novels and Mangas that they have made Animes on. Furthermore, Violet Evergarden was an anime made on a Light Novel series done by an Author that was personally groomed and supported by Kyoani.

The Suspect also had a criminal history.

This particular tragedy was especially heartfelt within the anime community given how emotionally wonderful most of Kyoani works have been.
