I think our sun sign is poorly understood.

In an effort to assemble some kind of "proof" of what we are really like, I created this survey, which will hopefully highlight some lesser-known truths about us. If you have any additional questions you want me to add, let me know, and I will edit them in!

Here goes:

1. What is your opinion of typical descriptions of the Capricorn personality? Does it describe you well?

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being "extremely important," how important do you think regular schooling is?

3. Did you learn about what you were really interested in, in school?

4. In your opinion, do Capricorns tend to be very interested in metaphysical studies?

5. If you answered "yes" above, do you think our interest in metaphysics is downplayed or ignored in most astrology books?

6. Are you a hard worker?

7. Be honest...do you use people to get ahead in life? If so, how? If not, does it annoy you to be accused of using people?

8. Are you consistently there for your loved ones, even when you have to make great sacrifices to do so?

9. In your opinion, is Capricorn more or less artistic than other signs?

10. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most sentimental, how sentimental are you?

11. What is the one thing about Capricorns that you wish other people would realize?

Thanks for your time!

Because I'm not a true Capricorn, just my MC, Venus and Mercury are. I can tell you what it does for me. On my 10th I was the best worker and my employers loved me. I worked hard and didn't stop until the job was complete. I am a serious person most of the time although I do like to have fun. If I was an employer I would hire a Capricorn because they have good work ethics.

Like the goat it represents they climb higher and get to the top.

I'd answer the questions but since I"m not a true capricorn I'll let Capricorn Sun people answer.

Thanks for chiming in, though! Some Cap Mercury people seem more Capricorn to me than Cap suns with other Mercury signs, especially over the internet.

1. What is your opinion of typical descriptions of the Capricorn personality? Does it describe you well?

A. They're usually poorly aligned with the negative traits and largely based on misconceptions that surround our ruler, Saturn. Usually, they do not describe us well.

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being "extremely important," how important do you think regular schooling is?

A. 7 - basic schooling, lower academics, depending on region and time period, provide a decent base to prepare for life, but function better as introductions to social interaction more than actual intellectual pursuits these days in most areas. Otherwise, higher academic forums and specialized classes as well as elective classes are more beneficial to students, especially, I would say, for Capricorns.

3. Did you learn about what you were really interested in, in school?

A. Some of the things, yes. But, again, it depends on your school and what they provided. I was fortunate to have attended a school which offered classes in areas I had specific interest in. Today most of those classes have been discontinued due to funding and interest.

4. In your opinion, do Capricorns tend to be very interested in metaphysical studies?

A. I would say our sign is distinctly divided, about half the Capricorns in my own acquaintance are intrigued or deeply involved in pursuits of metaphysics, spiritual, and paranormal. Another half are more ambiguous. Noticeably, most of both sides look at overall metaphysical studies from the skeptic perspective first. That seems to be the central view we share. First questioning, who, what, where, when, why, how... how useful, how plausible, being a common starting point.

5. If you answered "yes" above, do you think our interest in metaphysics is downplayed or ignored in most astrology books?

A. Unfortunately yes, like many areas Capricorns excel in, the popular vote always attaches us with physical gains, ambitions. And, seem to love relating us with only material goals... completely devaluing our interest in creative pursuits, though they will say we're cardinal at the same time, it always strikes me as odd, when I look at our cardinal siblings who are each seen as having creative outlets for expression of their interests. Aries - athletics, strategy, Libra - beauty, industry Cancer - arts, comfort
(etc)

6. Are you a hard worker?

A. Without a doubt, responsibility - is one thing they get right with interpretations of Capricorn, though I think we have phases, and like others...it depends on our interest in that career/responsibility specifically at that time. ^^;

7. Be honest...do you use people to get ahead in life? If so, how? If not, does it annoy you to be accused of using people?

A. Not exactly. It irritates me to see squandering of talent and skill, if someone has a strength they are not using, I feel the need the desire to help them use it to their advantage which in turn may be advantageous for me as well. But, I don't use or exploit them, I value them sometimes more than they seem to value themselves, and want us both to succeed... if I can help it, I see that we do. It's my liking, if you can make something function more efficiently - why wouldn't you? I never take more than I feel I deserve, even when it is offered, and always give credit where it is due... it is no skin off my nose to let someone else take credit if they did something more or better, and it doesn't hurt me any to play a supportive, quiet role, I do not need recognition to succeed, I just need structure and efficiency, from myself and those around me. See an obstacle, negotiate or find another solution... tenacity, perseverance... the rest is just a matter of time and elbow grease. ^^;

8. Are you consistently there for your loved ones, even when you have to make great sacrifices to do so?

A. Absolutely, my loved ones are everything to me, providing for them, supporting them, it's the least I can do with all they do/have done for me.

