In my opinion, the Moon in Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces are the most powerful placements for the Moon. I believe it's because the planet of emotion is in the element of emotion, giving the Moon's expression an extra strength. From my observations, Water Moons tend to be stronger examples of their sign's energy than the Water Suns.

Cancer Moons tend to be more domestic than Cancer Suns, moodier and more emotionally driven, and more into the nurturing parts of relationships. Everyone I've met is extremely family oriented and unusually close with Mom.

Most of the Scorpio Moons I know, including myself, have darker interests than Scorpio Suns and are a bit more courageous and avid in regards to delving into their own dark side and psyche. It's also hard to find a truly naive Scorpio Moon, even the ones with Aries or Leo influences.

And it's very difficult to find a Pisces Moon who isn't extremely creative, forgiving, and empathetic, as well as a bit spacey and offbeat, whereas Pisces Suns are often a bit more practical and less easily moved.

I know many people will say the Sun is the strongest expression, since the Sun is the sense of self, but Water has no sense of self; it's totally fluid. So, it'd make sense to me to believe that Water signs are much more easily expressed in the changeable Moon than the Sun.

Any thoughts on this?

well, what you are getting it ais more of a fact than an opinion, *in my opinion*.

if sun or mars are in fire signs, or air signs, they are stronger.

if moon is in water signs, it is stronger.

not meaning the moon is 'better' but it means that the moon is stronger in the persons chart.

so for example.. a water moon is probably more intune with their own feelings, is more sensitive to their own moods, etc.

Well yea. The Sun does best in Leo or Aries. The Moon does best in Cancer or Taurus.
This is from traditional astrology.
Cancer Moons I know are seriously batty.
I don't see that as something to be admired.

Yeah, exactly. I'm not saying the Moon is BETTER in Water. I actually think that terms like 'fallen' and 'detrimental' are really negative and judgmental. No placement should be seen as 'bad' or worse than another.

But, like you said, some are stronger and easier to express than others. So Water Moons will feel and express that side of themselves very strongly.

Yeah Cancer Moon also manifests very differently depending on whether the person is open to releasing the more emotional side and nurturing side. And its not the best placement for men.

But I agree with Pisces Moon and being offbeat. I'm very spacey and definitely go with the flow more so then a typical Leo Sun. But I think that I've started to disconnect from my more emotional and intuitive side because it makes me to prone to taking in other people's bad energy and it can be very depleting more emotionally and physically especially if you work with the public in general.

I also need a lot of alone time, this something that is usually not mentioned with Pisces Moon.

Planet Queen,

what aspects does your moon make and what house is it in? are you sure your moon is the reason why you have alone time?

Only Cancer Moon is considered exalted btw. And Scorpio Moon is actually considered detriment as a Moon sign traditionally Scorpio was ruled by Mars and a masculine sign.

My Moon is in the 3rd H square Jupiter, sextile Neptune and trine Pluto. I know two other Pisces Mooners that prefer lots of alone time far more than me in fact.

there could be other factors than the pisces moon for them.

but you see, jupiter square moon in the 3rd house, reminds me of my 9th house moon (opposite 3rd) that also squares jupiter).

if i were looking at your chart, these factors would suggest your needs for space a bit more than your moon sign.

a good way to really figure it out, is to look into your subconscious, figure out why you need space, look into it deeply, do the answers match pisces related themes, or 3rd house/jupiter etc themes?

take care x

I love having a Cancer Moon. It feels right. It feels at peace. It feels warm and tender. I like it.I can feel as if it is where it should be. Cancer Mars, on the other hand , feels gawky like a teenager at his first dance, scared to death to ask a girl to dance. I have profound respect for the exalatation, domicile and the fall. These actually work or do not work, accordingly.

Well, I think I've tooted my Moon in Scorpio horn enough around here, ha ha, especially my opinion that this isn't such a negative placement, so I won't go there now.

