Mutual respect is the only way to find a satisfying communication basis, even if there are disagreements at the core. Equal treatment of all is another important ingredient. I hope it can be accomplished. Having said that, Faith,
I am one of those who once left and came back again. I came back after having made some decisions concerning my posting behaviour. One of those decisions included or led me to stay out of certain parts of the forum, and focus on other parts, that feel more satisfying and worthwhile to be in for me. Some people may not understand that or even think of that as ignorance or cowardice, but it was the only way for me to come back here, without getting lost in a fight against windmills. I figured it would be more valuable to me (and hopefully me offering something of value as well) to spend my time with people and aspects of astrology that I deeply care about. That does not mean I agree with some behaviour or opinions or way of expression I see but do not comment on. I just figure the results will not be worth the effort. ---------------------------------------
Little bit of a rant ahead: Personally - and I am NOT directing that at a specific person now- I am SO tired and fed off with people who pretend to have a privilege to access the "ultimate truth" (no matter if personally delivered by God, Jesus, the angels, Mohammed, Buddha, the Superself, aliens, or any kind of political group etc.) and state their opinions as facts. If I ever did that or do that, I apologize for that.

She's gone? She has a bad mouth sometimes, she said it herself but maybe in the heat of the moment, it can be forgiven? She has a good heart and mind, and it would be a bad omen for what happened here if she feels she took all the heat on her shoulders IP: Logged |

Faith, Yes, I know you did not mean it as judgment towards me. I am (re)evaluating those decisions myself. Sometimes I feel I should be more outspoken like you and Leeloo have been. But on the other hand that is so timeconsuming and I am stingy with my time. That`s why i tend to focus on the positive sides here. Pure selfishiness on my part. And possibly some form of resignation. But LL has a lot to offer, and I am grateful for that.

Everything you say is cool. I don't think you are selfish. This all happened quite naturally, just people coming together... IP: Logged |

Thank you, Randall. I´ve definitely made certain errors in judging the situation back then, though some things I still see in the same light. But you know, I wouldn´t have come back here, if I did not think LL was worth it. That and my first contact chart with LL is made so that I will never be able to leave. IP: Logged |

I just want to say to anyone who might feel weird about posting here after this--DON"T. We are a family. We can disagree but still love and respect each other as PEOPLE. Well I still send my love and blessings out to everyone, but truth be told, I do feel weird posting here after this. There is still something upsetting, despite Randall's HUGELY respectable change of mind. It's just the contrast between the openness being strived for, and the harsh penalties for being "too open." That seems to invite disaster. And I can't swing it...it's confusing...and it makes me not want to be here at all. I suspect others may feel the same, hence the slower traffic. Though I still wish everyone the best. IP: Logged |

One should be as open as one feels comfortable being...but just don't insult another person in doing so. Respect others' opinions as you do your own. All individuals are worthy of dignity. IP: Logged |

I don't mind the slow traffic on this heated forum. I'd greatly prefer that over contention. It needs a rest and a recuperation period anyway. A powerful thunderstorm can have a calming effect. IP: Logged |

True we have needed a respite. But a lull doesn't have any innate meaning, it can represent peace or discord. I'm still concerned over the change in policy to "zero tolerance," and I'm sure others are as well. When I said that I hope for a new forum, it was a show of confidence in you, Randall, based on your recent admission that there have been problems. Hence the petitions, etcetera, to try and convey that to you. There is still trouble, however, and you haven't shown any progress in addressing that. There is no overt warning on the forum description that this is a zero tolerance forum. People should be warned and given a choice whether they want to participate or not, considering the gamble it is. More to the point, I feel "zero tolerance" is unnecessary wherever the moderation is widely perceived as fair and just. I didn't mean to sweep anything under a rug and pretend it was all resolved. I hope I didn't stifle anyone from continuing to express their concerns, if that was their wish. Only time will tell how any changes manifest, and I hope it does play out favorably for all parties. Perhaps I succumbed to a sense of irrational exuberance that that was possible. Good intentions need to pick up more momentum than I've seen here so far, to fully effect positive change. Just waiting and seeing. IP: Logged |

Without trust the forum will be empty. If not empty of people, empty of meaning. Why have a forum that is empty in either respect? If I had a forum I would only install leaders that were generally trusted by the members, to effect the best possible atmosphere, a peaceful and true comraderie. I would not try and achieve calmness through litigation and threats. That's not peace. Differentiation between silence and peace is necessary. IP: Logged |
