Faith, I find the overlays to natal chart interesting, too. Yun and me talked a little bout that.
I do think however they have to be "hooked" onto the Marks - chart - underlying scenario.
What I mean with this is for example this here. Let me take an example of not a relationship, but actually Mr Sag`s Davison with his very own "stalker/observer-moment" 
What would his Davison with that moment say?
I find this Davison to be pretty straight forward (not all of them are).

What it of course tells us INSTANTLY is Chiron on the ASC. Hu? 
The ASC representing how he experienced the moment from a very own, subjective perspective. So here in Scorpio and with Chiron right on top of the ASC?
So what he experienced was... pain?
The question that come up for me are of course immediate:
What kind of pain?
Why?
Well we also know that Chiron is not only pain, but a feeling of being exposed somehow, being placed into a very vulnerable position. And now letīs think again HOW MUCH a Scorpio(ASC) would like that!!!!
To get a bit of a more complete picture, at this point, I have a look at the midpoints configured with ASC (and in this instance also with Chiron, as the conjunction is so close), to see what is underneath that experience of the moment that apparently made him feel uncomfortable, awkward, vulnerable (I did not put it into it, but Psyche was conjunct it as well on 18 Scorpio). It`s almost like being reminded of an old wound(ing).
Anyway in terms of midpoints we find:
ASC conjunct Venus/Node
ASC conjunct Neptune/MC
(along with ASC square Sun/Mars and ASC square Jupiter/Uranus)
The Jupiter/Uranus-mp with the ASC indicating that moment at that place something happening all of a sudden to him, some sudden surprising event. And Sun/mars. oh well no clue.
But what is probably more directly tied to his personal experience is it being conjunct Venus/Node and Neptune/MC.
A simultaneous happening of a connection (Node) with a woman (Venus), and just purely coincidentally Venus rules the DESC, representing the other party.
Don`t you just love astrology? lol
And at the same time bewilderment, confusion, like the some status situation is being somehow muddled.
Well the offcial interpretation of this aspect would be:
"MC/NE=AS To commit frauds with other people."
(Can even a look be considered fraud?) lol
Going beyond this a little, the chartruler Pluto is also in 1st house, (so a very ME-experience of that moment, very intensely drawn into himself, which the whole chart implies btw). No major aspects for this Pluto, except for the sextile to Uranus and square to MC.
Midpoints are:
Pluto conjunct Uranus/Lilith (no comment)
Pluto square Saturn/neptune (the most exact)
Pluto conjunct Node/IC
Pluto square Sun/Saturn wide
Well certainly not the easiest pictures here with an already brooding Pluto in 1st house. On NN/IC, something having to do with the very basic roots of that experience for him.
Saturn/Neptune and Sun/Saturn are pretty OUCH, too (fitting the Chiron on ASC), though of course Saturn/Neptune ALSO represents a dissolving of boundaries, borders whatever (or at least the promise/ threat of it, might have been experienced more like a threat here, though).
SA/NE=PL To have a disappointment. A chronic condition which changes so little it is unnoticeable. A divorce extending over a long time.
SO/SA=PL Abstinence. Retarded development. The normal action of the body's organs is hindered.
It`s is really only at this point that I of course make a mental note that:
1. my name asteroid in my chart is on almost 17 Taurus, hence falling onto the DESC of his Davison exact (and the DESC indicating the other, those he encountered that moment anyway).
2. our Davison MC and Juno being on 15 and 18 Scorpio I think?
(so recalling the basic question asked: WHAT kind of pain and WHY? - now it gets pretty clear and straightforward right?)
3. His own natal Valentine on 19 Scorpio suddenly comes to mind as well (and my n Anteros on 19 Scorpio plus my n Lancelot on 16 Scorpio)
4. my n ASC on 7 Sagittarius, hence on that poor tortured Pluto exact. It`s not so much that I "understand" what he is going through, as Yun suggested we should interprete, I am the freaking reason.
5. our Davison BML on 6 Gemini
(so what about me again is the reason?)
At this point we wouldn`t even have to look any further into the chart, it is just so telling right here, with only the 1st house/ ASC-configurations.
I think at least for now that the Davison with a moment or the Marks chart is WHAT we experience, and whatever is triggered in the natal or DAvison itself will possibly illuminate the WHY. (of course we can find a bit why in the Marks chart, too probably).
Well there are some other things standing out about THAT chart though, for example the fact that all, I repeat ALL, planets are below the horizon!
That is rare. Speaks for a very focused, concentrated experience of the moment (fitting the Scorpio-ASC) but one that was not visible at all, keeping it all below deck so to speak (which must have felt weird for him, his natal chart has such a cnocentration above horizon.
What also ties into this is this:
Big stellium in 3rd house, speaking of an active mind, mental processes, usually I`d say communication, but here?
SEe how four planets are intercepted in 3rd house (Sun, Uranus, Mars, Jupiter), including the two gender-identity planets for him?
He might have done a lot of thinking and mental processing but I tentatively think that intercepted houses in these Event-davisons represents things that are somehow more hidden.
The ONLY planet not hidden is Neptune, and being on the last minutes of the sign, in a vulnerable position anyway, and come on, we are talking about Neptune here! Not that open and direct anyway. 
That Neptune is of course also important as ruler of the IC, the root of the whole experience.
