actually dogs can understand up to 20 phrases...as far as following commands, thats a differnet story, lol ------------------ I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate? when organic is used to describe food then you know we have come to a dark age in history IP: Logged |

I've been taught it was the tone of voice they respond to, and that it just happens that we give a certain tone of voice to most if not all of the commands we give to a dog. There's just no way you can punish a dog for being bad with a smile on your face It does explain where my father is always going wrong (he's hardly stern) and why neither of my parents can get their dog to listen to them while he's meek as a lamb with me... Or maybe their dog is just a very stubborn Shiba Inu who has by now learned that no means no with me, but thinks he can still pull it off with his owners Anywayyy... Gestures really worked for my old dog. I didn't even have to talk to him to get him to do what I wanted. Of course, it helped that he was strongly attached to me, even though he was technically my parents' dog and I left him behind when I moved out on my own... I just had to snap my fingers and he would be there, point to the floor and he would sit. He obviously very quickly learned there was always a reward connected to the gesturing and the actions ------------------ [Insert catchy signature here.] IP: Logged |

yea, there was a study of it on the TV once and the more naturally smarter the dog the more phrases he or she can knowi actually had a lab/retriever mix and no matter how you said sit or lay down, whether stern or not she would still respond and my current dog actually knows her name...you could say it and she'll look right at you or you could tell her to go to a person, using that persons name, and she'll go to that person also, did you know sign language is technically a language in itself and not just gesters? ------------------ I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate? when organic is used to describe food then you know we have come to a dark age in history IP: Logged |

oh and my dog will go right to the window or the door if we say "who is it?" ------------------ I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate? when organic is used to describe food then you know we have come to a dark age in history IP: Logged |

So listen to your own advice first and then listen to others was the moral of that story.
Please be true says the Pisces lol. ------------------ Transit Saturn giveth and Transit Saturn taketh away... IP: Logged |

Quote from page 173 of Collins Zodiac typesPisces often taken in facts and ideas quickly and are often good at foreign languages. I quote from real life experiences and the text book too, Pisces is good at foreign languages but there may be afflictions in one individual preventing that.

Foreign Languages – For gaining skills in a foreign language an individual needs to have the following planets strong – Jupiter, Mercury and Ketu. Also the 1st house should be strong enough. http://www.astroknowlogy.com/questions/can-astrology-help-in-choosing-a-career IP: Logged |

Ketu...? i have a Stellium in Sagittarius 1st house including Mercury, and Jupiter opposing that. i'm not particularly good with languages... or i guess my laziness interferes. IP: Logged |