9. In your opinion, is Capricorn more or less artistic than other signs?

We're usually gifted with some artistic talent, like I said earlier... creative pursuits... January holds the star Vega, of the Lyra constellation. In some astrological fields this is viewed as why Capricorns have a discerning eye or hand for the arts. Our ruler led to the birth of Venus, beauty - as per mythology. With his fallen image in modern astrology and our own sign pigeon-holed as the stiff, strict, tyrant - the creative force of Saturn and Capricorn, (alos associated with Satyrs, Pan), is more often not given any credit for artistic endeavors, though sometimes an astrologer may define us having some "social showoff" need to possessing art of others. It is not uncommon for a Capricorn to have an appreciation for fine art, but we can also be profoundly artistic, especially musically, all on our own.

10. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most sentimental, how sentimental are you?

A. 5 - moderate (on most days)

11. What is the one thing about Capricorns that you wish other people would realize?

Janus was only two faced because he was guarding the doorway to time, Saturn was only a tyrant because he was protecting the golden age world and was honoured for centuries as lord of this time in human history by Greeks and Romans alike and he has much to do with love and beauty, that he is not the god of death in Roman or Greek mythology but age, order, time, and agriculture (budding, sowing, harvesting, withering of crops - life stages) - that Capricorns are not all materialistic, rigid, high brow, elitists, who would throw their own mother under the bus just to get ahead. That a little bit of actual study of where our signs, rulers, and constellations come from in Western astrology, can go a long way in dispelling these often incorrect traits given to all of our signs.

When you think of Capricorn, think of Amalthea, her symbol the conch shell - learn its many meanings, think of Pan and the satyrs, think of the "golden age" of deathless mortals who lived in harmony, think of Orpheus, son of Kalliope - gifted musician, mentor, and hero, think of the birth of Venus, and remember we're not just goats... but SEAgoats. And, remember Saturn /Kronos was not his father (Uranus), he was misled by fear like him and even Zeus/Jupiter is guilty of the same mistake, and his own children forgave him, and that he was celebrated by the people who gave us his rule.

Capricorns are a lot more than those general sun sign reports would suggest - and sadly more than many supposed professional astrology experts suggest, and sadder still, even realize.

- Sorry so long, Faith~ ^^;

(5h Capricorn Sun, 4h Mercury; Saturn in Scorpio 3h)

-
ps - the most Capricorn characteristics in my opinion, fall to those with exalt Mars, Moon, and Sun placement within the sign, but all of this depends on the condition and placement of their Saturn, as well - so Saturnian and 10th housers can be strongly alike, even when their placements are not obviously Capricornian. ~ imho! ^^ <3

Ok let's see if i can answer your questions

1. I have always been a bit confused by typical descriptions of my sign. There are obviously so many other things going on in people's charts that would render the things that are typically described as "capricorn" irrelevant. For instance, we are always described as being conservative and overly concerned with appearances and social status but I'm none of those things. I care about my career but I would never choose my partner based on how big his bank account is of how influential of a person he is. We aren't that shallow!

2. I think education is extremely important but I don't think it necessarily matters how you go about it. If you read a lot and study the topics that you are passionate about on a daily basis you may very well be more knowledgable than someone who went to college to study the same things. If you want to move ahead in life though, having a degree can't hurt and is important in other people's eyes. There are simply some jobs you can't have access to without a degree.

3. I have always had problems with school. I never felt as though I was learning enough or being challenged enough. I have very low tolerance for teachers who are nonchalant wih their students and who waste class time talking about things that are off topic. If I ever become a teacher I am going to be a good one! I feel like I am better at teaching myself things and then seeking out help from my mentors and teachers on my own when I am stuck wih something.

4. I know that I feel as though I can sense paranormal activity and have before. It frightens me but also fascinates me. My mother was also a capricorn and was very interested in ghosts, life after death, etc but I think a lot of people are. I don't think it's something that is characteristic of mostly capricorns.

5. Astrology books seem to all have us down as being very conservative and never thinking outside the box but I don't think that's necessarily true.

6. I am a vey hard worker and ambitious!! Yes, at least they've got that right

7. I detest the thought of using others to get ahead. I only do so if I have asked their permission to use them as a reference. I hate users, false friends, and fake people and I intend on never becoming one of them!!!!