Neptune conjunct VEnus/Uranus
Neptune conjunct Saturn/ASC
so at the root and basis of it all are two forces pretty much pulling into directly opposite directions.
Venus/Uranus talking about that zing and spark and love at first sight (well attraction at first sight) scenario; Saturn/ASC speaking about isolating oneself.
Or officially reading
VE/UR=NE Unhappy love with resignation, Secret in sudden romantic love.
AS/SA=NE To be separated through falsehood or lies.
Whatever that means if composed together. lol
But you know me, I am curious, even though the chart already did so much talking.
Even if hidden, WHAT was going on in this head of his?
3rd house, which contains the Sun of all planets and that of course is pretty much the summing up of the whole chart (as the Sun is in pretty much every chart, giving the energy of the experience).
That Sun has the conjunction to Neptune (and a widish one to Uranus) resulting in
Sun conjunct Uranus/Neptune
So the Uranus/Neptune-factor again, and yes, he did look a little bewildered and "out-of-place" somehow.
"UR/NE=SO Days of change between tension and relaxation. The man who changes between tension and relaxation, who works energetically or not at all, who is thrown back and forth by impulses. To be a medium. Trance-like states."
Yes, pretty much the impression he gave. lol
Uranus as ruler of the intercepted 3rd house in 3rd house, pretty much important, though very very hidden as well
Uranus conjunct Mercury/IC
Uranus conjunct Venus/Jupiter
"MC/ME=UR To be suddenly notified. To have spontaneous thoughts. To become enraged or excited.
VE/JU=UR Sudden setting in of love's joy."
(at this point I can`t help but notice that this URanus fell onto 8 Aquarius, 1 degree off my progressed Sun)
Then there is of course the intercepted Mars-Jupiter-conjunction, squaring Moon; interesting also because it repeats his natal Mars-Jupiter-conjunction and the Davison NN falls exactly onto this Mars-Jupiter of his.
this Davison Mars-Jupiter falls onto my true BML btw, and close enough to mean BML as well (3 degrees).
In the light of my BML being overlaying I find some of the midpoints very interesting
Moon conjunct Venus/Lilith (the tightest Moon-picture)
Venus, as ruler of the DESC, indicating the other party anyway and here bringing Moon in connection with Lilith, like usual I almost wrote. lol
But also
moon conjunct Pluto/ASC
Moon square Mars/Jupiter
Moon square MErcury/Saturn wide
Mars conjunct Pluto/DESC
Mars conjunct Venus/Lilith (even closer than the Moon-picture with only 8 minutes *sighs*
Mars conjunct Mercury/Saturn
Jupiter conjunct Pluto/DESC (8 minutes)
Jupiter conjunct Venus/Lilith
Maybe it was good it was all so hidden. lol
AS/PL=MO Environment influences on the development of character. The influence of a change in place on the mind. In other places, outside, the native appears in the public.
AS/PL=MA To plan changes.
ME/SA=MA To be separated through quarrel or dissension. A trip that has to be made.
AS/PL=JU Fortunate changes at the place
(they donīt always all make sense )
But speaking of the OTHER, or the way he related to the other, that would be the DESC here, and signified by Venus, leading back into his 2nd house but conjunct 3rd house cusp (more thinking, also some sort of valueing with 2nd house here, but of course all again below horizon, under the surface). That Venus is also unaspected save for the close conjunction to the PoF, which signifies what makes one happy. lol
Venus as hidden as she was had these midpoints; remembering that is how he related (from his perspective) to whomever he encountered that moment:
Venus conjunct Pluto/IC wide
Venus conjunct Sun/Mercury wide
Venus conjunct Mercury/Neptune close (this one seems to often come up)
SO/ME=VE A Young girl. Love of a young body.
ME/NE=VE love dream. Love poem. To adore.
Yeah well, moving on. lol
But the main ruler of the 3rd house was of course Saturn in 5th house and that one squaring the natural ruler of communication Mercury - does not get any clearer I guess. An exchange between 5th and 3rd house, but with the ruler of 5th house being intercepted in 3rd house a of internalized thinking about expressing his feelings, which were actually rather expansive with thta conjunction to Jupiter, but at the same time the ruler of 3rd house being Saturn in 5th house, especially with that square to Mercury - speaks to me of blocked and muted communication and no clear expression of anything.
midpoints were
Saturn opposite Node/ASC
Saturn opposite Moon/MC
MC/MO=SA The personal relations to the public are upsetting or disturbed. Experiencing grief through females (melancholy).
Mercury conjunct MOon/Jupiter wide
Mercury conjunct Moon/Mars
Mercury opp. NOde/DESC
MO/JU=ME To think of happy times. Happy hours with cheerful conversations. Thoughts of a happy woman.
MO/MA=ME A very active brain. Inclined to heated arguments. The angry woman/ wife. thinking and communicating passionately.
Well I *COULD* mention that our Davison ASC is conjunct that Mercury by only 1 degree, or that my pr ASC is just 2 degrees off it as well, but I guess at this point I donīt really have to. lol
With that Mercury there would actually have been an urge to communicate (and probably in a Moon/Mars or Moon/Jupiter way) but with that Cerberus Saturn guarding the doors to both the communication / thinking of 3rd house and the expressionality of 5th house?
No chance. lol
But it does make sense in the light of what I told you before, doesn`t it?
