To answer the original question of this thread: Why not? If she is an interesting and intelligent person that can offer me a different prespective on things and is a joy to have a conversation with and to be around, then sure. I'll be friends with her. It sure as hell won't be good for my career advacement opportunities , but meh! Also, I am not sure if we are entirely clear on how we are defining the term "prostitution." Now with prostitution, are you defining the term as an action that trades sex for cash? Or does this term also encompasses the idea of Hosts and Hostesses? (i.e. paying a person to keep you company for a given duration of time; Sex doesn't necessarily has to be involved.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Host_and_hostess_clubs#Hostess_clubs With Hosts and Hostesses, things are a bit different. You pay for the company of the person (usually involving a Dinner Date or a Party) but in MOST cases, sex is off limits. Most Hosts and Hostesses work for Clubs and are independent proprietors. Most people however consider that prostitution as well. IP: Logged |

I think essentially it is exactly that... You cannot have unconditional love and to judge at the same time. IP: Logged |

Wouldn't that make the core teachings of most religions quite contradictory ? IP: Logged |

Sibyl - how many people do you recall actually telling you the amount of sexual partners they had? Please give me an approximate number of people. Because you seem to be as deceived by appearances as AG is. IP: Logged |

Here we go... more accurate stats than my previous ramblings: quote: Median number of female sexual partners in lifetime, for men 25-44 years of age, 2006-20081: 6.1Percent of men 15-44 years of age who have had 15 or more female sexual partners, 2006-20102: 21.6% Median number of male sexual partners in lifetime, for women 25-44 years of age, 2006-20081: 3.6
Percent of women 15-44 years of age who have had 15 or more male sexual partners, 2006-20102: 9.0%
From - http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nsfg/key_statistics/n.htm You can look up several studies... but the results are in the same ballpark. Since a majority of posters on LL are young women (teens - 30s) - I chose 3 as a potential number of sexual partners... but as I said 3 is stretching it, because for many girls in their 20s the number would be 2 or 1. And no, it's clearly not just religious people. Go ahead and research the matter and find further stats. They won't tell you a much different story. IP: Logged |

Thanks for the song. It's time for me to answer the question (I know you couldn't wait). I think I'd be open to being friends with a prosititute if we clicked, unless she's was too much of a mess. But I admit I'd at least feel tempted to persuade her to look for another job. ------------------ I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy.

It was the main chorus I was going for, not the rest of it (just to clarify that). IP: Logged |

Honestly,What's a difference between that and... (a) a dentist who says you have five cavities when you have one. (b) an auto mechanic who says that you need a new transmisison when you just need more transmission fluid. (c) a scummy stockbroker who tries to sell you another piece of garbage with fleas just to make more commissions. (d) a traffic cop who says you exceeded the speed limit by 10 mph just to make his monthly ticket quota? (e) the school teacher who wouldn't teach the kid but focuses on giving the kid a C to maintain minimum statistics. (f) the chef who willingly uses last month's frozen seafood at a restauarant that touts fresh food. (g) the corrupt dirtbag politician. (h) the banker or auto executive who takes the huge government bailout and then pays himself a huge cash bonus and declares large stock option awards. At least the lady in "the profession" supposedly leaves her clientele satiated. That's far more tnan I can say about most employees in most professions, and most legitimate businesses. Now if only these ladies would manage the airlines... IP: Logged |

he encouraged her to go to school and move in with him. Of course when their relationship got serious he told her to give up prostitution and she wouldnt. So he dumped her and kicked her out. She is still a prostitute to this day.[/B][/QUOTE] This is why I said I dont trust prostitutes. But thinking about it now I kinda agree with AG that it really depends on the person you're friends with. IP: Logged |