8. I feel like I always try to be there for my friends and family but not at the expense of my own health. If I am not taking care if myself then my ability to be of service to others will naturally be limited. Take care of your health, your happiness and the people around you will be happier too

9. I know for myself I am very artistic! I am an aspiring singer/guitarist. I also like to paint and have no control over my imagination which makes it so that I can't sleep at night.

10. I am secretly vey sentimental I just am embarrassed to show it in public and with people who I don't know very well. I also have a Leo moon though. I am an extremely affectionate girlfriend, just in private and you have to earn my trust first.

11. I wish other people would realize how sensitive we are! We are also fairly insecure people and need encouragement and compliments but then that could just be my leo moon

Hope that helps!

1. What is your opinion of typical descriptions of the Capricorn personality? Does it describe you well?

I find the typical descriptions to be negative, bland, and simplistic. Some traits I fit, others I don't. I'm shy/quiet/reserved, determined, loyal, and there are times when I become gloomy. I can also be quite stubborn. However, I am not particularly conservative nor cold, and I don't aspire to lead anyone but myself. I shy away from leadership but I am willing to give others suggestions.

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being "extremely important," how important do you think regular schooling is?

I think education is more important than schooling. I've learned a lot more interesting and useful things on my own after I finished school. The schools teach you what they deem important and "acceptable." I think one should never stop learning but school may not be the answer for everyone.

3. Did you learn about what you were really interested in, in school?

Not particularly, not until I got to college.

4. In your opinion, do Capricorns tend to be very interested in metaphysical studies?

Hmm, not sure. I myself am into paranormal and spiritual interests but I'm always skeptical at first.

5. If you answered "yes" above, do you think our interest in metaphysics is downplayed or ignored in most astrology books?

I didn't answer 'yes' or 'no' but probably so. They all say we're too serious minded and only concerned with money.

6. Are you a hard worker?

Yes, especially if it's something I deem important. I'll put my all into.

7. Be honest...do you use people to get ahead in life? If so, how? If not, does it annoy you to be accused of using people?

No. If I don't click with someone, I certainly wouldn't befriend them just so I could get ahead. My relationships are important to me. I try to maintain friendships for life so yes, it is annoying to be accused of using others.

8. Are you consistently there for your loved ones, even when you have to make great sacrifices to do so?

Yes, my family is extremely important to me.

9. In your opinion, is Capricorn more or less artistic than other signs?

I think we're pretty artistic and this gets overlooked. Besides myself, I know 3 Caps who are visual artists. When I took a creative writing class, there were several Caps in the class. If a Capricorn is not an artist, I'd say they'd most likely have an appreciation for art.

10. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most sentimental, how sentimental are you?

Around a 7. I can be pretty sentimental at times. I only show my soft side to those I trust however.

11. What is the one thing about Capricorns that you wish other people would realize?

We're not boring sticks in the mud. Most likely, we're just unsure, shy, or insecure. You have to give a Cap time for them to warm up to you. If you're willing to look deeper and be patient, you'll most likely earn yourself a loyal and caring friend. We can also be quite silly.

Thank you Faith for this survey

1.What is your opinion of typical descriptions of the Capricorn personality? Does it describe you well?

It seems to me that the negative traits that are associated with our signs come largely from the myth of Saturn, “He ate his children to maintain sole rulership, so people who are born under his influence are ruthless and addicted to power” lol.

The description for every sign is a bit general really, but I guess we do need to generalize to a certain degrees. I’ve read articles where caps are described as sensitive, creative, artistic, loving and caring. And there are of course the ones where Capricorn is described as cold and ruthless, care only about status and money. .... In real life? I’ve met different types of Capricorns.

The “workaholic” cap description amuses me. Most of the time I see Caps work to feed the families, not for social status. I bet if people of other supposedly “light-hearted”, “relax” signs are placed in the same circumstances of a workaholic Capricorn, they will turn into that Cap in no time hahahaha. The thing is, most people would work very hard to survive and to support their families. So yeah, people who judge us for that really need to get off our backs. We enjoy going out and have a smashing time as much as everyone else, but there are only 24 hours a day.Do excuse us for having other pressing matters to attend to and can’t find the time to partayyyyy. Lol.

