I tended to always look at that book as very amateur, which may be why it's so popular -- for the laymen. I even recall Taylor Swift revealing it to be one of her favorite books.

I resonate much more with the decanate system, as SaggiMC proposed. My decan is Sag/Leo which is WAY more descriptive of my personality.

My mom is a Sagittarius. She's awesome. She had a troubled relationship with her own parents - I think the Sagittarian qualities of adventurousness and philosophy really saved her. Adventurousness because she got the hell out from under her parents' thumb at a young age, and philosophy because she was able to look back and figure out what she did and didn't want to repeat. She really broke the cycle in a lot of ways.

Are you not psychic, like the Sag-Cap Cusp people tend to be?

Have you never felt a psychic link with someone born around that cusp?

You actually seem pretty "Cap" to me, as your comment is a bit elitist. And according to the book, you and I are expected to ram heads a bit ("Battling for Ascendency" being the name of the relationship)

I would still recommend the book despite Taylor Swift (AND Adam Lambert ) enjoying it.

So, for me, it was mixed: some good points, some not as much.

Also found that the signs that they say people are attracted to didn't make sense in some cases.

However, I can see the idea behind decans. Decans do make sense to me.

Agreed...some of the relationship suggestions don't make sense...then again, in practice, they have generally fit for me.

I like the conservative, dull and boring ... Your words... Not mine... Of Sagittarius. Most of what you list as a negative is positive to me. So, I have the contrarian view.

IT may sound odd, since I have Everything in Leo..

But I dont like Sag men in a romantic way..
I dont like the way they "try" to talk to me...

Way to blunt... Sag men walk up to me and say things like.. HEY wanna F>>>>>>>
What really is that suppose to work??

No romance at all..

My Leo/Pisces needs romance and a story behind it....

As friends its cool, but I dont date them..
Well I did date one Sag... LOL.. But he is very CAP.. Workaholic etc.

Obviously your birth date is COMPLETELY wrong and needs to be recalculated.

Lol, I'm kidding. While the Secret Language of Birth Dates rings true for me, I do think the decans system applies to me as well. I'm in the 3rd, which is very Leonine as I understand. It pretty much describes me as well!

First and foremost, I believe you are a BEAUTIFUL writer!

I agree with the thing about being around fellow Sags--it is a riot, and we so feed off of each other.

Imagine going to eat with like 3, or being in a room with like 8 Sags of varying ages but equal in hilarity. I've had the luxury recently and it has been with some of the most intelligent, spiritual, awkward, clumsy, hilarious and obnoxious people on earth. I mean, we get each other [and everyone else] when no one else does and burst into spontaneous laughter regularly.

How we all ended up together is beyond me. Just a GREAT time full of sincerity, warmth, genuine affection and double entendres, haha! We barely notice all the glares from across the room!

I definitely appreciate Saggie energy, but I often feel like I need to deal with it in small doses. I love my Saggie friends, but if they've got a Sag Mercury, my Cancer Mercury just needs a breather after too long. I'm also a Sag rising, so I don't know if other people's Sag planets falling in my 12th has anything to do with it.

Thanks for the kind complement. And yes, there really is no feeling comparable to the vibe when a crap-ton of Sagittarians get together. It feels like social freedom. Many bystanders are left in disbelief as a stampede of whinnying, skipping, snorting, and kicking people energetically take over a room for a few hours, then all scatter in random directions to their individual pastures. I wonder if the flash-mob is a Sagittarian concept? God, I can't imagine being around 8 of us. I think the most I have been conscious of has been 4.

Saggies make me smile, make me laugh, dont wear on me in a fire kind of way like Aries and definately not like Leos do.

I want to be a Saggie when I grow up!

There are many Sagittarian entertainers I admire, for example Flo Rida is a current favourite. His positivity is amazing and very encouraging.
However in real life in other fields I prefer the other fire signs (except someone with too much Aries) or some of the other signs. Some Sag have behaved in a shallow way and they often argue with other fire signs, I even looked into it and found sun in sag is good but mars in sag was where the opinionated attitude was coming from. I get on well with Sag sun sign men provided they don't have a stellium in that sign and Sag women is hit and miss. Love Amy Winehouse again love the celebs; but in real life yet to find one I admire.

Apologies for not posting sooner, been busy at work.
Yes Amy Winehouse has sagittarius placements.
I tend to look at the different placements and what they mean
ie sun in sag = I love
mars in sag = I avoid
mercury in sag = bit blunt but at least not restrictive
venus in sag = good as a friend
moon in sag - freedom loving, doesn't see cancer astrology related issues etc
Now i know all sag placements are supposed to like freedom but from what I have read and experienced there are patterns to the sign placements that can hold true for me. It may not hold true for someone else.
I quite like jay z too who is a sun sag.
Admire sag entertainers, they excel in entertainment.

Being a Sag myself, meeting up with other Sag's can be a "hit" or "miss".

I do,however, think that the Moon and other personal planets(moon, venus, mars) have more to do with me getting on with them or not.

I've met a Sag with an exact birthday as mine. Our connection is lukewarm. I suspect that its Scorpio-Scorpio venus that is not connecting us; the connection between these two signs can be all or nothing. Intensity or indifference.

To us,its not entirely indifference, but it does feel like we are "holding back".

As far as other placements are concerned:

The Sag-Jupiter conjunct can be very self-righteous.

The Mars in Sag can also be moralistic and preachy(thinking that they are always right).

A Sag with a Leo Jupiter can be a nightmare i.m.o.

I am not too fond of many Sag's though; they just seem silly at times. But I must add that a nice water mix in the personal planets esp. Pisces can make them more appealing to me.

Had an intense affair with a Sag-Pisces moon which was heavenly. His moon trined mine exactly, his venus formed a conjunction with my mars and his mars formed a conjunction with my Asc(wide). It was hot.

I have a lot of Sag close friends. But people say that our friendships areastrange. We can go for months without seeing/talking to each other, but when we do reconnect, its as if we were never apart.

Instead of saying
What on earth does that mean
try saying would you explain or please tell me, it comes off as RUDE. On this occasion will give you benefit of doubt and the info you need is below, next time I will not.

Moon in Sagittarius

Because the Moon is in aversion to its own domicile while being in this zoidion, it cannot see issues related to domesticity, the home and emotion very well. For this reason, these natives are considered to be restless at heart and have a hard time settling down in one place. Jupiter as lord of the Moon, encourages broader range of experience than what the Moon is used to. As a result, there are likely to be more emotional highs and lows for this person than usual. It is an indication of life on an emotional roller-coaster. The Moon is naturally more timid, but while in this sign, it usually indicates one who is outgoing and friendly. Sometimes they lack reserve, and because of the Moon's aversion to its own domicile, these natives may say something without seeing before hand what impact it may have on another's feelings. They usually feel they need more freedom than most and often have a hard time finding where they belong until their later years. This may create a fondness for the outdoors and nature. The Moon here may also indicate a single-minded attachment to dogmatic philosophical ideals or religious principles.

mars in sag from the same site quoted above

They need to watch a tendency to bully or intimidate others. They may have a lack of respect for others which could cause a groundswell of opposition that the native will eventually have to contend with.

12. Vettius Valens, The Anthology, Book 1, pg 14. Translated by Robert Schmidt.

"Those so born are good, just, great-souled, critical, generous, fond of brothers and friends, those who diminish what they first acquired but acquire them again, those who prevail over enemies, lovers of reputation, versatile, notable, those who weave matters in a riddling fasion."

My opinion is that this there is good to be found in sagittarians, just as there is in any sign, there are positives and negatives.
