silverstone You continue to astound and amaze me with your perceptions. Those poems are amongst the well loved of mine also. Did you know that one of my nicknames is, and has been, for a long time...."Enigma"? The pictures you chose for me also hold deep meaning to me. Thank You my friend. _________________________________________ ~Judgement Must Be Balanced With Compassion~ ~Do Not Seek Wealth From The Suffering, Or The Dire Needs Of Others~ ~Assumption Is The Bane Of Understanding~IP: Logged |

Dear wonderful people on this thread I just wanted to tell you how wonderful you made me feel by giving me an opportunity to participate in sharing loving emotions through the poems and images, and through your gentle treating of one another. I'm so thankful for that. Last few days I find hard to express what I feel through the words, so I wanted to contributed to this gentle thread by sharing the music of one of the most wonderful artist that I've ever listened to, Ennio Morricone. He brings me peace, makes me think gently of the things and of life, and I hope you will enjoy his music too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRb8KKyenSY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvBT9sqXnew Love to you all wonderful, wonderful people

The Lake Isle of Innisfree I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree, And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made: Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee, And live alone in the bee-loud glade. And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow, Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings; There midnight's all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow, And evening full of the linnet's wings. I will arise and go now, for always night and day I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore; While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey, I hear it in the deep heart's core.

Thank you fayte.m Also, thank you for returning back here; you made many people happy, including me. Though I am quite new in here, I saw how people reacted when you came back, and by reading your posts; I see why. You seem to be so gentle, kind and wise. And also, you have the loveliest little icons and images Here's something I'd like to share; Silence is the great teacher, and to learn its lessons you must pay attention to it. There is no substitute for the creative inspiration, knowledge, and stability that come from knowing how to contact your core of inner silence. ~ Deepak Chopra "The deepest feelings always show itself in silence; not in silence, but restraint." ~ Marianne Williamson It is better wither to be silent, or to say things of more value than silence. Sooner throw a pearl at hazard than an idle or useless word; and do not say a little in many words, but a great deal in a few. ~ Pythagoras They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel. ~ Carl Buehner ~ Do you want to improve the world? I don't think it can be done.
The world is sacred. It can't be improved. If you tamper with it, you'll ruin it. If you treat it like an object, you'll lose it. There is a time for being ahead, a time for being behind; a time for being in motion, a time for being at rest; a time for being vigorous, a time for being exhausted; a time for being safe, a time for being in danger. The Master sees things as they are, without trying to control them. She lets them go their own way, and resides at the center of the circle. - Tao Te Ching Let us be silent that we may hear the whispers of the Gods. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Here's another by Poe:An Enigma "Seldom we find," says Solomon Don Dunce, "Half an idea in the profoundest sonnet. Through all the flimsy things we see at once As easily as through a Naples bonnet- Trash of all trash!- how can a lady don it? Yet heavier far than your Petrarchan stuff- Owl-downy nonsense that the faintest puff Twirls into trunk-paper the while you con it." And, veritably, Sol is right enough. The general tuckermanities are arrant Bubbles- ephemeral and so transparent- But this is, now- you may depend upon it- Stable, opaque, immortal- all by dint Of the dear names that he concealed within 't. Edgar Allan Poe Leaves fall softly on the lake Serenity ripples in their wake. One ripple, one beat upon my heart As laughter echoes in the dark. While children cry and mothers soothe And light reveals the morning's truth. As hope is cloaked in darkness' sorrow, So do I await tomorrow. TIMELESS ENIGMA by Phil Cerasoli Religion wages conflict With scientific mind. God and evolution Confused and intertwined. Did we first leave murky waters To crawl upon the sand Or breathe our first in Eden Underneath God's loving hand? Did we struggle through the centuries Just to face a mindless fate In a dark eternal vacuum That awaits beyond death's gate? Or does the trip have purpose? A time to grow and learn? A harbinger of afterlife Where joy and passion burn? These questions without answers Turn us, in a way, Into walking contradictions As we waver day to day. Wanting heaven's promise, Yet so afraid to die. And, in the end, it leaves us To sit and wonder why. Why is it, then, that we are here? Why must we scale this cliff? But no-one has the answers so We're left to wonder if That dark foreboding landmark Waiting 'round the final bend Marks the end of the beginning Or the beginning of the end.

