Ah, but animal protein is not the same as human protein. We build protein from amino acids, most of which the body also creates; however, we do need eight essential amino acids from our diet. Since meat is usually cooked, the amino acids are destroyed by the heat, thus making plant sources the best sources for protein (keeping in mind that our protein requirements are overstated). Barring any trauma to the nail, white spots are caused by a zinc deficiency. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Oysters, seafood, eggs, seeds, legumes, and fruit. If you have a deficiency, it's better to take a 50 mg supplement (really inexpensive). I sometimes pick mine up at a grocery store.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." The body requires zinc to heal wounds. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

This might qualify as the dumbest question EVER, but that's what's so nice about the anonymity of the Internet.... Does anyone know if one could achieve immortality while smoking 2 or 3 cigarettes a day? I am asking for a friend (smiles). IP: Logged |

Certainly! Smoking isn't nearly as bad as they would have you believe, although it's far from a healthy practice. But there are worse things that the Immortal body must deal with, like the chemically-laden plastics that we can't escape. Quit when you can do so with a minimal amount of stress, and then your lung tissue will quickly regenerate and become new again. ------------------ "Nurture great thoughts, for you will never go higher than you think." Randall, what would make the lung tissue regenerate? A firm belief in its ability to (i.e., visualization)? Or something else? I'm trying to wrap my head around this whole thing, and it's not wrapping! Do you know of any books on the topic you could recommend? IP: Logged |

No, lung tissue regenerates on its own (mortal or immortal) once there is cessation of smoking. It's automatic. In about six months, the lungs become pink again.------------------ "Nurture great thoughts, for you will never go higher than you think." Disraeli IP: Logged |

Yes, true but unless the lungs have become so damaged that they have lost their ability to regenerate. that's why it's important to abstain from smoking in periods if you want to keep on smoking.IP: Logged |

Randall I know very well that the body is 99 percent new after just one year, and completely new after 7 years or so, but how come then tattoos don't disappear?IP: Logged |

Tattoos are foreign substances (inks), so the two are mutually exclusive. But they do break down after years and need to be touched up.------------------ "Nurture great thoughts, for you will never go higher than you think." Disraeli IP: Logged |