The Pan-like Capricorn description fits me pretty well. Now I’m just frolicking around chewing grass. But if I have to work to support my loved ones, hell I’ll work from morning till night, 7 days a week. I did that once, and I can do that again. I endure <speak solemnly with a serious Capricorn expression>

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being “extremely important”, how important do you think regular schooling is?

I’ll give it a 5. Regular schooling is important. Self-education and learning from experiences/from examples are also important. School is like a big library, where there are books and teachers to show me how to process the information. I loved schools and my teachers, they were all very helpful.

3. Did you learn about what you were really interested in, in school?

Some of the things, yes. Math and physics and histories. There are also many subjects I love but my school didn’t offer, so I gather information on those subjects from other places.

4. In your opinion, do Capricorns tend to be very interested in metaphysical studies?

I’m not sure about this one. Like I’ve mentioned above, there are many types of caps and they are complex too. So it’s difficult for me to answer.

For me, yes, I’m interested in metaphysical studies. I’m not sure about my level of understanding, but the interest is there.

5. If you answered “yes” above, do you think our interest in metaphysics is downplayed or ignored in most astrology books?

In most of the astrology books that I’ve read , yes.

6. Are you a hard worker?

Depends on what you mean by a “hard worker”. I fulfil my responsibilities and I have good work ethics.

7. Be honest... do you use people to get ahead in life? If so, how? If not, does it annoy you to be accused of using people?

No. I don’t form relationships with people just so I can use them, or to gain favours. And I certainly do not trample on other people’s spines to get ahead.

8. Are you consistently there for your loved ones, even when you have to make great sacrifices to do so?

Yes. Loved ones' well being comes before everything else.(of course if they want me to do something morally/ethically challenged then I really have to think about it. But overall, I don’t want to live in a world without them. They are the light and warmth of my life.

9. In your opinion, is Capricorn more or less artistic than other signs?

I actually am not sure about how artistic the other signs are, compared to us. There are so many people with artistic talents, of all signs.

I can only speak for myself and the caps I know. We have an appreciation for all forms of art. Most of us have artistic talent, to various degrees. Some astrologers obviously think that something as fine and fair like art, cannot exist in the heart of people who are born under a harsh ruler and are supposed to be “devoid of emotions”. Lol people tend to forget the fish tail part of our sign.

Lol I’mat my best when I’m in love. I write poetry, paint portraits of him and I make everything around us beautiful.

10. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most sentimental, how sentimental are you?

I give myself an 8. I feel deeply and I am not afraid to express my feelings. Sometimes my feelings are explosive and overwhelming. But I also understand that in certain situations, it is best to keep myself calm and cool.

11. What is the one thing about Capricorns that you wish other people would realize?

Get to know the person first. Some people have a weird habit of finding out the sun sign first and base their judgement on that. Or they find out the signs of the people whom they have "beef" with, and then judge every innocent individual who shares the same signs.

I often get this "Oh my god you're so nice/caring/sweet..etc, I'm surprised that you're a capricorn". BAM BAM. Good feeling's gone.

Other than that, do realise that many of us don't walk around carrying a stone cold face. We don't appear 'aloof and hard to get close to". We are not uncaring, ruthless people who sacrifice little children on the altars every night to pray for good business. We’re not cold or unromantic. We’re not planning to stab you in the back and plotting for your downfall.

<it is very tempting, especially when you already think we're evil, we might as well just go with it, MUAHAHAHAHA >

no, just joking. Don't mind me. Scratch that last bit =))

Ah yes, the loyalty, the courtesy <hug Faith>. Actually we extend the courtesy to other signs as well. Mergoats won’t try to drown you in the sea, mountain goats won’t try to kick you off the cliff, Pan goats won’t put bugs in your grass beds. Aren’t we a loveable bunch? Lol

1. What is your opinion of typical descriptions of the Capricorn personality? Does it describe you well? Somewhat but I believe I embody my rising and moon sign more.

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being "extremely important," how important do you think regular schooling is? EXTREMELY IMPORTANT....it's the only way to become self sufficient.

3. Did you learn about what you were really interested in, in school? Never really learned much I don't think in my formative years but in college, I have been learning alot more. I know for myself, if I want it for myself, I am that much more willing to learn. Early school years weren't for me....I am high school drop out who is finishing her bachelor's degree at this time.

4. In your opinion, do Capricorns tend to be very interested in metaphysical studies? Not really...most capricorns that I know look at me cross eye because it doesn't seem "logical" enough and doesn't produce tangible results to them.

