Let's talk about Mercury (which is now retrograde). Where's yours, and what aspects does it make?
What Mercuries do you like best (sign, house, aspects?). I'll go first:
Mercury in Scorpio - 6th house Conjunct Sun My favorites are fellow Scorpio Mercuries, Mercury/Pluto aspects (flowing especially, but hard aspects can be okay, too), and sometimes even Mercury in the 8th does the trick. I also like Pisces Mercury and sometimes Virgo (other Earth signs are okay, too). What about you?

I think having compatible Mercuries in synastry is extremely important. It can take away all the potential of a relationship even if there are other supporting aspects (if there's no compatiblity between them, I mean). IP: Logged |

I was actually thinking of starting a Mercury thread some time ago. I forgot about it though.Libra Mercury (6H) Mercury square Uranus Mercury square Neptune I’d hate to be a Negative Nancy once again but I haven’t been fond of most of the Mercury placements I’ve come in contact with. The ones that bothered me the least were Scorpio, Gemini and Libra Mercury. There is one Mercury placement I absolutely abhor. I cannot stand to breathe the same air as them. Literally everything that comes out of their mouth rubs me the wrong way – Aquarius Mercury. I’ve had no experience with – Aries, Taurus, Cancer and Pisces Mercury.

Both. Flowing aspects are the best (like Mercury trine Mercury) but Mercuries in the same element is quite good, too. I know for sure that Leo Mercuries and Aqua Mercuries (sorry!) aren't my cup of tea.. Unless we have some other flowing aspects - like Mercury/Moon or Mercury/Venus. Mercury in aspect to another planet isn't as "good" as when they're in aspect to each other, I think. Although Mercury / inner planet aspects can be very helpful.

My Mercury is in the 4th house in Sagittarius. It sextiles Moon and conjuncts Juno.Unfortunately I've made too few observations to decide what my fav placement is Which one do you think would be most compatible with mine? ------------------ I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy. IP: Logged |

Mercury in gem. Conjunct Asc/sun/moon/venus. Trines saturn/squares jupiter.I'm okay with all of them, I don't really have a problem communicating with a specific sign. I tend to adapt to any style of communication, so honestly it makes no difference to me. thou I tend to have the most stimulating conversations with Gemini's. IP: Logged |

I think Air & Fire Mercuries would be best. I don't pay much attention to the house Mercury's in for synastry. Element is more important, in my opinion. It may be different for others, but to me Mercury is very important - it disposits my ASC, Moon, SN, and 6th house stellium. So if I don't feel a mental / intellectual connection with someone, it's pretty much pointless.

By the way, I don't know how it works for someone whose Mercury is in a different sign from their Sun..That's tricky. Maybe you guys need someone whose Mercury is in a compatible sign with your Sun?

Fire...Perhaps with the exception of Leo. My father has it and I feel like punching him every time he talks to me and even others quote: Maybe you guys need someone whose Mercury is in a compatible sign with your Sun?
Hmm, maybe you're right. I've noticed when it comes to interviews with celebs that water Mercuries tend to catch my interest. ------------------ I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy. IP: Logged |

I like Mercury in Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius people... if I had to order it in favorites though it would be:1) Sagittarius 2) Aries 3) Leo I notice Mercury in Leo people are very proud of their ideas, but often times (like their opposite sign Aquarius) there's a flawed logic to them that's obvious to me, and I have to point it out so they don't look idiotic, but they don't like that very much. :P They're bad liars though, and I do value their opinions. When they compliment me I know (or feel like anyway) that they mean it. I REALLY like Mercury in Scorpio, or Mercury conjunct Pluto people. They tend to get me and I learn a lot from them. Even their ability to lie doesn't bother me. I don't know why. I DO NOT LIKE MERCURY IN PISCES. Sorry. Nope. I won't even go into why. I'm indifferent to Mercury in Gemini. Yeah, they're great conversationalists buuuut they can justify anything, so sometimes I find them lacking in taking personal responsibility for things, or they find it hard to see things for what they are. They're very creative and I REALLY appreciate how easy they are to talk to. If I have an issue to address with an individual, I pray they have Mercury in Gemini. We can really get to the bottom of things that way since it conjuncts my ASC, Mars, and Jupiter. I've never dealt with Mercury in Virgo, but I imagine they'd have anxiety and be very smart. Mercury in Taurus... they're the placement I like because I'd feel bad hating them. I don't know what the perks are to having Mercury in Taurus other than possibly being able to keep secrets. They're nice but they are too slow for my Mercury in Aries and Gemini placements. Mercury in Aquarius. They're okay. I like arguing with them 'cause they can take it and it's almost as if that's how they communicate (and sometimes...that's how I communicate too, so it's nice having someone that understands) but they can knock the wind out of me with something they say at a moment's notice, and I don't like that. Mm-mmm. I have Mercury in the 11th house, sextile Mars, conjunct my Sun and Venus, and square Saturn and Neptune.