Hey Silverstone I wanted to thank you for a warm welcome; you, Lialei, fayte.m for wonderful posts..it didn't let me.. I'll just say a big Thank You to all of you ...and be as short as I can lol. Here's something I wanted to post (hope it'll go through) I'd like to share one passage from one of my favourite writers, Albert Camus. I am very fond of his essays on nature and its beauty and wisdom; I hope you'll enjoy it, too. "The secret I am looking for is buried in a valley of olive trees, beneath the grass and cold violets, around an old house that smells of vines. For more than twenty years I have wandered over this valley, and over others like it, questioning dumb goatherds, knocking at the door of empty ruins. Sometimes, when the first star shines in a still, clear sky, beneath a rain of delicate light, I have thought that I knew. I did know, in fact. Perhaps I still know. But no one is interested in this secret, doubtless I myself do not desire it, and I cannot cut myself off from my own people. I live with my family, who believe they reign over rich and hideous cities, built of stones and mists. Day and night it raises its voice, and everything yields beneath it while it bows down to nothing: it is deaf to all secrets. Its power sustains me and yet bores me, and I come to be weary of its cries. But its unhappiness is my own, we are of the same blood. I too am sick, and am I not a noisy accomplice who has cried out among the stones? Thus I try to forget, I march through our cities of iron and fire, I smile bravely at the night, I welcome the storms, I will be faithful. In fact, I have forgotten: henceforth, I shall be deaf and active. But perhaps one day, when we are ready to die of ignorance and exhaustion, I shall be able to renounce our shrieking tombs, to go and lie down in the valley, under the unchanging light, and learn for one last time what I know. --Albert Camus, "The Return to Tipasa" (1953) Love xxx

Hi everyone of you wonderful people  Lia I hope you are better from last events, and that you'll relax for weekend and enjoy it as much as you can. I'm glad you liked the passage; it makes me cry cause everytime I read it I feel like I'm living where I don't belong (in a city); and I'm dreaming of rain on the grass, the sound of trees in the evening, the song of birds... This thread gives me a bit of that atmosphere; peace and contact with silence; thank you so much for being here with me. Silverstone, I'm so glad you liked it, too. Thank you for the wonderful quotes  I just remembered one quote from Oscar Wilde, which would be an answer on yours "I'll be back.." It goes "If you're not too long, we'll wait for you here all our life" Come back soon, your quotes and poems are wonderful. Fayte.m , I'm enjoying reading EVERYTHING you post..such a creative person you are ( I could live 100 more lives, and wouldn't come as close as you regarding ideas lol) Come back soon; the quote for Silverstone goes for you and Lia, too. Here's something nice;
"A Tear and a Smile" Kahlil Gibran chapter 22: Song of the Soul In the depth of my soul there is a wordless song A song that lives in the seed of my heart. It refuses to melt with ink on parchment; It engulfs my affection in a transparent cloak And flows but not upon my lips. How can I sigh it? I fear it may mingle with earthly ether; To whom shall I sing it? It dwells in the house of my soul, In fear of harsh ears. When I look into my inner eyes I see the shadow of its shadow; When I touch my fingertips I feel its vibrations. The deeds of my hands heed its presence as a lake must reflect the glittering stars; My tears reveal it, as bright drops of dew reveal the secret of a withering rose. It is a song composed by contemplation, And published by silence, And shunned by clamour, And folded by truth, And repeated by dreams, And understood by love, And hidden by awakening, And sung by the soul. It is the song of love; What Cain or Esau could sing it? It is more fragrant than jasmine; What voice could enslave it? It is heartbound, as a virgin's secret; What string could quiver it? Who dares unite the roar of the sea And the singing of the nightingale? Who dares compare the shrieking tempest To the sigh of an infant? Who dares speak aloud the words Intended for the heart to speak? What human dares sing in voice The song of God? Love to all and have a wonderful weekend xxx

