Should happiness have to hurt?
Sacrifice? What is this word.

I’m of the opinion that you can stress out, you can sacrifice yourself a ton. But why do u feel ur making a sacrifice? Learning is fun, not really learning is the chore. What’s right feels right. The right job is fun for you, the right work is fun for you, the teacher who knows how to teach is also fun. Nothing in life is worth stress. Life’s too short to make sacrifices. Sacrifices don’t always pay off, and then what do you have? Do what you please, but think of others first always, love other people, be conscientious, then your conscience will be clean. But do what you please, live free, do what you enjoy. Do what moves you. Then you’ll truly be living.

Sacrifice means you have a strong ego and you're hurting yourself on purpose, usually to purge yourself from guilt.
Sometimes it is a necessary step to understand what motivates you and how, although you like to think about yourself as selfless, you actually are very self-centered.
It all depends where you come from and how advanced you are on your own path.
None of us were born perfect but I like to think we do our best, even when our best is not much

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. Reading what you wrote, you have it going on; perhaps you don't need to ask anything, because you already know.

Priorities are important. If you focus on one goal, other things might need to be given up. That's just life.

We give to one another for Love.

You shouldn't have to give up your own Happiness for the sake of another unless it is in your Heart to do so.

Of course, s*xually speaking it can be fun...

Everything is Energy, everything is Light. Some things may have to be sacrificed, to provide enough Light to manifest something new. If you have had something packed up in a box for the last five years, do you REALLY need it?

For something new to come into your life, you may have to convert the Energy; and that involves sacrifice.

When it comes to expressing yourself and being True to ones self, that's a different story. We were put here to be what we are to the best of our abilities.

There are so many adages and proverbs, but they have been around because they have merit:

Love One Another
To thine own Self be True
Do unto others as you would have them do to you. (Reap what you Sow)

If you can take these things to Heart and Live by them all, they will bloom and flower in your Life, and you will unfold the True Self from Within.

I wish that were the case for me.

I hated school with a passion.

I hate my job with a passion.

It pays the bills.

If I followed my passions, I would be very broke and hungry. It obviously doesn't pay the bills hahaha

sacrifice=inconvenience

life is short and had better include zero inconveniences

so unless its about someone's life or health... really, why in the world ??

just my opinion

PS yeah obvs i didn't mean one should go against the grain of ethics/moral standards, in that case it's just one option really, not to

Indeed!

Life should be easy, right? Life should be fun?We should be feeling excitement from the moment we wake to the time we sleep.

So why does it feel so painful? So unbelievably excruciating?

"Sacrifice" has no place when what you are opting to achieve feels natural to you. Than it is not "sacrifice" at all, but an action towards self-actualization.

Undue "sacrifice" is self-denial, self-suppression, self-contraction and unease. And as I am typing this, I realize that I am about to make an action that is defined as the latter than the former. Yikes!

But do you sometimes think that perhaps you have been deceived? That school and perhaps your own upbringing has led you to believe that within the great contrasts of this world, your own version of paradise is possible? I certainly do at times.

And then I resolve myself to the conclusion that it is all for nothing. Nothing but perhaps the "experience" of all of it; the highs, the lows, the pain, the freedom etc.

Just a thought.

The word sacrifice really means "to make sacred"
From the Latin root words
So many people think it means giving up a part of yourself.
In a different perspective you can think of it as a dedicated spiritual practice, only giving what comes through you from spirit that feels right and in alignment with your life experience instead of giving under so called obligation laced with feelings of guilt.

Sacrifice creates an empty space, and nature abhors a vacuum. So, sacrifice actually creates a gain (in some way or another).

Sacrifice - the surrender or destruction of something prized or desirable for the sake of something considered as having a higher or more pressing claim.

You don't sacrifice for your own personal gain, this is not how I view it anyways.

Sacrifice is when your loved one is distraught with a dilemma, one that is affecting her/his health or happiness. It is when you unselfishly take from yourself so that the one you love might find their happiness.

If the woman that I loved were terminally ill, if she were facing the loss of her life from this illness and only I had the power to free her from this, but by doing so, I would be laying waste to my own life.

I would, without even a single thought, sacrifice my life so that hers can live on.

I would make that sacrifice.

Happiness is a byproduct of serving others in some form.