5. If you answered "yes" above, do you think our interest in metaphysics is downplayed or ignored in most astrology books? definitely

6. Are you a hard worker? I can be when I am interested in what I am doing but my gemini moon gives me ADD.

7. Be honest...do you use people to get ahead in life? If so, how? If not, does it annoy you to be accused of using people? Not in a bad way....just like to stay connected with people that are able to help but it doesn't mean that I would not repay the debt in some form of appreciation.

8. Are you consistently there for your loved ones, even when you have to make great sacrifices to do so? Absolutely!! I would give up my shirt for them and I can very much be a mother to them.

9. In your opinion, is Capricorn more or less artistic than other signs? depends on placements but I got my daughter (pisces) interested in drawing and art.

10. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most sentimental, how sentimental are you? 10

11. What is the one thing about Capricorns that you wish other people would realize? I am not really as mean as I look lol

Imagine there were 2 doors one which was flung open and said "Come on in" and another closed door with thick grey metal door bolted with 10 locks and said "no thank you" which one will you choose?

Most people would be so scared with the closed door they wouldn't even give it a chance. We are afraid of rejection. People do not have time to be patient with Capricorn. Guard is so high up with some Caps that they seem like they would never come down. I am Scorpio and I do not have patience for that kind of relationship.
We live in the world of instant insanity.

Capricorns are not socially awkward but socially lazy. Capricorn relies on traditions , families, organizations, etc. for social needs and looks no further. I guess things which comes naturally easy to most signs is so difficult to Caps. Sometimes Caps has no f*king clue or are so afraid to show emotions, have logical and rational explanation for everything that suddenly they do not even sound human. Bad Press is because of that.

I do not disagree that Capricorn are great for stability, great provider, loyal, gives structure, believes in structure, great taskmaster and works hard while other signs do not do any of that. Capricorn becomes unnecessary necessity, just like grammar in a language.

Capricorn is the sign if they be able to tame their ambitions and balance their life better. Every sign works hard and still balances their life and do not fail to do their social obligations.

The reason people think that you use them is because A) Caps can not see themselves how forceful or hard taskmaster they have been, due to rules and regulations they believe in. The reason and practicality with which they argue is impeccable where illogical reasoning, intuition and emotions wouldn't be entertained.
B) Most Caps get their calculation completely messed up or are not very honest about them. Caps strongly believe what others have done for them,it isn't for them. Instead Caps think they have been helping them to achieve their goals all along whereas the other party believes that they were helping Cap.
C) Caps are unwilling to do same what others might have done for them.
D) Caps do not even at time appreciate it and yet expect appreciation from others, for things which they haven't even done.
E) Sometimes Caps is over calculative.
F) Most Caps try to give what they think someone should have rather than what an x person might want.

Caps need to have structure for everything and that has pros/cons. People like free world, spontaneity ,real emotions, faith and more than logic. If logic could save all the problems in life, then you shouldn't have any problems but that is not always the case.

People do not want to know their own limitations but their own strengths. Even though there is a little peace in knowing your limitation. Saturn motivates by fear and scarcity rather than Jupiter which motivate by love and abundance.

As for creativity, Capricorn has innate talent but I do not see why do they need to compare them with other signs. At the end of the day Capricorn job is to give structure.

Capricorn values himself/ herself by competing with others. Capricorn gains power by defeating others and suffers insecurity by not believing in himself/herself however pretends to be completely in control of situation. This pretence is visible.

Caps has a bad history mostly and never seem to apologise for their behaviour or never gets forgiveness. They do not make substantial amendments to their own behaviour. This isn't on personal level but historic data.

I live in UK -supposedly very Capricorn place. I have learnt following :
- Skies are grey
- Life is practical
- People work very hard
- Sometimes everything is so logical that you are seeing machines working
- Majority People pretend not to believe in God or anything Metaphysical
- Most people come off as cold or nosy. Two extremes, where is the balance?
- There are tons of opportunities in every aspect including creative
- There are tons of private associations and organizations and clubs.
- There is hierarchy.
- A country where Keep Calm and Carry On is a national slogan

I am Scorpio and I hated it but now I am learning how to work with this energy.

So question is why shouldn't someone be somewhere, where skies are brighter and people are warmer & easier?

The truth is that at times Capricorn have emptiness to offer.Cap is well aware of the same and thus tries to lure with gifts of material comforts, logic and facts which are satisfactory temporarily. If Caps can offer emotional empathy and spiritual fullness which another soul desires, the relationship would be much easier. Every Cap needs to understand on it's own.