“To thine own self be true…..”Most of us are familiar with the above quote taking from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, but how many of us know this verse: “And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou can not then be false to any man.” Unless we can be true to ourselves first, we cannot be true to others. To thine own self be true…..how profound. How many of us have a hard time being true to ourselves? Those of us that gave our life to another at the cost of loosing who we are in the process will have a hard time being true to ourselves. Allowing someone else to define who we are, we lose our ability to discover and grow inwardly. We no longer are able to discern a truth from a lie. For many of us, we have accepted lies for so long, that finding out what is true takes time. Having done this very thing, I know how difficult the journey to self-discovery can be. Truth….truth is a word that brings out such negative reactions to many of us. You see truth is really an action word. You cannot accept truth without change. Accepting truth about ourselves is difficult, especially to those of us who have been abused. But truth does set one free if we will allow it to; it is a crucial part of healing. It gives us the freedom to be who we are. We are able to come to terms with our weakness (without condemnation) and appreciate our strength. Truth gives strength; it naturally builds healthy boundaries. Truth is open; it is honest even at the risk of being vulnerable again. Truth is light and brings forth life. When we walk in truth, we walk in light and when we walk in light we live a healthy life. Truth is also love. The greatest act of love towards another is living a life that is truthful. For those of us who find it difficult to love ourselves, we will find it will come more easily when we walk in truth about who we are. If we walk in truth, we walk in perfect love, and if we walk in perfect love, then we do not walk in fear because perfect love cast out fear. Because we have been honest with ourselves, we are able to love ourselves with all of our imperfections, knowing that we are in “process” and therefore need not have others approval. This is freedom indeed. The second part of this verse is a natural occurrence if we hold true to the first part of the verse. So, when in doubt as to our motives of not being truthful with someone….look inside, are we being less than truthful to ourselves?
quote: ”This above all: to thine ownself be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.” -Shakespeare-Hamlet
Courtesy of LanThi and Dr. Irene Matiatos, Copyright© 2000. Origins Honest and for True by John Collins I saw an old Greek fellow wandering the streets the other evening holding a lantern out in front of himself, scanning the storefronts, alleyways, and passing cars. He looked kind of disappointed. I can't say as I blame him. I don't mean to be a Cynic, but I think Diogenes' task of finding an honest man was probably a lot easier in his day than it is in ours. In fact, dishonesty and deception are so pervasive in today's society that we've constructed entire lexicons of larcenous and libelous language for the everyday use of politicians, lawyers, and ex-football stars. As you've probably guessed, this issue's Origins focusses on honesty. This is apropos, actually, since the main purpose of the column is to help uncover the truth behind everyday sayings. Now, time to get to the Naked Truth. But what is Truth, really, and why is it naked. Well, Truth, it seems, is a tall, skinny fellow, slightly balding, with a protruding Adam's apple, very scholarly and, of course, modest and reserved, though occasionally a little self-righteous. One day, lo these many years agone, Truth and his rather slovenly counterpart, Falsehood, were strolling together through the woods (they were often together, as they are quite dependent on each other — what is the light of Truth, after all, without the darkness of Falsehood against which to compare it?). They were chatting amiably, as was their wont, though not paying much attention to each other: Truth: "Beauty is truth, truth beauty — that is all ye know on earth, and all ye need know." Falsehood: "Truth, sir, is a cow, which will yield people no more milk, and so they are gone to milk the bull." Truth: "If you do not tell the truth about yourself you cannot tell it about other people." Falsehood: "In matters of grave importance, style, not sincerity, is the vital thing." Their friendly discourse was interrupted by the appearance of a lovely lake (well, okay, the lake didn't actually appear, it was sort of already there and they just happened upon it). On a hot day such as the one on which we are visiting the companions, it was a welcome sight, and they both stripped naked — see where this is going now? — and jumped in. Truth was splashing pleasantly about enjoying the natural honesty of the little fishies when Falsehood challenged him to swim to the other side of the lake. As it wasn't all that far (and as Truth was, truth to tell, a tad gullible), Truth took the challenge and set off for the far shore. No sooner was he twenty yards away, however, than Falsehood splashed up to the beach and stole Truth's clothes for himself, since they were much finer than his old rags. When Truth got back from his little excursion, he saw Falsehood parading around on the shore in Truth's finery. When asked about his actions, Falsehood replied, "Since Truth is beauty, you don't need these nice clothes. You can wear mine." And with that, he walked off into the woods. Truth slogged out of the lake and looked down at the little pile of stained robes left by Falsehood. "I would rather," he announced to no one in particular, "walk naked than wear the raiments of Falsehood!" And henceforth, he walks the earth as Naked Truth. So, there it is, the unadulterated truth about Truth. Will reply to all later! Thank you! ------------------ ~Judgement Must Be Balanced With Compassion~ ~Do Not Seek Wealth From The Suffering, Or The Dire Needs Of Others~ ~Assumption Is The Bane Of Understanding~ }><}}}(*> <*){{{><{ ~~~ ~~ ~~~~ ~~~ ~~ ~~~~~ ~~~ ~~~~ ~~~
