I'm late to the party, but my (brief) experiences:* When I was young (middle school-aged), I was on my bus. It was a very long ride - my stop was at the end of a rural route. I was looking out the window, mind blank, and all at once I felt like I was no longer in my body. For that moment, I could..."see" isn't the right word, nor is "understand" - but those are the closest I can get - everything. How everything worked and was one.
That's an inadequate description, but there it is.
I wasn't exactly "out of my body", but I wasn't exactly in it, either. * I had an NDE with an out of body component in my teens. It's involved, so I'll leave it there for now. * I was in China with a school group. While we were in the south at a temple that had...gah, I can't remember its name now. "Monkey" was a part of it.
Anyway, we were walking around a courtyard area. There was an old woman pulling weeds from between the stones. I wasn't really listening to what our teacher was saying - the place was heavy with familiarity. The group moved on, and I stayed. I leaned back against a pillar, held my hands in one another, tilted my head back, and closed my eyes. Edited to add (I had to stop briefly): I felt very...again, "warm" isn't the right word, but it'll have to do...and it felt like I expanded out of my body. I didn't leave it, but it no longer contained me. I felt "myself" expanding further and further outwards, immersed in Love (which is something I would've gotten into if I had expanded upon my NDE)...and then I came zipping back in. My professor had caught me and was pretty annoyed that I had strayed from the group. He stormed off. I looked up and back and saw that the old lady was smiling at me, had apparently watched the whole thing.
I'm curious to know what she saw. These aren't quite OBEs, but they're as close as I've gotten. IP: Logged |

I had an OBE last night 
It reminded me of the easiest way to have one. the easiest way is to become lucid, in a dream. You have to recognize that you are dreaming. Then, say "I want to fly". You will go OBE. It is not that scary to go from a dream because you are already in a different state than the conscious waking state. So, you don't have as far to go, so to speak  What is scary are the sensations from the awake state to the OBE because there is a big difference in vibratory rate.
At any rate, I had a great time flying last night lol

I have obe's several times a year although not on demand-I frequently "come to" the realization that i am somehow 'out and about' during them. when my son was very young, he AND our labrador dog accompanied me! AND some people actually saw us. I would like to be back in those days or to have explored the phenomena more thoroughly at the time.
Nowadays, what has stimulated my OBE's is having my homemade orgonite nearby. orgonite works with physics changing positive ions to negative ones by somehow adding electrons. How this affects the psyche and enables lucid dreams and obe's I do not know. That it works I do know. It does not work 'on demand' though.
I did obe 2 nights ago in the house where I am staying and did see 'someone else' in the house, on the stairs. scared me.IP: Logged |

I have lucid dreams, have willed myself to fly a few times with success but never experienced OBE before. How should I get it to work? Or is something preventing me from OBE, like my energy level problems?IP: Logged |

I am up in the middle of the night. I hope I have one. Well, about the lucid dream. You say," I want to fly" and you will go OBE. It may feel weird like you are going up in an elevator, though.------------------

I started having OOB's in 2000. At first I kept a journal of it. Sometimes it happens without trying. The first time it happened I was meditating, but I knew about OOB's and I'd wanted to experience it. A friend who ued to have them tried to teach me, and I couldn't do it. She had cancer, and told me if she could help when she's on the Other Side, that she would, and she did. I actually felt a spirit hand take my hand and pull me out the first time, and it was my friend. I do see her from time to time in my travels. We go places together sometimes. I have other guides who take me places at times. Other times I'm alone. It's exhilerating and blissful. If I want to do it, I'll set my intention and start with deep breathing. IP: Logged |

Anyone wanting to experience an OBE might want to educate themselves on the ins and outs first. It's not fun to pick up astral muck because you don't know what you are doing and think it's all fun and games out there.Robert Monroe and his teachings/books are a great place to start. No one should try to go into this blindly thinking they are just going to soar around like a seagull in a breeze and soak up some sunshine and that's it. Please don't be naive or irresponsible. That's a good point, T. Always say a prayer of protection beforehand. It's a good idea to have a spiritual mentor who can teach you the rules of the road, someone who can answer any questions you may have. There are precautions to take. Personally, I've never had a bad experience, but I've heard of some.IP: Logged |

 Great advice. And I wouldnt say I've had a bad experience - or anything life threatening. I mean, I always end up back in my body, but there are precautions to take. As with anything...especially anything having to do with the etheric or astral realm. I'd rather people be educated and more safe than sorry. One teacher I'm currently learning from (not on the subject of OBE's per se) is a very wise woman, well versed and experienced in these areas, & she cannot stress enough the importance of protecting oneself in white light along with other measures. She brings it up a lot. Anyone who is exploring spiritual healing, psychic realms etc. needs to know how to protect themselves. Just like we protect ourselves in certain ways in the physical realm. To not do so is asking for trouble and could be harmful to one's spirit or psychic/energetic health. IP: Logged |

Anyway, I have not been able to have one in quite a while.It does take discipline for me.I need to do the exercises to get it going.Then, it seems to stay on it's own course.I miss them a lot.------------------
