I want to see pot legalized too because I think punishing drug users is stupid. However, I don't agree with the people that say pot is completely harmless and healthy. I know this because I have smoked pot on multiple occasions. I was already a heavy cigarette smoker when I first tried pot and it made me cough my lungs out for over an hour. And it had the same effect on me every time I smoked it after that. As far as I can tell pot is alot harder on your lungs than cigarettes and research backs that up. It also makes your mouth really dry and you get really thirsty and want to drink alot of fluids. And smoking pot on a regular basis has negative effects on your mind, it makes you stupid. My buddy smokes weed every day and you can already tell that it is really affecting his memory. It's frustrating to talk to him because he has such a bad memory and will often ask the same question multiple times in a conversation. And it's like he can't grasp concepts like he used to. He used to be somewhat intelligent but now he is the stereotypical pot head idiot. I don't like the extreme arguments for or against pot. Those that are against pot want to say it's the devil and those for it say it's God's medicine. Let's just be realistic and see pot for what it is..... Given the history of the sites you link to I'm not going there. NAMBLA has been promoting acceptance for themselves for a long time, something most gay people won't have anything to do with for the same reason straight people won't. In any case the big difference is that children can't legally consent, and therefore any sort of "equality" is pointless. In fact, the way around it is not to gain "equality" for themselves but for children by getting them classed as adults so that they can legally consent (and vote, drive, sign contracts, buy guns like anyone else, etc). That said I've noticed many don't believe they can make adult decisions (which probably has a lot to do with why they desire them due to the power dynamics in addition how easy it usually is to manipulate and confuse children) so the alternative is to lower the age of consent by a drastic degree...and the more moral, wholesome days when a man in his 20s could marry his 13-year-old cousin (as happened to Eliza Poe) are pretty much gone forever, unless we backslide back to those days of Christian morality above all (perhaps a slippery slope back to the inquisition and burning people at the stake?). Another alternate that some would-be legalizers of pedophilia have pursued is wanting to give parents the right to consent to such on behalf of their children which could be called a type of "parental right," but I don't see most supporting that anymore than supporting the right to send children to work in sweatshops or signing kids over the to military. Indeed, where is it legal to marry a prepubescent girl? The only countries I can think of also hold the death penalty for being gay and are very religious. In contrast other nations have legalized gay marriage and granted gays full equality under law. How many of them do the same for pedophiles? None that I'm aware of, and they also seem harsher on clergymen and others who abuse than the more "moral" nations that are more concerned with protecting their bigotry than actually protecting kids (save when it's convenient to say "think of the children"). And thus this thread isn't about a slippery slope but rather a slippery slope fallacy. Besides, you already said God would remove his hand of protection if Obama won a second term (though we still haven't all died of ebola like you thought we would) so why even try unless even you don't believe yourself? Yes AGI have noticed that dimming of intellectual sharpness in people who smoke a lot of pot. I can tell by just talking to them, so that would be one reason I would not want to smoke it. I could addicted really easily because I am super high strung ------------------

Now to address the topic of this thread. I do think society needs to change how it deals with pedophiles. By that I mean they need to be seen for what they are,mentally sick. Pedophiles should feel safe to come out and say they are struggling with this illness so they can get the proper help and support they need so they aren't as much of a threat to children. I say this because its obvious that people are doing more harm than good when it comes to how they deal with the issue. People think they are doing the right thing when they openly talk about how they want to murder pedophiles, castrate them etc. But they are just forcing them further underground and putting children at more risk than they would be if pedophiles could be open about their sickness and get help. It just amazes me how badly society handles some things. You have to deal with sh*t in a mature and rational manner or there won't be any positive changes. IP: Logged |

It is a CRIME that pot is not used for medical reasons. They give people vile, destructive and deadly pharma because of the money involved, whereas as pot could solve so many of the cases with true help for people. It is disgraceful!!------------------
