I loved the movie "The Razor's Edge"--I think it may be the only serious role played by Bill Murray...his co-star in that is Theresa Russell--I love all of her movies. One I saw recently on cable is "The Outsider" with Naomi Watts and Tim Daly. I don't get out much, so I'm not current. IP: Logged |

Yes, I saw What the Bleep twice just to absorb the info and to get a better idea of how I felt about this "quantum physics" philosophy. Basically, I was left with the view that even though we are "machines" we have the ability to impact our reality and create our own lives. The movie to me was an elaborate way of showing that we are creative beings, but really did not go into what we should do with that creativity. The movie left us with a "blank canvas" and told us yes you have "paints" to work with. Methophorically speaking,I don't think I really have to know the chemical make-up of the paints and the origin and historic background of the pigments used in the paint. Nor do I need to know that "Yes, you can paint." I know what! I actually enjoyed the film, but it touches upon a philosophy that has been really bothering me for some time now. That philosopy is that we are totally an illusion a hologram asleep thatGod is watching us lovingly until we wake up. It's a bizarre philosophy in which What the Bleep basically supports. However, it leaves me a bit cold and feeling that people who fundamentally believe this have a smug attitude as if they know something "we" don't know. (Boy, I have a bad attitude today. sorry hope you get my point anyway.)IP: Logged |

you know what...i am so very surprised that very few people have seen 'the believer' starring ryan gosling (the notebbok)it is amazing...he is one of the finest actors of this generation...and is a darn good actor too... its just as under rated as 'somethings gotta give' with jack nicholson and diane keaton IP: Logged |

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest- I absolutely love this movie, probably one of my favorites. I agree with whalewasp78, 2001: A Space Odyssey is just an incredible movie. I like the sequel a lot as well. Monty Python's Life of Brian- meant to be a comedy/parody, of course, but I think it has a lot of good messages. Life is Beautiful The Green Mile There are probably other movies, but I really have a tendency to forget what movies I've seen. I should keep a list, it's ridiculous. IP: Logged |

'Shine'. A film about a pianist recovering from a nervous breakdown. I think it's wonderfully acted and very inspirational.I noticed 'Hideous Kinky' on a few lists. I love that, although it took a couple of viewings to get into it. Also it's wonderfully photographed. 'Holy Smoke' made me laugh and shed a few tears too. I'm not a Winslett fan - i didn't like the way her accent disintegrated in stressful scenes. Again, excellent photography and well chosen locations in the Flinders Ranges. 'Sirens'. It's not really spititual in the normal sense, but it is about personal power, the struggle against religious doctrine and conventions. Shot mostly in the Blue Mountains of NSW, Australia. You have to love it, really... ;-) 'Photographing Faries' - Anyone seen this? It's a BBC film, a bit downbeat at the end. I loved the story idea though. It's based on the story of the Cottingley Fairies. 'Contact'. Carl Sagan's novel of the same title is much more in-depth than the film, and the characters better fleshed out. The ending is different and more emotional and spititual. I still love the film though; again it's well acted and wonderfully photographed. The CG sequence at the start is still the longest single CG shot in a feature film. Wow! That's all i can think of for now. IP: Logged |
