I've seen this be brought up in a few threads and it started to derail, so I felt it should deserve its own topic. I'm also rather interested as I am a gay man. What aspects, signs, placements, etc. do you feel can drive someone to deviate from the "normal" heterosexual being that the majority of the population falls under? I firmly believe that sexuality is a continuum and that anyone can fall anywhere on the spectrum (i.e. the kinsey scale). Of course just because you have on particular aspect or sign or whatnot is not going to mean you will be straight, gay, bi, etc. Just an over all trend. Discuss. ------------------ It's All Elemental ----- My Chart if relevant IP: Logged |

Edited: I have Uranus & Pluto aspecting my Venus, Mars, Moon, and Juno. Uranus rules my 5th House. Pluto rules 3rd. As a teenager I was attracted to other girls. I explored that side once before my 20th birthday and decided it wasn't for me because something(s) was missing, and with Venus in Scorpio, it's "all or nothing."This was during and slightly after a Pluto transit (conjunction) to my Venus. So based on my experience, natal Uranus/Pluto will question/explore and tPluto determines. I wonder though if I would have questioned at all if I wasn't in conservative circles during that period, since Uranus is about breaking the norm. Like, my mum, who has Uranus as chart ruler/ruling planet, aspecting her Moon/Venus/Juno, grew up amidst a most unusual setup and she turned out to be "normal" by the standards set forth by society in general. Pluto doesn't form any aspects to her relationship planets but is in the 7th. Thanks for starting this thread. IP: Logged |

What you think, I believe, is correct. It is a continuum...I have seen desperate straight men consider sleeping with a tranny...and I have seen the other way around...and I Believe it is mostly nurture and nature in conjunction which determines this...different for everyone...One persons perversion is another person's ideal...where as we cannot judge unless someone is harming another against their own will.

Hmmm I find it very difficult to categorize myself. I have been in love only once and I am still with that man. That being said, I love being a woman and embracing my femininity, but I'd have no problem being a guy either. Should I suddenly become a man (with schlung w00t) on the spot, I'd have no problem making love with my boyfriend. Or if he decides to become a woman I'd had no problem with that either. Whether I'm a woman or a hypothetical bloke. I'm a Libra (Sun, Asc, Merc and Venus) and Scorpio Moon. His mind and soul is most important to me. IP: Logged |

Curious to where you were going with this. I actually rather like it. It wasn't an instant "oh my god I love this!" type of thing because the music style isn't totally my thing, but it's paralleled to a few genres I enjoy. I really really like the video for it though! I would called "sophisticated refined contrast". The video has this air of dark to it, but it's done in a playful sort of way. The style combines sophistication against two totally different styles and worlds, and brings them together. However, it doesn't blur the line, you can always see the separation. The music itself has this sense, but more of a line blurring to it. So yes, I do enjoy it quite a bit. It makes me feel "cool", and kinda makes me want to smoke, hah. ------------------ It's All Elemental ----- My Chart if relevant IP: Logged |

HAHA...my sentiments exactly. I really love this song...it gets me dancing all the time...I've even mastered the dance and did it during new years...at which point someone in teh background pointed to me and said, "bad ass" or so my sister said.I just love it. I have venus conjunct mars...what about you? I'm trying to figure out why i'm so obsessed with it, but i'm also trying to see if you like it too, just out of curiousity...I think it breakds down gender lines in a way...in a very refined and subtle way.

I think having either Venus or Mars in close aspect to a transpersonal planet: Uranus/Neptune/Pluto... can make one very different when it comes to sexuality. But there are many ways in which a person can go against the grain... so those aspects don't necessarily indicate homosexuality. Also, when I say 'go against the grain'... I don't mean to imply that it is a conscious choice or decision. They quite naturally end up going against the grain purely in virtue of being *themselves*. IP: Logged |

I have a gemini stellium (taurus sun) in the 8th house with mercury venus and jupiter. Also have mars in cancer. That I think might be the signifier to me being gay. Seeing that gemini seems to rule blurring sexuality lines. It's in my 8th house which rules sexuality, and my mars in cancer which is about as feminine and unfavorable as you can get for mars. quote: Originally posted by Chironrising: I have venus conjunct mars...what about you? My venus and mars semisextile, that's it. I have a particular taste in music and that just managed to tap into it. I was thinking on starting a thread about music prefrence and signs, but I need to do one thing at a time . Well, homosexuality , when it comes down to it, is almost an entirely physical preference. I had a Capricorn friend in college who was gay because she found the penis to be disgusting and women's bodies to be much more beautiful. With that said, she's actually dating a man now and we've drifted apart so I'm not quite sure what happened... She did once kiss a male friend for fun then suddenly fell in love with him because of it.... so who knows.Point is, if we are to look at this astrologically, I guess it would only be logical to look at the planets that rule our sexual preferences and what aspects would foster a preference for one own's gender. Venus and Mars. They manifest differently between men and women. We should also look to the 8th house since that is the house of sexuality. So there's a start. Will write more later. IP: Logged |

It's starting to sound like Pluto/8th House is a factor.Anyone else experiment/question their orientation a lot during a Pluto transit to natal Venus? IP: Logged |

Hmm... I have an empty 8th. Ruler of the 8th is my Virgo Moon in the 9th. Venus and Mars do not make an aspect with each other. Mars in Cancer (7th) is conjunct Sun, trine Pluto and opposite Neptune. Taurus Venus (5th) is square Jupiter, opposite Saturn, trine Moon, sextile Mercury, quincunx Uranus and exact conj NN.To Betty Boop's point about going against the grain -- I definitely don't fit the stereotype for gay male promiscuity. It's been more than a year since I've gotten any, and before that it has always been few and far between. I've never had a use for those sites and apps like grindr and manhunt. At the same time, it's not necessarily because I think it's wrong for people to get their jollies frequently, I just need some sort of connection/see a potential for relationship. I consider myself bisexual. Sex is sex, beauty is beauty, I don't like to discriminate. I've discussed this on other boards and I've realized that a strong Scorpio influence or an active 8th house could be an influence on sexual orientation. In my case, it is. Not only do I have a Moon, Midheaven, and Pluto conjunct in Scorpio, but my Mercury, Venus, and Mars are all in the 8th. Scorpio/8th house energy is about the taboo, the exotic, delving into the forbidden. Bisexuality or homosexuality can fall into those categories. I honestly don't fully appreciate sex that's too 'normal'. (Even though normal is a subjective concept) I'll still be turned on, but to a much lesser degree than engaging in something that's, shall we say, spicy. Something interesting I've noticed is how many people with a strong Taurus influence are so straight-laced sexually. Sure, they are deeply sensual and love sex but they are also very 'vanilla'. Virgo gets the reputation as the straightlaced sign sexually, but I think Taurus is more conservative actually. Which makes sense because it's Scorpio's opposite. IP: Logged |

My Pluto isn't heavily aspected--just the conjunct with Venus and trine with Jupiter, and a sextile with Neptune in the 2nd. Not sure about transits, but I do have some 8th house stuff going on as well as Venus and Pluto.
I've seen your chart too.

Also, for the people with the strong Scorpio/8th house influence, do you find yourself having an unusual effect on others sexually? Like you get unwarranted attention or many people of the same sex, who normally profess to be heterosexual, seem really into you? It might sound conceited but it's true for me. It's kind of like I bring out 'the forbidden' in them. I've made more than a few 'straight' guys question themselves. IP: Logged | |
