So interesting! So if you don't date anyone and get to know them, how do you decide to live with, marry or have children with them?

Maybe. I was just looking for information on a .gov site, to make that clear.

News stories that insist there are new mandates or laws on the basis of letters intercepted between the DOJ and some college administrators just confuse me.

There ought to be more of a "paper trail" in those articles, linking to .gov websites.

Just saw this thread got locked: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum27/HTML/001802.html

I don't get it, why didn't Ami close this thread, too?

And the Dating Online thread?

And basically all the threads where AG's ideas are challenged....why don't they all get locked?

You are being so arbitrary, Ami.

Randalls rule of thumb is when a thread has veered from it's origin topic to name calling, it should be closed. Each Mod has to determine when that line is crossed. Take care

Its not because of the fact that you or anyone else challenges my opinion. Its the fact that "You" are incapable of having a reasonable and logical debate/discussion. You are quiet possibly the most underhanded, manipulative, and pathetic person I have ever encountered on the internet. You constantly misinterpret my posts or put words in my mouth to put me on the defensive and when I go back to correct you you accuse me of not sticking to the point or lying,or changing my story. You constantly use personal attacks in arguments. And in the last thread you started bringing up a discussion that wasnt even relevant to the discussion we were having in that moment and of course you cherry picked quotes in an attempt to discredit me and make me look bad.. The sad thing is you are a middle aged woman and resorting to this petty BS ... Do us all a favor and grow up

Is this crossing the line with name calling?

Ok, you can close the thread now Ami.
If my eyes serve me correctly, there's some serious name calling in the quote above...

Or is AG excluded from this "rule of thumb"?

Maybe so... But after putting up with so much underhanded nonsense from her for so long the truth needed to be said. In all honesty It is a blessing that Ami Ann closed the thread when she did because I was in the process of writing out a much meaner post.

So anyway...

If people don't date in other countries, how do they end up ever getting married? It was an honest question. I haven't travelled all that much. I have had men from other countries interested in me and they asked to take me out so... I'm wondering what is so different.

Because if you are 'hanging out' with someone you are interested in to get to know them with the potential of getting serious then you are dating them. Or if you are friends with someone and you go out for lunches and then intimacy comes into it - you are dating. It's just a different word for the same thing.

Unless you are talking about arranged marriages which doesn't require courting anyone before hand

I don't know, I've heard some people say that they prefer the term "courting" over "dating" but it's all the same to me and has the same end goal in mind. Maybe that's what that person meant?

Or did they just mean no romantic relations at all?

But what about the people who have been in rougher shoes and yet still remain kind and pleasant to other people? This isn't a "my life is more miserable/I've been through more in life" contest.

You, as an individual are in charge of your own happiness and how you chose to let things affect you and affect the way that you treat other people.

So no, I'm not buying this "woe is me" act.

Anyways, this thread should just be closed (actually should've been ages ago) and I honestly don't see the reason for it being open anymore.
