Hmmm... That's still very general AG.

I am entirely disinterested in what you believe feminism has to say re: women in history, or your comebacks to what you believe feminism is saying, or the comebacks 'mgtow' has to offer.

What I want to know is what YOU personally have to say re: women in history.

I literally want to know.. If you pick up a history book and you read historical facts (not the feminist perception of historical facts, JUST the facts on their own) - What is your personal take on certain things that have happened?
Forget feminism!

But ok... leave the topic of 'womens' issues' aside for a second...

I have another question -

Can you tell me a couple of things that have happened either at present/recently (or historically) towards gay people - that enrage you? Things that you believe should have never happened towards homosexual people?

You told me you get fired up about gay-discrimination. So I'm just wondering if you can give me some examples of things - you believe are disgusting *instances* of discrimination.

Actually...
I'll just copy/paste some examples...

So here is the first one:

At English Common Law:

quote:
Husband and wife were one person as far as the law was concerned, and that person was the husband. A married woman could not own property, sign legal documents or enter into a contract, obtain an education against her husband's wishes, or keep a salary for herself. If a wife was permitted to work, under the laws of coverture, she was required to relinquish her wages to her husband.

^ Straight from wiki - Not a feminist perspective on things.

This is just historical fact.

How do you personally feel about this historical fact?
On a scale of 1 to 10... where 1 is "morally sound law" and 10 is "completely f*cked up law" - Where would you class this?

Second example..

Regarding Marital Rape:

quote:
The 17th-century English jurist, Sir Matthew Hale, stated the position of the common law in The History of the Pleas of the Crown (1736) that a husband cannot be guilty of the rape of his wife because the wife "hath given up herself in this kind to her husband, which she cannot retract". The principle, no record of which is found earlier than Hale's view, would continue to be accepted as a statement of the law in England and Wales until it was overturned by the House of Lords in the case of R. v. R in 1991

And...

quote:
In the United States, prior to the mid-1970s marital rape was exempted from ordinary rape laws. The exemption is also found in the 1962 Model Penal Code, which stated that "A male who has sexual intercourse with a female, not his wife, is guilty of rape if [...]"

Again please tell me your thoughts on these particular historical facts ^... and give these laws - a mark from 1 to 10!

Odette,
You just posted information that lines up with what I just said. I said women in the past didn't really have any power or the ability to make decisions. I think what you posted above falls under that.
How messed up do I think that is? It's messed up to be sure but you have to remember that those were different times. And as I said men had tons of burdens that they were carrying and the average man did not have much power either but nobody wants to talk about that.

You have joined a men's group that shares the same view point, thus perpetuating said view point. You're no exception, time makes no difference.

We are all guilty of it at some point. Just some more than others.

Not exactly... 2010 was the year I really started questioning things and thinking that there was something wrong with society. I didn't officially learn about mgtow until 2012.

We could go round in circles and I have no desire to change your mind.

I can't help but think that your views/MGTOW is all spawned from irrational assumptions as a result of some complex developed from bad experiences with women. I hope that's not the case; the whole thing sounds unhealthy.

No, M

There are certain topics that are USED to distract sheeple from REAL things that are going on like the true and very real loss of our freedoms.

Sheeple get all up in arms about these topics because sheeple cannot think for themselves.

i was assaulted and beat up pretty badly in an attempted rape some years ago, by someone who lived near me who i did NOT know. when the police came and responded to my call they were acting like i brought it on myself. "do you know him?" , "did you two date?" ,etc was the line of questioning i received along with their disbelieving and dismissive glances. - so yeah we do live in a somewhat rape friendly culture.
and just because it's more serious for example in the middle east, it does not diminish the seriousness of it here!!

(also i was told that they couldn't prosecute him on these charges because "it was my word against his" and "there were no other witnesses" ) -- how's that for some bulls*#*t!

Marginalizing the experiences of those in the US is unnecessary and an insult to anyone who has ever been sexually assaulted or raped, The US is a rape-friendly culture by the way victims are shamed and treated in the US and the way the media portrays it. Again, pain has no "threshold" and all pain should be honored. You might as well have thrown in the "mutilated genitals" ignorant comment I keep hearing.

Mercuranian, sorry to hear about your experiences, no one can devalue or marginalize what happened to you.

Mercuranian - reminds me of a post I saw on tumblr that mocked how rape victims are questioned (in support of how they SHOULD be treated), and whaddya know I found the link... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/20/caitlin-kelly-if-rape-were-a-wallet_n_6191588.html

Also as far as Taylor Swift being a feminist... meh. I don't buy it. She may have good intentions but I feel she is only declaring herself as such because she hangs out with Lena Dunham now. When you listen to her talk about it there's no passion behind what she's saying. For her I do believe it's more about her image and staying current.

If you want to talk about a disaster look up the article where Kaylee Cuoco was interviewed after she got married. Basically she said she's not a feminist because she likes to cook for her husband. (*shoulder slump, face palm*)

You were badly beaten... and they didn't take you

to the hospital?

Ambulance?

Rape kit?

You didn't include this part, last night.

That's astounding, considering the shape you were in,

and lawsuit worthy, to boot.

Nonsense.

No one has been marginalized, here.

And I'm not sure what you mean by 'how the media portrays it.'

Such a gross generalization...

Women in the US have recourse unavailable to those in many

of these middle-eastern countries.

We are not bound by a culture that believes a woman who

has been raped is a curse on the family, and needs to be

obliterated-- in the most literal sense.

Attackers are not given the option to marry their victims

in order to 'make it right,' in a court of law.

Victims are recognized for what they are: victims.

The fact that some in authority are insensitive (terribly so)

does not make our culture, as a whole, rape-friendly.

It is not.

E, these people are an example of why our current society is hopeless to ever get better.

They can't think in an independent fashion. They repeat what they are fed like lemmings lol
