This conversation is pointless. It's always pointless. We shouldn't talk.

This is what I said myself, but then didn't post. I've seen it over and over on other boards, English, American, and Canadian women, versus the rest of the world (in some men's eyes). I refuse to defend myself anymore, or insult foreign women.

There are also women who just want to come to America, so they can be just like us. I'm not saying they don't like you AG - but not all will have good intentions.

I don't care.

This convo relates to a book I just read. I think women in this culture have lost some of their soul. I think men have lost other things i.e their macho sense.

Here's a puzzle for you, Ami Anne. I should have put this in my "advice, anyone?" thread, but you're here now, so:

I spent a good hour jotting down a short story that occurred to me in the shower two nights ago, which I shared in another thread. Replies so far: 0.

It took me two days (10-12 hours of actual work time) to draw my last portrait, which I also shared in another thread. Replies so far: 3.

I spent 11 days (most of my waking hours for those days) creating my first video, which I also shared in another thread. Replies so far: 6.

It took maybe 15 minutes to simultaneously think up/type out the original post of this thread. Replies so far: 47.

'Splain that.

This post contains comments that might provoke people. It was also in one of the more frequented forums, and has been moved to another high traffic forum. I haven't seen your other posts, and have my own things to deal with offline.

Well that can be true of anyone, regardless of where they are from, can't it? But by and large I think all the crap about gold digging foreign women is a myth perpetuated by jealous western women. Would you believe it if I told you that most of the women I'm talking to are:college educated, have jobs, and have little or no interest in coming to America? Because it's true! If I want to be with some of the women I'm talking to i'd have to go be with them. And I might just do it if things get serious and I fall in love.I will know more after I go see them next summer.

I'm going to ignore the potential dig there, and point out that they might change after marriage. What are their reasons for still being single themselves?

Teasel,
The simplest answer to your question is things are different in other countries. I will give you a specific example. One woman I'm talking to is an English teacher in her country. And she makes enough to have her own place, a car, and extra money to live comfortably. She is attractive, intelligent, and has a great personality. However, she says men in her country resent her because she makes more money than the average man and has a car when most people use public transport to get around. So that's why she is looking online. I explained to her that she could come to the U.S and wouldn't have a problem finding men because men don't frown upon women having jobs or cars. She told me that she has no interest in coming to the U.S. She says her goal is to find a man that can come to her and make enough to provide for a family so she does not have to work and can focus on being a wife and mother. So here you have a woman that doesn't need a man but still wants to be married and have kids. She has a good job but wants to give it up to be a wife and mother. But that's hard to find in her country because men have no incentive to marry there when wages are low and they can easily get casual sex and have female company without commitment. It's the exact opposite here in the U.S... Women often make as much or more than men and have no problem getting men so they have no incentive to get with decent provider types and usually choose the hot bad boy types. So here in the U.S alot of the decent men that would make good providers and husbands get passed over by the women because we simply aren't needed. So it only makes sense that we go where we are desired by women and have a more level playing field.

I must live on the planet where most men put the seat back down too. This has never once been an issue in my life or relationships.

Sure, I've encountered toilets with the seat left up before, but I thought nothing of it and put it back down before I used it. I didnt take an upright positioned toilet seat as a 'middle finger' to me and flip out on a guy for it. They probably forgot. I guess because in my life it's been rare.....most of the men I've lived with mustve been in the habit of putting it down or thoughtful enough to do so, it's not something I've thought a lot about.

This has got me thinking back now to boyfriends i've lived with, male roommates, brother, father and I'm either lucky, or this really is not a huge issue for most. Because I've never heard girlfriends complain about it either. It's like the whole squeezing the toothpaste the wrong way, or not putting the cap back on (whatever it is) thing. I think other issues are going on if either the man continues to relentlessly or thoughtlessly leave the seat up constantly or the women over-reacts about it on the rare occasion it does happen.

I don't think women insist on it being a certain way, most are probably just used to it being down. I know I am. It looks neater when the seat and/or lid is put down and less like a bachelor pad. Because most men are courteous enough to do so, I think on the rare occasion they forget and you sit on the bowl without a seat and fall ass-in to a pool of water, yes, that is annoying.

I agree with Vajra's point about the art of relationship and there needing to be compromise and it's an issue that should easily be talked through and resolved. Especially if two people care about each other - they work together to live harmoniously and do what they can to make the others life more comfortable.

The usual assumptions, stating that all women over here do this and that. I'm tired.

I don't think it's a uniquely Virgo-type thing.

From puberty the vast majority of men have an almost uncontrollable urge to have sex. And if we don't get sex we have issues. Quite simply, the average man needs sex to live a normal and happy life. Ever seen a man that is a virgin well into his 20s,30s, or beyond? They are so freaking stunted it isn't even funny....Just look at gay men. They are very sexually promiscuous and most of them seem very happy and carefree. This is because getting their sexual needs met simply isn't an issue. A gay guy can easily get sex anytime he is in the mood. Most straight guys don't have that luxury.

I disagree with the idea that sex is a stronger need for men vs women. Or that sex is a basic need altogether; the physical part regularizes during sleep time for both genders. You can live a perfectly healthy life without ever having sex. The emotional/psychological part is more important, Eros is a powerful force, so is touching and human interaction, rather than the physical release itself, which, as I said, happens naturally. Believing that men (or women) go bonkers without sex is a silly old concept part of yuck patriarchal views. Both patriarchal and matriarchal views (one gender supremacy) are yuck and sexist. This idea, that sex is compulsory to stay healthy enables sexual objectification, one of the most hideous thingies that has been happening on this planet.

I agree with you, but I would also add that we are individuals with unique astrological signatures and that will inform our opinions of things, too. My boyfriend shares the same moon sign as the mouthy misogynist and I asked him this question, if he thought men need sex, and he said, "I think maybe they do. Like, it phuccs with your head if you don't get it." And I think since the moon sign is how we nourish ourselves, that maybe Scorpio and Taurus moon people (of both genders) DO need sex in order to feel emotionally nourished and fulfilled, whereas someone with an air moon likely would not. But that doesn't change the fact that you don't actually need it to survive. So you have to put it into context, who's being asked and why they might answer why they have.

I see what you mean, the feeling of needing it can be different, however nothing would happen to him if he doesn't have sex anymore.

But it is true that for instance Scorpio Moons, men and women, feel this intensely, they describe they feel emotionally stuck or "dead" without this interaction (although, after some time, you adapt yourself). Most likely because, as you pointed out, the Moon is responsible for needs.
