Ok, bring on the nostalgia..

I just listened to The Cure's "inbetween days"..

remembering driving around midwestern backroads, listening to the cure as a teenager..with my best friend and a 1977 Bobcat....

ack, I am drunk and maudlin...

now I am old.

d@mmit.

MK

ETA: I have never seen the video for "Friday I'm in Love..."

how cute. I have decided that if Robert Smith can act like a teenager in his 40s, then so can I!!!

Another edit... OMG, I had totally forgotten Terrence Trent D'arby!! I must run out and buy this again!! (I am such a dork.)
I love watching him get up on the white girl with the double chin....maybe this is why I never end up dating white guys. D@mn you TTD!!!

quote:
Another interesting note re; this guy:
Comments from spiritulists worldwide claim Falco was a reincarnation of Wolfgang. They're both Austrian musical prodegies who were two of the biggest Europian musical acts of their time. Both were known for a wild, innovative style and Falco did serious study in classical style before moving on to this kind of music.
Another great 80's song of his was " The Star of Moon and Sun "
*strange...

You know, I often wonder what Mozart would do after hearing modern music. Would he change up his arrangements into more rock n roll fare? Would he become a percussion junkie?

I love Billy.
Thanks for remembering,

Cool thread.
I loved so many kinds of
music then. 60's,70's as well
as 80's first alternative
and Real Hard Rock.

YFIS, I had not seen that. How cool!

AG - I can totally see Mozart as a member of Daft Punk. lol
But (keeping it in the 80s), I think a good match for "Mozart as a modern musician" would be Kate Bush - fellow piano-playing genius individualist.

Mannu, that would be the "Divo"
Really, gotta' check it out...

Clickity-click, LOL!

Are we not men? We are divo.: NYC’s biggest male divas can be divided by type—and traced back to an exemplar of the form.
The divo rules: Follow these guidelines and you’ll soon be getting special treatment and mad access.
The divo: inside
Divo VS Diva
“Do you know who I am?”: A writer takes a divo test-drive, swanning about town to see what the timeless question will get him.

Enjoy

The Cult's "Wild Flower" and "FireWoman"
Sweet! -thank you...
Hey on my computer I have have a really rare jam session of Billy with Eric Clapton and Sting. It's WOW! -I'll send it your way. My mother board fried and it's getting repaired/replaced now, so I don't have access to it, but either way it's on the hard drive and should be safe. I can hardly wait to get it back...

Interesting fact of how Billy Idol chose his band name:
According to "Behind the Music", it was based on a teacher's livid scrawling of "WILLIAM IS IDLE" (lazy) on one of his school papers, and Billy himself thinking "It should be 'rock idol!'"
(His real name is William Michael Albert Broad)

This song was amazing on cassette, but not so on CD:

Depeche Mode - Two Minute Warning

I wonder if I could move through the astrological signs with Depeche Mode songs:

Aries - Route 66 or If You Want

Taurus - Dressed In Black

Gemini - Something To Do or Flexible or Behind The Wheel

Cancer - Somebody or It's Called a Heart

Virgo - Sometimes or Shake The Disease

Libra - Get The Balance Right or People Are People

Scorpio - Strangelove or Stripped or Never Let Me Down Again or To Have and To Hold

Sagittarius - World In My Eyes or The Things You Said

Capricorn - But Not Tonight or Everything Counts or Work Hard

Aquarius - Stories of Old

Pisces - It Doesn't Matter Two or Waiting For The Night or My Secret Garden or

Well, I didn't get finished, but I have to go. My last temp job just ended last Wednesday, and they've already got something else lined up for me, but I have to go get a drug test form.