But, I will ask: Do you think the traditional interpretation of "a man projecting his Moon" works for men with their Moon in a Water sign? Because I think men with Water Moons tend to be more connected to their feminine side and their Moon energy than the average man, even though it might make us feel 'different' or ostracized.

And Planet Queen, so you're not only a Leo Sun (my Solar placement) but a Pisces Moon? (which happens to be one of my favorite placements ever) I knew there was something I liked about you!

I noticed same thing. The Cancer moon women I've met are moodier, brooding than Cancer Suns. cancer moons are more emotional.

The scorpio suns and moons the same as well. the scorpio moon is darker and more suspicious to me than the scorp suns. i am more comfortable with scorpio suns.

these are from experience with them.

Oh thanks! If you don't mind me picking your brain, why do you like Pisces Moon?

I've only been romantically involved with a fellow Pisces Moon once, he was a Gemini Sun/ ASC. too much mutable going on and he was a little bit crazy. But that is only one bad case.

I also know and am very close to a Pisces Sun/ Moon, a Aries Sun/Pisces moon and my favorite was a Taurus Sun/ Pisces Moon. We had the same exact sense of humor, it was refreshing and I was oddly attracted to her even though I'm straight.

Do you think water moons are most compatible with fellow water moons?

I speculate that house placement effects water moons far more than other lunar signs. I have Pisces Moon in 3 H, I always get along well with air sign moons. But as far as water moons I'm most compatible with Scorpio moon.

I just Moon in Pisces is really cool. I love their compassion, sweetness, spirituality, and creativity. There is just this air about Moon in Pisces that's sort of flower child; peace, soulfulness, and universal love. I also love their sense of humor.

I think Water Moons get along very well, mostly because we get each other on a deeply intuitive level. It's like a psychic connection occurs and there's little need for words. If both parties are too moody, defensive, or needy, things can get a little messy. But, otherwise, it's usually a very harmonious match.

Yes, you are right 89freespirit. Water moons represent the water signs/element better.

All your discriptions are so very accurate as well. Coming from a Cancer Moon

I coudlnt agree more on the Pisces Moon. It is hands down my favorite placement. It is very hard for me to compare a Pisces Sun person with a Pisces Moon person. Pisces Moons are the real astrological discription of "Pisces." They are like angels that are here to heal.

They also get taken advantage of a lot, yet will still have unconditional loving feelings for someone. Most people give up where as a Pisces Mooner will always be there. Some my friends just think I give people too many exceptions, but that is not the case. I cannot let go of my fondness for someone.

And this is a totally different attitude then my Pisces Sun/ Aqua Moon friend. She cannot understand the deep and intense feelings I have for people. She likes or doesn't like. There are no layers. I don't understand it.

I like taylor swift and she's a cancer moon!! i have scorpio moon. I'm not sure if i see much of my moon in me. I'm not good at being sympathetic/empathetic outwardly. Not good at expressing my emotions. I tend to avoid them so people won't notice. Is that a trait?

I would think it would have to do with individual charts and the weight of the modalities and elements.

I have Sun in Aries with a Cancer moon. Strong Sun and Moon. However I have a very strong Mars in Capricorn in the 8th PLUS another 3 earth planets. Sun in the 11th is weakened. Moon in the second/third - may also be a strong position in the second. Cardinal strong in my chart with 4 planets. Earth 4 planets, Fire 3 planets, Water 2 planets and 1 air Planet. Astrological signature is either a Capricorn or if I throw in my Rising sign - Virgo.

I think the Capricorn influence outweighs my Cancer moon. Though I still feel deeply. I think the 8th house Mars in Cappy drives me and I feel it stronger than my moon. I am practical and Spock like ( Aqua MC).

When I was younger, my 4th house south node tied into the Cancer energy and family was the most important in my life......now, in middle life I am moving to my 10 house North node in Aqua and seeking family outside of my roots......Not to mention now, I have progressed Sun conj my natal Saturn and I think that would amplify the Cappy influence.

My 2 cents
