Ami just said, on this thread: quote: This is my opinion of the aspect that gets me in the most trouble--Nessus conj the ASC. That person will need to face the desires to abuse. This person will need to face this trait within herself, more than someone who does not have a prominent Nessus. Once, these traits are TRULY faced, they can be worked with. However, if the person denies them, it is hopeless.
What are your thoughts? I think this comment is abusive in itself. For reference and comparison: Celebrities with ASC conjunct Nessus: David Letterman 8 Taurus ASC 8 Taurus Nessus Steve Winwood 11 Taurus ASC 10 Taurus Nessus Randy Travis 26 Taurus ASC 24 Taurus Nessus Phillip Michael Thomas 12 Taurus ASC 12 Taurus Nessus Suzanne Somers 9 Taurus ASC 8 Taurus Nessus Daryl Hannah 28 Taurus ASC 26 Taurus Nessus Matthew McConaughey Wide orb: 12 Gemini ASC 15 Gemini Nessus Christina Applegate 19 Gemini ASC 20 Gemini Nessus Ricky Martin 20 Gemini ASC 19 Gemini Nessus Benicio Del Toro 4 Gemini ASC 6 Gemini Nessus Please don't quote, work in progress IP: Logged |

I'm actually glad that you started this thread, because I literally just messaged someone about Nessus (because it does seem sort of unpleasant when it's actually active in a chart or synastry, but I've never paid much mind to Nessus, except superficially).I do sort of want to know if anyone has had any "good" experiences with this asteroid?! I agree, the mentality of assuming someone is in denial about a placement if it doesn't fit their life/personality is unprofessional and potentially damaging to people who are easily influenced and vulnerable emotionally, etc. But I actually want to know about this stupid asteroid (for real). I know someone who has this conjunct their Dsc, and they are, in fact, a bully in a sneaky, insidious type of way (trust me, I have known this person since birth, if you get my drift). Also, someone in my family has Nessus conjunct my husband's Osiris and my Isis (they're conjunct, of course), and they do create quite a bit of havoc for us, although we're fine in general. Not sure about on the Asc, though. I'm looking now to see if I know anyone with it. But...yeah, assuming that if someone has a placement and the cookbook description doesn't fit for them, they must be in denial is a bit...off. I'm wording that very blandly, of course. IP: Logged |

I'll add that I have Juno conjunct Chiron in natal, and it has literally taken me decades to start figuring out what this implies. Because it has taken decades for me to find someone I wanted to actually marry, lol. It's actually a very positive placement for me, which would be the opposite of what one would expect from that conjunction. IP: Logged |

Also, don't quote me on this, please. If it turns into a big argument I don't want my personal stuff being up for everyone to gawk at. IP: Logged |

Hopefully it goes without saying that I agree with you about assigning blanket statements to placements. They can play out in so many ways.I'll add to your comments about Nessus that the people I know who have it conjunct either in natal or synastry have other aspects that would absolutely contribute to any negative qualities of Nessus's presence. But, on a different but sort of related topic, I've noticed that Chiron transits cause me anything but pain. It's true that where Chiron is in my chart has created some regrets, the things I wish I had been able to do but couldn't, or general environment. However...the aspects with Chiron in my chart are the opposite of what one would presume if they only associated Chiron with pain. Still having my coffee and recuperating from getting my little guy and husband out the door this morning, lol. Cold coffee. -_- IP: Logged |

Also, I'm clearly not a person for keeping a conversation on track, so... I was just glad that your thread popped up just as I happened to be wondering about the asteroid. Hm. Edit.
Regarding the people I've mentioned with Nessus, they both have Nessus making hard aspects to either Chart Ruler (Pluto in one case), or Sun. By less than two degrees. So yeah, I think there's something to be said about it not being a super wonderful asteroid, but I'm sure it has its place if used constructively. The person who has it square their Sun also has many more positive qualities than the person who has it square their Pluto and conjunct their Dsc. Just observing here, looking around at only a couple of charts.

Oh, Faith. I can't remember where my Nessus is. I never checked the position of it for anyone I know, and I don't have access to a computer right now. Anything that's happened, I can usually attribute to Pluto, Saturn, Chiron, and most recently Uranus. IP: Logged |

Ami is writing off people who disagree with her astrological directives as being 'in denial'. So, they are mentally unsound in her view. How is that logical?!! This reveals more about her state of mind, not others'. I don't think someone who's erected such a self-protective barrier, which is essentially a barrier to question her own thinking, should be advising others.IP: Logged |

AstroKeen,I really strongly disagree with the Nessus- ASC theory and believe it is wrong to judge someone's character on the basis of their chart. --- Here are some charts of famous abusers (of different levels of severity and different types) and their Nessus placements. Nessus can be checked quickly using true-node.com (click on eph 1, enter Nessus in the list field, enter birthdate.) I am not entering place/time at true-node, so Nessus may be off a few minutes. Jeffrey Dahmer 19 Libra ASC 26 Taurus Nessus
OJ Simpson 24 Leo ASC 10 Taurus Nessus Charles Manson 5 Taurus ASC 24 Aries Nessus John Wayne Gacy 1 Sag ASC 2 Taurus Nessus Richard Ramirez 22 Sag ASC 24 Taurus Nessus Bill Cosby 20 Aries ASC 29 Aries Nessus Chris Brown 14 Leo ASC 19 Virgo Nessus Bernie Madoff 28 Leo ASC 29 Aries Nessus Jim Jones 4 Cap ASC 22 Aries Nessus IP: Logged |

@VioletsEdit, accidentally quoted you. I'll just say thank you for sharing your observations of people with prominent Nessus. Hope we do learn more about this asteroid over time.

I guess we have to see the hole think with the "abuse" in a more neutral way.To abuse you have to be in a higher position than someone. The other person has to feel that you are stronger than her. I never have seen David Letterman a lot, but I know in some degree how he makes his show. On fact he is one of the best man i have seen making shows like these. From what I have seen he is a smart man, don`t gets intimidated by guests, and most of all he likes to make fun out of them. making fun out of someone, could this be abuse? Benicio and Matthew, both beautifull man, Can you see abusive potentiall in theyr face? haha especially Benicio, I think, has a strong face, that matches the theme. IP: Logged |