Not a Cap but I have been fascinated. You can argue if something is incorrect. This is only my point of view. Sorry to ruin your Cap Club which was going so well. ;-)

Thanks for the bump. Your inappropriate expression of contempt has been noted.

See what I mean? People just don't understand Capricorn...

I am a Cap Moon but I'll play anyhow

1. What is your opinion of typical descriptions of the Capricorn personality? Does it describe you well?

They are uptight but goofy once you get close to them and yes.

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being "extremely important," how important do you think regular schooling is?

I wish my parents had given me "Montesori" (sp?) schooling because regular schooling bored me to tears!! Literally..

3. Did you learn about what you were really interested in, in school? Yes. At the time...

4. In your opinion, do Capricorns tend to be very interested in metaphysical studies?

No

5. If you answered "yes" above, do you think our interest in metaphysics is downplayed or ignored in most astrology books?

6. Are you a hard worker?

Yes.

7. Be honest...do you use people to get ahead in life? If so, how? If not, does it annoy you to be accused of using people?

Yes. They wont't even know they have been used..

8. Are you consistently there for your loved ones, even when you have to make great sacrifices to do so?

Yes.

9. In your opinion, is Capricorn more or less artistic than other signs?

Yes.

10. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most sentimental, how sentimental are you?

-1

11. What is the one thing about Capricorns that you wish other people would realize?

Deep running emotions..

edit: Cap moon in 5th with saturn in 11th...virgo rising.

^ Cap moons are very different from the suns, however. For instance, see how you are less sentimental than all the Cap suns who answered so far?

*sigh*

I believe forums are for discussion (absolutely do), but if the discussion is not directed at you - and one is so interested in the subject, they should actually be listening and not trying to instigate arguments and since the matter is being discussed straight from the goat's mouth, contradicting the claims made is a bit... disruptive - and does seem petty.

If this person were to actually read the posts by the Capricorns here - they'd be able to see very clearly that each of their misconceived sentiments against Capricorns is far off from what Capricorns here are actually stating they are like.

There's nothing to gain here - we're all speaking our truth - if you can't read what we're saying - don't subject us to reading what you "think" is truth. It's like a child arguing that they're right, just because they say they are right even though they don't even know what they are talking about, and the adult is calling their bluff, but the child still thinks he is right... (my nephew does this all the time, he kept demanding everyone was wrong about how potatoes are grown, even though he's never seen a potato growing, or learned how they are grown... or my other nephew insisting that the term used for handcuffs is jailcuff~ oh he's adorable he tells some zingers - but they don't know these things, they just think they do, so they think and often insist they are right...) basically, this is the same thing...

It is "my opinion" that judging from the way you have written as well as what you have written, that you have spent far too long trying to relate to what your own sign is supposed to be like, that you are actually mirroring those stereotypes... time for some soul searching, Scorpion. Maybe make a thread on the topic like this one, and ask for just other Scorpion suns to answer the same questions or something similar~ That way you can find out how much you are like what those books and articles have described, and how alike (or not) other Scorpions are.

Other than that... yes, we've noted your unearned contempt of Capricorns as well as your distaste with living where you do. Thanks for sharing.

They say New York City is Capricornian~ btw

gotta love NYC! <3 Sure is popular. Good thing being Capricorn hasn't made those people turn it down for something easier and sunnier.

Oh, and Jupiter... yes, he was so awesome when he swallowed Metis whole just so that his next born would not take over his lordship of Olympus. Good times, eh? Oh... wait... and ordering Hephaistos be thrown off the mountain... Giving humans a short lifespan and weapons... Punishing Prometheus for giving us "light". Ordering Pandora's creation as well as the "box" she held... I mean, what says "all-loving supreme being" better than a gift that you know will end in disaster~ ! YEAH!!! We just love Zeus/Jupiter.

