I'm assuming she's planning to add its head to her collection, though she does say it's very ugly. :P http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,295481,00.html I'm not sure what to think, but it's there for the cryptozoologists among us. More: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chupacabra IP: Logged |

Wikopedia describes the appearance of a Chupacabra as: quote: It looks like a Mexican Hairless, a breed of dog that is from central America and common to the area that the Chupacabra is said to roam. The Chupacabra appears to have leathery, scaly, or reptile like greenish-gray skin, and sharp spines or quills running down its back.[9] This form stands approximately 3 to 4 feet (1 to 1.2 m) high, and stands and hops in a similar fashion to a kangaroo. In at least one sighting, the creature hopped 20 feet (6 m). This variety is said to have a dog or panther-like nose and face, a forked tongue protruding from it, large fangs, and to hiss and screech when alarmed, as well as leave a sulfuric stench behind. When it screeches, some reports note that the chupacabra's eyes glow an unusual red, then give the witnesses nausea. For some witnesses, it was seen with bat-like wings.
This thing does'nt seem to fit that description... (forked tongue, scales, quills, spines, etc.) I think it's actually a dog with demodectic or sarcoptic mange. Either way -It's bit creepy looking is'nt it? Cool find! Thanks for sharing Dervish Sendin' love your way, "your friend in spirit" IP: Logged |

It (the pic) looks like a ferel hog to me, however...Once while driving at dusk, in the Texas Hillcounrty with my daughter something ran across the sendera infront of us... I sitll do not know to this day what it was, it was for sure black, and lanky and loped gracefully in front of us from brush to brush infront of my truck. It's hindquarters were higher than the front quarters and it carried it's head low...the regional animals I have ruled out...not a deer, not a ferel hog, not a stray dog, too big for a coyote and the wrong body shape. We have Mountain Lions here, but it was too big for that even and the wrong color... O, and my daughter just reminded me we did not see a visible tail.... Strange... Maybe, just maybe a chupacabra!!! It has been said that aliens brought them here long ago.... Who knows.... IP: Logged |

Yeah, humans have reported being attacked, but no deaths are attributed to one (but then what DT or other professional would put "chupacabra" as cause of death on the form?). IP: Logged |

You know, I read this story in Eagleman's thread and when I read this thread about the Chupacabra I wondered if that was what the old farmer in Eagleman's story actually saw. Mainly because in the Wikipedia article it stated that the Chupacabra's eyes are said to turn red and that the animal hops. The story eagleman told: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum7/HTML/008698-2.html Then there was this farmer who was combining his field at night. He saw a person in front of the combine so he stopped. This person took one big jump onto the combine looking into the window at the farmer. The farmer said he saw red eyes and froze up. His son found him the next day because he was gone all night. When he found his dad he was in a fetal position frozen in shock at what he saw. When he came to in the hospital he told them he saw someone or something jumping around the combine and had stopped in front of the combine. Myself, I believe this story because alot of things happen on the reservation. Both white and natives can confirm this story. This happened at Sica Hollow or close by Sisseton S.Dak. between 1998 and 1999. There is something vampiric about this animal but it is really no different than the Vampire Bats. Just bigger and even more ugly and frightening looking.

artlovesdown-very well-said! I totally agree with you. It's so cruel to kill animals so then to hang them on walls like trophies. jee, I think that ppl who do that have a REALLY cold heart. And that pic is really nerve-touching to me... that poor animal, "chupacabra or whatever" has a really sad look. I don't care if it's a "monster"- none has the right to kill it. There are way more evil people walking down the street and none thinks about exterminating them. Of course, that would be terribly wrong and mean. My point is, animals must have the same rights as humans; they are such humble and wise beings. We should respect them, and learn to live with them instead of using our power to dominate,use/abuse and finally kill them. It's really sad to see what human beings do to other 'species', and nature itself IP: Logged |

Looks to me like a poor deformed dog or hyena. Or abused dog who was killed after being abused to create this hoax. I am not saying there is not a real chupacabra. there probably is or was, just like Nessie or Bigfoot. But that poor sad beast is not one. Heads on walls...sick sick sick. It disgusts me how most humans view ugly as bad. Poor old murdered thing. PS. Someone should test its DNA.....at least to rule out or in if it was a dog the sick woman abused or her equally sick heartless buddies. And if it is a new hereto unknown species she should be imprisoned for murdering an animal of an endangered or rare species! ------------------ "Heaven doesn't want me and Hell is afraid I'll take over and start a rehab for the damned!" ~Judgement Must Be Balanced With Compassion~ ~Do Not Seek Wealth From The Suffering, Or The Dire Needs Of Others~ ~Assumption Is The Bane Of Understanding~ ~ if you keep doing what you did, you'll keep getting what you got.~ Everything changes. I'm more inclined to see the chupacabra as a supernatural beastie. Tales of it fit the profile. As for this, the story doesn't say how she shot it. It insinuates that the animal was attacking her chickens, in which case I think she had grounds for shooting it. 'Course if she THOUGHT it MIGHT attack her chickens, that strikes me as too extreme. Though she had endured her chickens being killed for awhile now. But putting any head on the wall...I thought that was something only guys did. And doing this one, it strikes me as especially creepy. I think in this case I'd be too superstitious to do so...and being superstitious is not normally something I'm prone to doing. Btw, I CAN see this as being a hoax to make money. That would explain why she'll mount the head, too, to sell views to tourists and photographers. IP: Logged |
