Thanks, Randall!
It seems to have become a fairly pervasive problem, from what I gather.
I can't speak for everyone, but I personally really appreciate your willingness to consider the idea.

My Virgo Moon finds this very fair, clear, and well worded.

I suppose it could be added to the forum rules? People often don't notice them, but they're there, and can be pointed out, or a thread bumped, etc.

And this should happen after the OP has had the chance to correct the misinformation posted and failed to do so.

Without picking sides and speaking only objectively, I think the forum as a community and as a whole would only benefit if everyone works together, focus on what's best for everyone (members and potential new members) as a community and not just to benefit a selected few and not feed any dramas and/or egos.
I also think getting too strict and too many rules will potentially scare away new members, casual people and even professional astrologers.

The part of having open discussions and civilized debates with a different variety of opinions and people with different points of view is what makes a forum beautiful. Everyone can learn from the different point of views as long as there is mutual respect and open minds, after all we all share one thing: the love for Astrology. Let's rather focus on this.

Peace out, good luck Lindaland.

I could add something similar to the Rules. A reputable source would have to be referenced, such as AstroDataBank.

Is this for every time we discuss placements, or just when we correct someone else?

I am not a moderator for Astrology 2.0 so I can't close a thread here but based on the OP of the link you gave me she made a small mistake on the spelling of one of the asteroids or is there something else I am missing that bothered you about that thread?. In this case you as a member can point it out and ask her nicely to correct it but I would choose my battles if I were you bc if not it will feel to her like you are micromanaging her and she will start to feel persecuted by you. I would personally just point out the error and say I would appreciate it if you fix it.

If she makes a bigger mistake like talking about aspects in a chart of a famous person that are not actually in their chart bc she has the wrong data all together or something along those lines then you point it out and ask nicely she fixes it as well and if she doesn't you email Randall or Lalalinda to inform them of the issue who are the moderators of Astrology 2.0. Since this is more serious I imagine they will try to get her to fix it and if not remove wrong data and or close thread. The latter is a much bigger issue ethically although still should be handled with kindness and this thread with the disclaimer that Leeloo suggested is providing a platform on how to do this kindly providing a procedure and structure that is expected to be implemented so there are no surprises.

Wasn't asking for another one of your lectures, hypatia. Just wanted your opinion.

Ami made errors last week. First thread, I said "Accuracy would be nice." Second thread: "How hard is it to check?" Yet I am constantly being accused of unkindness in how I brought the errors to her attention. I'm sick of that. Please don't feed into this myth that I was out of line or unkind.

As the conversation progressed and I was baited (Ami's response to "Accuracy would be nice" was to call me stupid), and anyone can check how the other thread got out of hand, then I probably said some unkind things. But many, many more bad things were said about me, than I said about anyone else. I don't really care about it as an ego issue. But I DO like truth and accuracy so I hope people will read the threads if they want to form an opinion.

You asked "what about this one?" which is a vague question, I did my best replying to it given it was not a very specific question.

I do appreciate you a lot in general Faith ironically more than Ami, its hard not bc of our syanstry, but we are just not going to agree every time. I want everyone to feel good here including you and Leeloo, I wish Gabby would come back too and Aubyanne would participate more often as well as Ceri but when I feel a certain way I am true to it.

So, Ami says there is an asteroid called Blewit.

There is not, it's Blewett. Several people have told her and she insists on spelling it her way.

You think her inaccuracy ought to be allowed to stand. Okay then. That's all I wanted to know.

I think it might bother some of the rest of us but I'm not presuming to speak for anyone else. It does bother me. No one here should be making up asteroid names, in my opinion.

And you expressed that it bothered you! and she did include the asteroid number so is easy to see that is misspelled; probably she is spelling it how it sounds and to make a point about why she interprets that asteroid the way she does.

No, posting a source isn't necessary when you discuss Placements. It's just when you question the technical accuracy of posted birth data. AstroDataBank is the definitive source and respected by all, but there could be others.

@Randall

So it's okay to misspell asteroids, that is protected under artistic license and no one may ask for correction?

In this case I think the spelling is pushing for a particular interpretation of the asteroid and over-stressing its relevance and applicability.

Like spelling mortar "murder" or something.

Does that only apply to the Reference Library? I don't understand what's been done.

I agree with the quote. She gave its number, so she was spelling it how it sounds to support her interpretation of it. Yes, that could be deemed creative license, since she did provide the correect Asteroid number.

Well, in order to avoid being corrected on the spelling of the asteroid, why doesn't she spell it correctly and then state, "It reminds me of the phrase 'blew it'," while going on to give her interpretation of the asteroid? Just my suggestion.

Is that going to be part of the rules? Because I can just seem people scratching their heads when they try and correct someone's blatant and consistent misspelling of an asteroid, and they are told they are in the wrong and have no place to comment.