(Like I'd mentioned above, there are so many things lost to time within astrology)~ It's wonderful that you love Jupiter~ I love my dominant Jupiter too, but I'm not gonna sweep all the negative sides of his character and blessings under the carpet just to make his presence anymore worthy than some other ruler. And, having Mars-Pluto as a ruler... wooh~ we can go on for days with all the negatives they embody too... Neptune, yeah he has them too, also in abundance... The Moon, yup even the dear ol' Moon has been naughty... Venus - of course... hah >.>; dirty deeds! Mercury, if you aren't familiar with his character, you'd be surprised~ ^^;

Bottom-line - every sign has negative traits, and every planet has negative traits - both can present themselves in a natal most are not permanent (progression - nothing ever stays the same) - but there is and will always be free will. It is the generalizing and stereotyping that we all want done away with. So if you want to base your entire opinion on any person of any sign's supposed traits based off of those references, or on a "few" characters you may or may not have personally known who did you wrong somehow (if only in your mind or to some other) who had some of the placements mentioned somewhere, that only shows that this kind of study is needed for you to view, and for people like you to recognize how erroneous those false interpretations and misrepresentations can be and often are. Not so you can meander by with passive animosity, and clearly not taking anything herein under account, babble on with your supposed resentment issues towards your sign or the sign of someone else, not stating your experience or what expertise you have in order to judge them so. That is exactly what wasn't asked for...

It's counterproductive and malicious to insert yourself into a peaceful crowd with no intent on giving the people there already any respect (reading their insights maybe, letting them sink in, asking them questions)... well unless you really are here to sabotage, and that is your intention - in which case -if you are that bored with your board viewing, you can probably find more entertainment elsewhere... well... unless you were trying to troll... hmmmm... Faith we may need to put trollbane in the corner of every post! Just in case!

While nothing truly heinous was said, it is still uncalled for, and not what was requested by the OP.

But, more likely than not, you're miserable yourself, and felt like blaming your misery, (doing some mirroring) on someone else~ I hope it was cathartic enough for you~ And, I hope you have your eyes checked. I could understand why other Capricorn placement-ers are lured in, but who invited the Scorpio? (half-jest) lol Where did I miss that!? (Maybe I need my eyes checked too, eh?) But, the title clearly states, "Survey for Capricorns"

---

charlie~ ty for posting there, it is nice to see how different a Mooner is in these areas~

I don't think it is bad to see what these other kinds of Cappies feel, so long as you state your Sun and Asc (and Saturn) so we know the area your Capricorn influence is felt, and a better idea on your central energy (solar).

It's good to see how different we are, because it only validates how different the two placements (or others) are. The strength of a Capricorn influence on a person's actual character may be stronger for a Solar Capricorn. But, this way we see how effective the same influence is when it is given to another planet... right?! ^^;

But, we should state our Saturn/housing, and the Sun for anyone else.

We're all different - just a little.

YTA <3 Respond too!!!

Randall too!!!

Plutonic Cap - if you are out there ressssspond!!! (similar charts and almost similar houses! I'm really interested in what you feel~!) *crosses fingers*

Where the fella's at~!!?

This topic needs more testosterone!

<- putting my hyperactive chimaera suit on the shelf for awhile, Aries transits are... hmmm... not making me a good she-goat. ^^;

Saturnine!

It is so satisfying to read your comments when the astro-bigots are about. Thank you!

And yes, other Cappies: please don't boycott me or this survey, we want to hear your opinions!

'About to post my survey/responses, I hope there aren't a million typos.

Here goes! I'm a 6H singleton sun Capricorn with a splash chart.

1. What is your opinion of typical descriptions of the Capricorn personality? Does it describe you well?

I am ambitious, but I have never been a consistently hard worker, and the times when I do obsess over accomplishing a goal or finishing a project hardly seem worth emphasizing so much~ as if this is the central axis of my personality. A few books have talked about Cap's inner compulsion towards mastery, and I resonate with that. I am also grateful to authors who acknowledge Capricorn complexity, emotional depth, and soulfulness. However, these astrologers seem to be few and far between, which is probably why the general consensus about Capricorn is, we are self-interested machines.

2. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being "extremely important," how important do you think regular schooling is?

I agree with this:

And this:

Originally posted by moonlightx:
I think education is more important than schooling.

And for some people this may definitely be true...

it's the only way to become self sufficient.

However, 'have to say that for my part I am very inspired by people who carve their own path, like entrepreneurs. I love when people can advance along unconventional lines, through cleverness and resourcefulness. <3

I give it a 3.

3. Did you learn about what you were really interested in, in school?

My answer is, for all the time, money, and energy I put into it, I did not get much of a return on my investment. Some of that is my fault; I picked the wrong major, went to the wrong college, so I only have myself to blame.

quote:
Originally posted by Luminosity:
I never felt as though I was learning enough or being challenged enough.

Yes, it was rare for me to feel like I was really being challenged in subjects I felt like being challenged in. One of my biology teachers required us to memorize huge stores of information at once, to get As on her tests...that was fun for me. But the early grades were super boring.

