Ok, Lotus, I tried to help you.... believe it or not, I wish you the best!

SUBJECT: William Blake on Truth....

Going forward,

quote:

I hang my harp
upon a tree,
A weeping willow in a lake;
I hang my silent harp there,
wrung and snapped
For a dream's sake.

I this lines, Lia! Very moving...

------------------
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year....
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep. ~Robert Frost

Pablo Neruda ~

Lost in the woods, I snapped off a dark branch

and, lifted its murmur, in thirst, to my lips:

perhaps the weeping voice of the rain,

a shattered bell, or a broken heart.

It came to me, something out of far distance,

deeply concealed, and hidden by Earth,

a cry, defeated by immense autumns,

by half-opened moistness of shadowy leaves.

But waking out of the wood’s dream there,

that hazel branch sang under my tongue,

and its vagrant perfume rose to my mind

as if suddenly roots I had long abandoned

searched me, the lost domains of childhood,

and held me, wounded by wandering fragrance.

In the wave-strike over unquiet stones

the brightness bursts and bears the rose

and the ring of water contracts to a cluster

to one drop of azure brine that falls.

O magnolia radiance breaking in spume,

magnetic voyager whose death flowers

and returns, eternal, to being and nothingness:

shattered brine, dazzling leap of the ocean.

Merged, you and I, my love, seal the silence

while the sea destroys its continual forms

collapses its turrets of wildness and whiteness,

because in the weft of those unseen garments

of headlong water, and perpetual sand

we bear the sole, relentless tenderness

~ Pablo Neruda

Spring came today.
Gazed upon my upturned face.
Lifted towards the heavens to worship Her.
I felt the warmth open up my Lotus Blossom.
Spring came to me yet again.
Though I feared it would not.
I clung to the hope like a bee on pollen.
The rays of the sun melted my iced soul.
Now I will bloom anew.

Love starts out slow, like the planting of a seed.
you must nurture and care,
for without Love will die.
Love must be given and received freely,
or it will not grow.
little by little Love gets stronger,
and soon can weather anything.
till the end,
when you reap the fruits
of what you plant.
then Love gives back.
something more precious to you
than you began with.
Love stays with you forever.

This is such a wonderful thread...

quote:

On Friendship
Kahlil Gibran

Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.

When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the "nay" in your own mind, nor do you withhold the "ay."
And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.
When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.

And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.

And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

I made the highlights above.
I particularly like these bits:
quote:
1.For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?

2.Seek him always with hours to live.

3.For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.

That illustrate well my take on it all. Especially #3.
When I tell a person they need not try to be all for me I mean it.
No one person can fill all our friendship needs.
When one thinks they must, or feels sad or guilty because they cannot be all to their friend(s) they are showing their insecurities which can lead to jealousy born of fear of loss.

I am not even every social thing to my own husband!
I am utterly delighted that he has friends other than myself to fill his friendship needs in areas I cannot or do not want to fill.
I have known folks who think if I do not reply immediately, or for awhile...that it has something to do with them.
It saddens me to have to repeat over and over to their sad cries of don't you love me anymore?
It drives me nuts to have to explain when anyone says things such as; why are you talking to so and so more than me?
Or...I thought you felt this,
I thought you were feeling that, instead of ASKING Me what I THOUGHT!
It is wrong for a friend to foist their own insecurities and their ways they would feel on a friend. Ask ME!
Their thoughts and assumptions are rarely what I am feeling, but instead a projection of their own inability to see that I do care about them, even though I have other friends.

I cannot fill anyone's emptiness.
It also makes me sad when any friend feels I must be buddies with their buddies.
I am glad they have other friends.
However, that is exactly it...their friends filling their own personal needs.
Can they not see that all their friends may not be right for me nor I for them?

OK...I am rambling.
But one more point to make....
I have a life....others have lives.....some days we get busy or do not feel up to writing especialy idle chit chat as Gibran indicated with:

quote:
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?

I want to hear from friends, but I would not take up your or my time going on about the mundanities of the every day just to be able to have something to say,
just to kill time.
Tell me of your feelings, your philosophies, what you are doing outside the mundane, tell me about a funny thing that happened, or even a hardship you are enduring.
My time is precious and so is yours.
I am not offended you are busy with your life and have no time to write. Or your needs at the time are better fulfilled by another instead of me.
Nor have I stopped being your friend when I am seen talking with others.
Some days my postings here at LL are the only up time I have in between laying in my bed in pain. That is often all the energy expenditures for the day I can muster.
Does it have to mean I do not care because I do not write to you, and you, and you. etcetera that day?
Many folks write me. I cannot always reply to all the same day or days.
I have a couple friends here and in my offline life who do not want me to feel obligated to write unless I am up to it. My sincere to thanks and love to them for understanding!
They also do not want to fall into the obligatory must write at all costs trap.
I love that independent mindset!

I am here to fulfill your needs, and you mine...we are not here to fulfill each other's emptiness!

In closing...If one feels their friend is ignoring them, ASK!
Never assume, and project your own fears upon them as to what YOU think they are feeling!

They are not you! ASK BEFORE ASSUMING!

If a friend says something that offends you..
Or hurts your feelings in some way, DO NOT SIT THERE BEING HURT OR ANGRY, brooding in silence....
ASK THEM IMMEDIATELY WHAT THEY MEANT...
OR WHY THEY SAID IT.
IF YOU DO NOT ASK,
YOUR FEELINGS OF ANGER OR HURT,
WILL BECOME A FESTERING SORE WITHIN YOUR HEART....
you will come to hate or mistrust or reject your friend. And thereby hurt your now former friend unjustly. A friend does not treat a real friendship in such a shallow manner.

Why are folks so afraid to just ask for better explanations? Why must they fall into a trap of the friendship killer by brooding in hurt or anger over something said instead of simply asking and
then talking?
Never assume you know even your friend's thoughts or emotions or what may be going on in their life.....ASK!

I had a falling out with a few friends...whom I did not know were closet alcoholics and or on meds even from their doctors, when they acted weird and and became suddenly out of character, and did not tell me why they had become so angry and easily offended over little nothings.
If I had known they had such problems it would have allowed me to understand them, and support them or pull back and given them time they needed. I would not have loved them less for admitting to an addiction and that they were in rehab or AAA trying to stop and were emotionally distraught. They never told me and when I asked they still not tell me why they were acting crazy. Try to be honest with your friends, and ask if you are unsure or projecting your own feelings. If you have a problem you wish to handle alone, tell your friend you need time and you will tell them later when your head is clearer.

Ok..rant over for now.
