I mean, that just seems ridiculous to me. It's common sense laws and does nothing to those who are responsible gun owners. There is absolutely no reason for assault rifles to be on the market nor is there any reason to allow people on a no fly list access to legally acquiring weapons. Just seems like the opposition basically says anything/everything to not consider it so... Agree to disagree. IP: Logged |

Good!! I was afraid they might let her off! Unbelievable how he was able to carry the attack out when there was so much evidence pointing to the fact that he was plotting something! IP: Logged |

Assault rifles are used in less than 2% of crime. (Which a true assault rifle technically is only in the military. Politicians twisted the definition to fit their agenda) Further, the Orlando victims accounted for less than half of murder victims in the U.S. that same weekend. Think about that. Suicide far surpassing murder completely. (Which should be a clue that it's a mental issue. Self-harm is not the only concern with suicidal people) Several of these previous shootings didn't even involve an "assault weapon" (which by the way is technically a made up, political term). Virginia Tech shooting, regarded as possibly the worst school massacre, didn't include a rifle of any kind. Among other mass shootings. There was an assault weapon ban for ten years while some of these shootings took place. What was technically banned was cosmetic and didn't affect the lethal capacity (which is the same as other guns) When the 10 year ban had finished, the U.S. Justice department decided that it was not effective and that "assault weapons" we're used far less in crime than first thought. Indicating to me that they made the ban without real data. Ar-15's have been for sale since the 60's, with over 3 million sold since the mid-80's. Yet, they are not used in most gun crimes. Very few in fact. On the CDC's website, they have calculated the risk factor of being shot (by any gun) has the same risk factor as being stabbed. I'll leave it at that for now. The media hypes things up and suddenly everyone has the answer. No you don't. Get informed. Which even the government in 2004 admitted that they hadn't but of course that never made headlines. It will use any weapon -- words, knives, character assassination. This man's homophobia was enough to drive him to kill. That is why he targeted this club. It is hate that drives one to this degree of madness, and possibly madness that opens the door to it. Incompetence. The US government knew about this guy and could have prevented him from getting weapons of this sort since he was on the terrorism watch list. Greed. It made your weapons. We can complain all we want about the military-industrial complex, but capitalism American style likes to make lots and lots of guns, and explosives, and 'spy' gear for people who fancy themselves battle ready, or those who are engaged in paramilitary dress up for grown-ups (so-called militias). If we want to stop the military industrial complex, we have to do it first at home. Which brings us around to ... Karma. The USA is going through the progression of Pluto contra-parallel natal Venus and Mars. Power struggles, war, violence -- and a resulting values shift (Venus). The Venus end of this progression is being more emphasized now. What will come of it? We know the USA must change to a more balanced way, but with its position of dominance on the world scene, there is little motivation. Things will get worse before they get better. I hope we are at the 'worst' but I suspect Americans have not suffered enough yet.

It was awesome wasn't it? I couldn't have made that up. I read that you like back rubs from Cancer Venus, and I was like, "Yup. I never had a lover I didn't give a complete rub down, and if any man had ever denied me..." Lol. Thanks DP. edit: I have no idea why I have named you DP. IP: Logged |

It was. I normally don't read long posts, but I read that one. You usually have interesting things to say which is part of why you'll be missed around here. I remember sitting around a fire once and a woman who I had never met came up behind me and started giving me a backrub. She gave the best backrub ever, I swear. She had good strength and wasn't afraid to use it. It never became anything more. We didn't even really talk. Just a backrub from a stranger but it was such a great backrub that I still haven't forgotten it. IP: Logged |

I am LGBT Genderqueer. I marched in the pride parade my city had over the weekend. Last week was pride week and the first time I ever did anything for pride. Our pride week ended in a very sad note..... waking Sunday to the sickening, horrific and devastating news. I attended the vigil that night.I have been in the community since '12 and I all I have ever known was the acceptance and unconditional love. Truly a great community with wonderful people..... it's all about love. Love of everybody. I am deeply saddened. IP: Logged |

This tragedy is just heartbreaking....it is awful to witness a lot of negative responses of some utilizing this massive loss to further agendas....On a humanistic note, it speaks very well of the communities involved to not be lashing out at each other in anger and/or judging others for the acts of one...Very sad news also from Orlando, reports of a toddler being taken from his parents by an alligator at a resort...Body still has not been found ): Prayers to Orlando and all of us in these heavy times. Apparently they did find the body this afternoon. The news is saying that he/she (not sure if they've said if the toddler was male or female) died from drowning. I really feel for the parents…they naturally climbed in the water and tried to save their child, but obviously weren't successful. The child was standing in just a few inches of water when it happened. I can't even imagine…it hurts just to think about it. I hope they're surrounded by support and love right now. IP: Logged |

Yeah it's just too completely awful. I don't know if astrocartography could show why so much is happening in Florida these days? I don't understand it, astrologically. IP: Logged |

Good Question. One that I'd like to know the answer to as well, being that I live here. This has been the worst year of my life, and then the events of the collective on top of it make it horrifying. This section of the astro map is ruled by Neptune (based on my chart), and Neptune has been squaring Saturn all year, so maybe that has something to do with it. Idk. Bad year for me and my city in general though. I'd like to know what's causing it astrologically. IP: Logged |