4. In your opinion, do Capricorns tend to be very interested in metaphysical studies?

I was surprised at your answers here, because mine is different: most of the Caps I know are interested in astrology, the occult, or at the very least, quantum physics ("the universe is holographic," that kind of thing.) Once I start picking up on the fact that a random stranger I'm talking to on the bus or whatever is probably a Cap, I move into those subjects expecting them to be interested.

But I agree, our departure point is from a place of "convince me it's worth my time and I will definitely look into it." Because Caps hate to waste our time on fruitless endeavors, right? =) We conserve.

Originally posted by SaturnineMoth:
Noticeably, most of both sides look at overall metaphysical studies from the skeptic perspective first.

5. If you answered "yes" above, do you think our interest in metaphysics is downplayed or ignored in most astrology books?

It is rarely mentioned, and this is something that annoys me, especially when so many astrology books and websites are written by Capricorns. And so many astronomers and cutting-edge scientists are Capricorn. Doesn't anybody get the picture??

quote:
Originally posted by SaturnineMoth:
Unfortunately yes, like many areas Capricorns excel in, the popular vote always attaches us with physical gains, ambitions.

^ Right.

6. Are you a hard worker?

Sporadically. I actually prefer to work 18 hours at a time, sometimes, rather than just following a disciplined schedule or putting in regular hours (when I had real jobs.) I do enjoy and seem to thrive on obsessively working on things, but the motivation has to come from my heart.

LOL, right...are people just sour grapes because once in a while we have to say, "Sorry, can't make it, HAVE to tend to some other duties." (?)

7. Be honest...do you use people to get ahead in life? If so, how? If not, does it annoy you to be accused of using people?

Folks, I loved your answers here.

Originally posted by SaturnineMoth:
It irritates me to see squandering of talent and skill, if someone has a strength they are not using, I feel the need the desire to help them use it to their advantage which in turn may be advantageous for me as well.

^ Good point. I don't use people but I see the usefulness of my relationships and want to collaborate with the other person so we both get the most out of our interaction. If someone comes to the table with certain "assets," which may just be a sense of humor and gorgeous peels of laughter, I see that and look forward to enjoying more of it over time. And I will invest myself to hear more of that laughter...it can be looked at as a "barter," but only if someone wants to color it in those mechanistic terms (which, apparently, people like to do when talking about Cap relationships.)

quote:
Originally posted by moonlightx:
My relationships are important to me. I try to maintain friendships for life so yes, it is annoying to be accused of using others.

^ Same here. Which is another reason I take stock of people carefully, because I'm considering being around for them for the rest of my life, if they are willing.

quote:
Originally posted by cappy1277:
Not in a bad way....just like to stay connected with people that are able to help but it doesn't mean that I would not repay the debt in some form of appreciation.

^ Ditto.

8. Are you consistently there for your loved ones, even when you have to make great sacrifices to do so?

Happy (and not surprised) we all answer *yes.*

quote:
Originally posted by Luminosity:
Take care of your health and your happiness and the people around you will be happier too.

^ I'm just learning that now and I'm 37. (Saturn opposes my Mercury. Some things take a while to sink in.)

9. In your opinion, is Capricorn more or less artistic than other signs?

In my opinion, we are actually one of the most artistic signs. When I first signed up here, I was talking to Regardes Platero, who is gone now, but who was a great, smart regular Libra here. She said something like, "I really like Caps...they all draw well." I just laughed, because I can draw well (not to boast but I can!) and I know other Caps who can, too. Yet you typically never hear that about us.

January holds the star Vega, of the Lyra constellation. In some astrological fields this is viewed as why Capricorns have a discerning eye or hand for the arts.

^ Ahh thank you for telling us! <3

quote:
Originally posted by moonlightx:
I think we're pretty artistic and this gets overlooked. Besides myself, I know 3 Caps who are visual artists.

^ See?? Artists we are.

quote:
Originally posted by 12muddy:
I can only speak for myself and the caps I know. We have an appreciation for all forms of art...1 people tend to forget the fish tail part of our sign.

^ Definitely.

10. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most sentimental, how sentimental are you?

It varies of course, but my default state is about 8 or 9.

11. What is the one thing about Capricorns that you wish other people would realize?

I loved your answers here and agree with them all. Thank you Saturnine for the mythology lesson, I was so touched to see how the stories redeem us. I think we are a diamond in the rough, perhaps...don't just focus on the rough all the time, people.

Thanks so much for your time! <3
