Personally, I think that clip was really asinine. Honestly, I couldn't watch the entire thing, my apologies.

Yep, many of my favorite musicians and artists have long hair, and I ask my husband to grow his out at least a bit, rather than have it short. Although short hair looks good on some guys as well.

Whatever...to each their own.

My ex was an Iggy Pop look-alike (in Iggy's better days), and his hair was shaggy and sort of long.

The previous ex looked an awful lot like Kurt Cobain, with long-ish hair (although that was in the '90s, granted). It looked good on him.

I don't care, as long as it's flattering to the facial structure or the personality.

Short hair isn't flattering on everyone, nor is long hair. I had my hair short for a very long time, and am only now growing it out. I've occasionally contemplated the same thing, honestly. Why long hair is so coveted by some guys (but certainly not all).

*shrug*

Yea same here, hence my "ROFL"!

But there was one or two points she brought up that I never really thought about before.

Almost Cut My Hair

Really, you shouldn't do such things to a girl at an hour so late...

I hate it if a guy has nicer hair than me (long). Seriously, don't try to compete. I think it should remain a feminine thing.

It's like the people that say a woman after the age of 40 shouldn't have long hair. Seriously, people think that. It's ridiculous.

Who cares how people think you should wear your hair. It's YOUR hair!

Guys should grow their hair out then harvest it for wigs.

This is one of the things that she brought up that Ive never experienced, but have wondered about

But I figure its a view probably more common among younger women hrrmm....

Also the vanity aspect, my hair is about 2ft in length and it does take a considerable amount of maintenance, so its a similar quandary to her first point as in do women think "Wow, that guy must spend hours in front of a mirror"

Sure, its probably a natural assumption. But again Ive almost never had women speak ill of my long hair, yet perhaps secretly they do feel a certain amount resentment/jealousy towards me, ofc having a slender physique and effeminate face is probably only adding fuel to that fire hue hue...

I Love Long Hair.

It Certainly Does take a bit of Maintenance.

My WildWind Mane, anyway.

My Daughters and I often commiserate on the sad, sad state of affairs in which Men deal harshly with their Lovely Leonine Locks.

Don't they Know?

You just do you!

I will admit I am jealous of men with long hair at times because most of them have absolutely gorgeous hair. I have crappy hair (always have), so if anything I admire it.

At the end of the day if someone doesn't like you because of your haircut, style, clothes, etc., they aren't worth your time.

The guy I'm dating currently is growing out his hair. It's past his shoulders. It's marvelous :3.

My ex had long hair too.

I used to not be into guys with long hair, but how can I resist?

Nice stuff .

Most women are not into men with long hair...until they are.

Many women are choosing short hair styles for themselves now.

I had this idea that men with log hair did not mean business. Which is weird because in my culture, men with long hair is common.

My child's father started with short hair then during the 5-6th year, he grew his hair out and it was really nice.

I never saw it as that feminine, I guess because of my male cousin wearing his hair long when he was a teen (longer than me) as he admired both long haired country AND metal musicians at the time. Ironically, he wore it longer than me (and no one questioned his masculinity) whereas I found keeping my hair short did help me take care of it better (because I cared about my hair more than my cousin did, though I hated tangles caused by wind when riding, too). Granny didn't mind my cousin wearing his hair long and would also say that Jesus wore his hair long (one reason he stayed with her as his parents gave him crap for it) but she was always trying to get me to grow mine out, too, along with wearing dresses and the like. I guess I got the message "guys can wear their hair any length while girls should wear it long" which is about the opposite of mainstream society.

Learning about ancient cultures, from the Celts to the samurai, also sealed the image of long hair as masculine. When I was with a masculine lesbian the "only thing that might be feminine" in her appearance was her long hair and yet I always thought of male samurai ('course her mastering 3 martial arts and having won tournaments and being blasian might've helped me see it that way ).

I did know one guy who spent hours on his long hair with more hair products than me (at the time my hair was very short, I was even called a "boi" by some), but you could tell the difference between that and those guys who took care of their hair without going to so much trouble.

What always got me was that I hear the 80s metal culture was even more homophobic than mainstream society but the guys had all that hair and makeup! More than many of the hard rocking women. (Not to confuse gender with orientation, the point was that those guys with their long hair and makeup so themselves as completely masculine as did many of their fans who looked up to them.)

Steve Hughes, an Australian comedian, talks about that in one of his routines and "turning the tables" so to speak.
