This thread is making me hungry for meat. I realize it's supposed to have the opposite effect, but, in the wise words of Homer Simpson...'Mmmmm....sacrilicious....' *drool* PETA is not a very good representative for vegans or vegetarians. Lately they're using the term 'sea kittens' for fish ...I'm sorry, I just can't take them seriously. IP: Logged |

I agree, MVM.PETA can be screwed up. But there are worse things. Its important to stay on topic. Have you seen this, yet? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyoGVJ1KxpY&feature=related IP: Logged |

"The majority of men do not think in order to know the truth, but, rather, in order to reassure themselves that the life which they are living, and which is both habitual and agreeable to them, is the one which coincides with the truth." ~ Leo Tolstoy “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. Why is it so hard to accept the dualistic nature of people? Yes, we can be animal lovers and eat meat. Yes, we kill everywhere we go. Yes, we can respect those who eat meat and those who do not.I don't do black and white. Shades of gray. If it will be called hypocrisy, so be it. But it's more like duality. IP: Logged |

Oh please, HSC. Manipulative technique doesn't go very far with me. I don't know what you're trying to 'prove' of you yourself eat any kind of flesh or drink milk.No self-respecting vegan would stoop to such levels. So you go ahead and enjoy those videos for yourself

I hear you. Some men beat their wives. It doesnt mean they don't love them. We can love someone, and still hurt them. Have you seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyoGVJ1KxpY&feature=related IP: Logged |

To Whom It May Concern, I am a sinner.
Can I make that any clearer? This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. ~ Galatians 5:16-18
Having openly confessed my sins, and sincerely resolved to work upon myself, I am redeemed by the grace of forgiveness.
Not that my flesh is any less disobedient, for disobedience is nought but the very nature of flesh, but, only this: that my faith is consecrated to the will of the Spirit. My love to everyone. It is not my wish to manipulate. Or to put on airs, or any such thing. Only to communicate my personal truth clearly. "Who has ears to hear, let them hear." IP: Logged |

why torture yourself wtih a standard you don't want to or can't live to? be kinder to yourself.in the bible - paul said - that which i do not that i do. for indeed the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. so my question is this - do you eat meat to be cruel? or are you just hungry for a whopper? and if indeed you are forgiven and live under grace and are not a glutton. i don't see the problem. accept your impefection and let it go. non issue. do you wear a leather belt? i believe man is over all animals and therefore has the right to use meat for food, skins for shelter and clothing and with a responsibly to respect all life. when a cow can do algebra and pigs can myspace, then we will talk about cruel. when poeple dont spay and nueter their animals, that is cruel. keeping a snake in a cage all of its life so we can look at it for what purpose? that is cruel. keeping a bird in a cage when it is meant to fly, that is cruel. and stinky. a frog in a fishtank, that is cruel. to beat yourself up over something like this, just being cruel to yourself.

I think some may take as much issue with the ways in which animals are kept and slaughtered as they do with eating that animal flesh. Maybe more so.I stopped eating red meat when I was in my late teens and progressed from there. I think I was 19, but I might be off a year or two. My reasons at the time were many. I'm 38 now and those reasons have expanded and altered quite a bit since then. IP: Logged |

No, people eat meat to get the correct nutrients they need. I'm mostly a chicken and fish person myself and I've tried to leave meat behind many times but failed.
Anyways, not everyone has the resources to live a vegan lifestyle without becoming completely iron deficient. There are poorer people around the world with enough problems on their hands. IP: Logged |

Most of us have to taste our need in a fierce sort of way before our hungers jar us into turning our lives over to God.... In the Divine Arms we become less demanding and more like the One who holds us. Then we experience new hungers. We hunger and thirst for justice, for goodness and holiness. We hunger for what is right. We hunger to be saints. Most of us are not nearly hungry enough for the things that really matter. That’s why it is so good for us to feel a gnawing in our guts.- Macrina Wiederkehr "A Tree Full of Angels"

Of course there is, in fact even my doctor said it and every Bio course I've taken pretty much agrees. And curry powder, chicken, and fish are high in iron? If that was the case then I probably wouldn't be so anemic-we use and eat the aforementioned almost everyday in my house. IP: Logged |

well i have solved as far as i can the problem of toxins by eating organic (especially meat and dairy) for about 30 years now. i am at an age when my mom had had her first heart scare (tho she had palpitations throughout her life) and i can still run around with my grandson and have more energy than when i was 30...so, i am not sold on the meat thing. i also eat chocolate! however i do not drink liquor except for rare occasions. it doesn't agree with me so i leave it alone.like i said we are all food for someone/thing and though there are no people meat farms because we are better at staving that scenario off, it still is true. i happen to believe that plants are also sentient but i eat them too. here in california however neither plants nor animals are completely organic, in fact there are probably very few purely organic foods in the world, our water supply being adulterated as it is. that is why i want my manor, with its own spring water, ground fit for raising a few meat animals, poultry and fish, and vegetable and fruit. haven't got it yet but it is in the "organic belt" as well, so less airborne pesticides to worry about... but i'm not completely sold on the pesticide thing either, having grown up next to a farm where they did spraying on a regular basis. i guess i am just one healthy freak! i too think the way we use animals for "toys"(pets) is often much crueler than using them for sustenance. but as above, i do my best to make sure my meat is not only the least poisoned but the least tortured i can find. respect makes a huge difference. hsc - also - if you indeed eat meat, and you are mad at yourself for doing so. what is the point of this thread? debate for the sake of debate? vegans vs. meat eaters? more non-sense argueng? hopeing for a gang up so you can once again say, look i didnt do anything they are bad and mean to me.? to see if more people respond to your threads than any other? usually they do. lots of people can't get more than two people to say hi this or that. i do seriously want to know why the thread on how they kill hogs? i mean a lot of people in the world have died of hunger since this thread started. is it cruel for us to debate what we eat in light of the fact that there are starving children worldwide? what you said to lexx the other day was really really mean. i wonder because you are having a hard time if you just have to try to dig until you throw someone elses guts out on the table for all to see to make you feel better and yet it doesnt make you feel better does it? and my questions in no way mean i dont like you, i am trying to understand, you are sensitive and going through a hard time, i appreciate who you are, i just dont always understand why you hurt people on purpose sometimes..
