SW... WOW I love the guitars on the wall. My daughter plays acoustic guitar and she would be so envious lol.

Xodian.. I'm a bit of a sucker for teddy bears. Slept with one every night as a kid and now I sleep with a squishy round neon green pillow lol. Sucks to admit that but I can't sleep a night without it.

the only one i dont like paying is the flying v. it slips around too much, don't like the fender squires either, why I own 2 I have no clue.

Sunshine_Lion:

That red guitar is largely my travel one. I had an old cheap Ovation, the one I decided to smash, then was stuck with an Ovation case in great shape with no "beater" guitar in my collection. That red model, the GC38, has been discontinued and was marked down in price, so I picked it up for $240 and for the money I'm pleased with it.

Nice picture of you and the Epiphone, I wish it were bigger so I could see some detail. I couldn't tell exactly what Epi model you're playing. Some Sheraton/Casino/Dot (ES-335) style. My buddy has an Epiphone Hummingbird and it's a really sweet guitar.

Epiphones are great, but I don't own any. The one guitar of mine you're referring to is a 1965 Harmony Meteor that I'm modifying (notice only one pickup and one volume knob). It plays superbly for being an old "budget" guitar; the neck is *perfectly* straight and the action is amazing, so I figure it's worth fixing up. I plan to take out that one pickup and putting a pair of Seymour Duncan "PhatCat" P-90's in it, actually called "PH-90's" as they fit into a Humbucker slot. Besides, I don't have any guitars with P-90 pickups yet.

That Harmony Meteor actually belonged to Ray Benson of the "western swing" band Asleep At The Wheel. Ray was born in Philly (my residence), and I inherited that guitar when a family friend died. He told me it was Ray's first guitar. I contacted either Ray Benson or a representative of his (no names were exchanged), and after a volley of e-mails, they confirmed that this guitar had indeed once been his.

The top row, from left:

-2001 Paul Reed Smith: McCarty Hollowbody II

-1996 Fender: American '62 Reissue Stratocaster

-1997 Fender: American Standard Stratocaster (I added EMG's David Gilmour Signature pickups with a pearloid pickguard)

-1996 Fender: American Standard Telecaster (I added Fender Texas Special Tele pickups)

Bottom row, from left. The acoustics-

-1985(?) Sigma 12-string (model unknown)

-1993 Martin J-40

-2007(?) Ovation GC38

Well our conference room comes close to it since it has that Libra-sonic touch to it Lol!

SW:

The Paul Reed looks so finished and smooth, I would have mistook it for your custom made model of Mc Carthy's little unit. What's your secret for keeping that thing gleeming like that?

And finally, a Harmony guitar and bass-

-1965 Harmony Meteor (semi-gutted, missing pickguard, and someone added the "?" on the headstock and began painting between the bridge and tailpiece long before I acquired it)

-1963 Harmony H22 bass (with the original 45-year-old flatwound strings!! Missing pickguard, replaced selector knob)

Xodian:

The McCarty simply has a high-gloss finish on "10 top" grade flamed maple. I've had that guitar for at least 5 years and might've polished it only once or twice.

Sunshine_Lion:

Yeah, those crazy Flying V's... each one should be sold with a complimentary strap, because they're impossible to play sitting down without putting a leg between the center of the V, but that is cumbersome and rather ridiculous. V's are a bit over-the-top for my style, but still very cool guitars.

Lexx:

Thank you for the Smilies references.

Only hijacking the thread momentarily.....scorpweb - MIne is a gibson semi hollow with pearl inlays, I wouldn't buy it until I felt worthy to own it. I love it above all others.
I have a charvel acoustic, several old acoustics, a couple of fender strat squires, that I don't much like, the ovation in green, (which I do like) , flying v, looks cool, but not so fun to play... a ephiphone solid body, (which I love..cherry burst) and a couple basses I picked up along the way. I woud like to learn bass, I mean I can play it a little, but would love to be a good bass player too. Man I would love toplay thiose old hollow and semi hollows you have, I bet they sound AWESOME! My fiance plays guitar and drums and has a ton of recording equipment, we record other bands and stuff sometimes. But between the two of us, we have quite the set up, light shows and you name it. tons of equipment and instruments, keyboard to bongos. It is fun. We make up songs all the time and play in a band together. We just start jamming some blues then one of us starts makuing up words and then willie, our lead guru guitar hero type grown stepchild, kicks in and BAM> cool stuff happens. DO you play in a band? come to my thread thing sometime and we can talk more, I hate hijacking the thread and all! I love your guitars! WIsh I play at your house and pick up that 1965? hollowbody, playing that would make my day! I really want to design and build my own, it is in my head, I want to do it in cherry wood possibly. One of these days I will do pics of my guitar shrine and you will see that we are quite possibly soulmates, (smile), I even colect guitar christmas ornaments, I have a semi hollow one of those too, took so long to find! Do you have any music anywhere I can check out? have a good one!
