Similar for me in childhood. It wasn't the original reason why I was shunned by girls as a small child (which probably had more to do with parents), but I learned to get along with boys and continued to do so as a teen. And by my teens it was assumed I was having sex with all the guys, though the times I had a boyfriend saw a lot of that hostility toward me diminish, presumably because I was no longer competition. It was complicated by other factors of just not being liked for other reasons (and thus have to invent fictional reasons to dislike me), and there were females of all ages who thought I was just a tomboy to be more attractive to guys, after all what other purpose does a girl have but to get a guy?  Not that all guys were more open minded either, though I think it helped that guys are much more likely to understand there's more to life than just dating. Still, I managed to keep a few female friends. As an adult I have more casual male friends than female yet my friendships with females tend to be deeper and better quality. IP: Logged |

I just remembered I was out with both kids of my partner (one a high school girl) doing some shopping when our ride was going to be late so we went to have a pizza made (take and bake). While waiting for our ride by the pizza place holding our pizza we got out our candy bars, something we very rarely eat (mine at least wasn't even that sweet, it was something you'd only find in a health food store) and meanwhile quite a few women my age or older picking up pizzas (or in the vehicle of the guy who did) gave me dirty looks. At first I ignored it but after a handful I asked the kids if there was something about how I looked. The high school girl snorted and said something like, "You're in good shape, they're not, and here you are eating candy while holding a pizza." I joked about how good it was that high school prepared kids for the real world and maybe I needed a refresher. She's popular with both genders, at least somewhat. It bothers me how many of her friends constantly fish for her approval and text nonstop for it. She's popular with guys, too, but some guys complain she's stuck up, which I don't think is true. She does have high standards for both her friends and boyfriends but she doesn't put them down, think herself superior, or act condescending, at least not that I can see, I think it's more about standards for herself which she's more critical of than anyone, even if she projects confidence she developed as she successfully stood up to both kids and adults who once gave her a real hard time. She's shown me that Cancers can indeed be strong. IP: Logged |

Yes in the armed forces they do stand with other men on the same side, fighting for the same country.
However, I meant the construct of war was invented by men. Theaters are, by in large, run by men and have been as far back as anyone can remember, and they treat men as disposable. If men were valued by other men across the board, as in every country on earth, diplomacy would work. War with casualties, which are by in large men, wouldn't be an option. IP: Logged |

Ok, but why is that relevant in this thread? I don't see a connection to anything said here and I don't understand what inspired you to post that even as a tangent. Are you thinking someone in this thread asserted that men are all peaceful and loving incapable of hatred for anyone?  IP: Logged |

Anyway, I don't know what aspects would contribute to this since it seems to be a worldwide phenomena for some reason and can be seen in nearly all cultures. It's very subtle, too. IP: Logged |

How do people not see it?War = killing, usually and especially historically, amongst men Is it really so much of a big leap of logic to see that killing = hate? And this thread is called "Being hated by the same sex." It's not off topic whatsoever, it just expands the original intent of the OP, in a pretty normal way.

There are women who get along better with men than with their own kind, but that's because they share a common interest or hobby. Nothing wrong with that. And those women aren't hated.
But there's another kind of woman who does so because all she wants is attention from men.
