I know two people who are Virgo ascendants (that I'm sure about because I have their birth times, anyway; I'm sure that I know more, but only have times for two). Both of them are highly critical about their looks and of themselves in general.

I know a third person who has a Virgo Venus (I suspect she has an Aries ascendant, though I don't have her birth time; if not Aries, Sagittarius would be my next guess). She, too, is highly critical of her looks, though she really has no reason to be.

My paternal grandmother had several planets in Virgo (she was likely a Virgo, though possibly a Leo; I don't have her birth time, and the sun changed signs that day), and she also was very self-critical about her looks, though she also took care to look nice well into her later years.

All of them are women, by the way, and a lot of women are self-critical about their bodies in one way or another. However, with the Virgos/Virgo-influenced, it seems much more pronounced.

One man whom I know with a Virgo south node is also critical of his appearance and mocks himself at times, which is really sad. He does it in a joking way, but part of me gets this strong feeling that he's not always kidding--he can be a bit vicious about himself at times.

I get told that I look unapproachable, snobby, mean, and "cold" sometimes. However, sometimes this is deliberate on my part, to keep nasty people away from me, or when I want to be left alone. Other times, though, it makes no sense, because to me, I look neutral. I guess if you don't smile a lot, people think that you're mad? That makes no sense. To me, neutral is neutral. Go figure. Catherine Deneuve (another Libra) is often described as an "ice queen"/as "cold", but to me, she doesn't seem that way offscreen. Her characters, OK, I can see it, but I don't know...I pick up on her Leo moon. She has a Cappie ascendant.

I think that too often, people think that "reserved" equals "mean" or "heartless", when it really equals "shy", "reserved", or "cautious" or "taking my time to get to know you". I don't get why people feel like people have to be bubbly all the time or smiling constantly to be "nice". Some of the smiley types are superficial, back-stabby, or just otherwise not what they seem.

I agree to some extent with "athenegoddess" and the article ...
Strong placement would make a better and stronger impact on the person ( not meaning that weak placement won't affect you at all )

But I would say Mars in Aries, then in Scorpio ( since its co-ruler) then in Masculine signs ...

And then again ASC in Libra, ASC in Taurus and then in the air signs ...
ASC in any sign will give you beauty ! but I noticed people with ASC in air signs will have exotic beauty , not casual or usual and mostly striking....
ASC in taurus or earth signs will give you classical beauty

again I agree with someone here who said that it's too general to be taken into consideration. And there are also some aspects in your chart that can give you lots of beauty and attractiveness ...

Anyway I would say that your genes is what makes you beautiful , the aspects or well-placed planets only will add the topping

Again maybe you might not be attractive or even near but a positive aspects with someone can make you the prettiest and most appealing person to them ...

I want to add this : the article here talks mostly about your sexual appeal and not your beauty ... I have all these four planets well placed and I was called " attractive, sexy , appealing " more than beautiful

My other sisters have their ASC in feminine signs and always called beautiful or cute ( but rarely sexy )

Masculine ASC makes you glow and thus appear appealing ... and Feminine ASC makes you shy mysterious and thus gives you beauty

again, again, again, your genes is what determines what you look like

You are right, reserved is the perfect word for it and it doesn't equal mean, evil, snobby, heartless or cold. A girl I know for instance, when she greets people, she would jump all over them, hug them, kiss them, even to people she barely knows. In contrast, I'm much more calm and definitely more careful towards strangers. We just like to take our time to get to know someone, nothing wrong with that!

I knew a girl like that who was super-bubbly. Used to freak me out. I kept wondering: "what's her dark side like?" She wasn't mean, but I couldn't help but wonder why she made such a strong attempt to be friendly and outgoing. She was American, but went beyond the ideal of bubbly, outgoing, "friendly". She was super-extrovert, personified. A bit unsettling.

I'm very careful towards strangers. My trust is not easily earned: even if I give the impression of trust, I seldom, if ever, trust another person entirely, not even family. I am suspicious of people and generally my view of people is cynical. I still can't wrap my head around people who are easily trusting and who never question anyone's motives. While I do try to see the good in people whom I've had the chance to know (though I still never trust them completely), with strangers, I have the "guilty until proven innocent" mentality.