I'm a libra mercury in 4th house Square neptune, uranus, ascendant and quincunx saturnI usually like talking to other libra mercs (for looooonnnggg periods of time lol). I love virgo mercury, the ones I know crack me up and they don't mind my corny jokes. My mom is a gemini mercury and we always crack dumb silly jokes and come up with random scenarios that could be used in a comedy skit. There was another gemini merc I knew and we'd crack jokes about each other alot too. I like sagittarius mercury too
Cap mercury is ok, I like them but sometimes I feel like the conversation is dull and I hate feeling like someone doesn't want to talk (one word responses irk me lol) Don't know any mercuries in the other signs. :l

Mercury exact conj. Sun in Sag in 1st house. No other major aspects, however septile Moon. And involved in some crazy midpoints. Tightest Midpoint is Moon=Mercury/Pluto and Mercury=Sun=Jupiter/Pluto. (why am I still not rich? ) My favourite Mercuries are Sagittarius and Aries; or Mercury aspecting Jupiter or Mars.
I also like Mercury in Aquarius and Libra. I get along with Mercury in Scorpio and Capricorn (my parent`s Mercuries are there, maybe that is why). But Mercury in Taurus (for example) just drive me crazy, they are talking SOOOO slowly. I always get the urge to jump up and run around like a battery-fuelled bunny, and I am usually the calmness and patience in person. But something about Mercury in Taurus just triggers a major impatience in me (though I often find they have nice voices, and they are creative in a practical down to earth way and it is not that i don´t like them, jsut they drive me insane). I don't like my Merc in Pisces.Especially verbally, everything comes out too amorphous, to confused-sounding. My husband's Merc in Taurus is nice - it balances with and grounds his Gemini Sun, Saggie Moon, and Aries placements. ------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device. Yes, I agree. I noticed that pretty much all the men I have ever been drawn to have had Mercury in Sagittarius or Mercury in Aries. I am boring like that.
And in friendships the Mercury will often be in an airy sign (but not Gemini. NOTHING in Gemini ever attracted me. lol). However, in my case Mercury rules my DESC, and it is conjunct my Sun - so it doesn`T surprise me it is so important in relationships for me. I have one friend though whoe MErcury is in Capricorn. We get along wonderfully, however we do think differently, just the way we ware thinking, not necessarily the content. But it is very interesting to see things from each other`s perspective. I guess it helps that her Sun (and Saturn) is conjunct my Moon. Her Mercury is on my Antivertex and Sun/Moon-mp. Her Venus is conjunct my Sun-Mercury-conjunction. Enough common ground there.

If you have some friends that you feel a deep connection with - the people you can easily talk to and not be afraid of being misunderstood - well, look at their Mercuries and your synastry with them. You'd probably get on well with Air & Earth Mercuries. quote: I REALLY like Mercury in Scorpio

Yes. Caps can be that way. Ceridwen, Oh that Venus - Sun/Mercury conjunction sounds sweet. And stop hating on the Pisces Mercury, people!

The ones I've known are very ambiguous in speech whenever it comes to discussing emotional "issues". They tend to just ignore and hide.Otherwise they can be very inconsiderate to the point of rudeness. Very touchy, easily offended.. passive aggressive. Quite capricious. Just, no. ** this is only personal experience, I'm sure there are awesome Cancer Mercuries out there.. somewhere.. lol.
